#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2011-04-30 - Paris: My Love Affair With the City of Lights

Bonjour, my lovely tutu-twirling darlings!

Welcome back to another week of #PinkTutuBlogParis! It’s post number 592 from the City of Lights and it feels so good to be back. My Eurostar journey was like a dream - imagine whizzing through the countryside, the sun streaming through the window and me, twirling in my favourite pink tulle tutu. I feel so inspired by everything Paris, it's as though a sprinkle of Parisian magic dust falls upon me, making everything sparkly and fabulous!

I'm always looking for inspiration wherever I go. After all, being a ballerina blogger is more than just dancing around in pretty dresses. It's about finding beauty everywhere, whether it's in a graceful swan gliding on the Seine, a whimsical display of fresh pastries at a Parisian bakery or even a stylishly dressed Parisian dog (which I definitely spotted!). But hey, who wouldn't want to be a bit more glamorous? 😉

Paris - A Dream in Pink

This week in Paris, my itinerary was filled with tutus, twirls and shopping!

Day One: Parisian Chic and Tutu Delights

I began my Paris adventure with a delightful walk through the Tuileries Garden, its rows of stately trees and beautiful sculptures providing a magnificent backdrop for my latest tulle creation: a sunshine yellow tutu adorned with pink rosebuds, oh-so-French, don’t you think? It really added a pop of colour to my Parisian adventure! The Tuileries Garden is a haven for creativity and inspiration, so of course, I had to capture the moment with a little twirl photoshoot for my #PinkTutuBlog. I was stopped several times by passersby, admiring the vibrant colour and floaty skirt of my tutu. Honestly, seeing their delighted faces fills me with joy. My hope is to see a world where everyone feels confident and free, embracing the fun and playfulness of wearing a tutu - whether it's on a cobbled Parisian street or back home in Derbyshire.

That evening, my adventure led me to a delightful little bistro on the Left Bank. My dinner was a Parisian delight, followed by a performance of “The Nutcracker” at the Opera Garnier. Seeing those amazing ballerinas glide across the stage just re-ignited my passion for the dance and for finding inspiration in the stories behind these classic performances.

Day Two: A Shopaholic’s Paradise

As you all know, my wardrobe is never complete without some stunning French chic! This weekend, I ventured to the iconic Marais district. You see, in the Marais, you don’t just find unique boutiques, you discover little hidden treasures: vintage Parisian jewelry, silk scarves adorned with exquisite flower designs and, oh, the shoe stores! From classic French pumps to flamboyant stilettos, every shoe in the Marais seems to whisper "Parisian flair". I did splurge on a stunning pair of ruby red heels with a black grosgrain bow. They’re utterly Parisian. Of course, I bought a beautiful vintage pink lace top too. You just can’t visit the Marais and leave without a new piece of wardrobe magic.

Later, my adventure continued in the bohemian chic neighbourhood of Montmartre. I love how every corner seems to echo with artists and dreamers, the winding cobbled streets are alive with life, from vibrant street performers to charming cafes brimming with laughter and chatter. It was a delightful way to round off a Parisian shopping spree.

Day Three: Parisian Culture in Pink

This Sunday, it was time for a dose of Parisian culture! First up, a visit to the MusĂ©e d’Orsay. I adore Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, and the MusĂ©e d’Orsay has the most breathtaking collection - it truly was a symphony of color and emotion!

You might think a tutu is a little too outlandish for a museum. However, as any true art lover knows, art is about breaking boundaries and expressing oneself freely. I even found an intriguing exhibition featuring several artists exploring the theme of movement. It really made me ponder how my dancing and my tutus can be interpreted as a form of art, too!

But even on a Sunday in Paris, the desire for more ballet lingered! That afternoon, I found a lovely little ballet class in the Latin Quarter, surrounded by a beautiful, Parisian courtyard, the sun dappling through the leaves of a magnificent fig tree, the perfect setting to perfect my pirouettes and arabesques. It felt like the ultimate "ballet-and-bonjour" Parisian experience.

The evening culminated with an unforgettable show at the Palais Garnier - the Paris Opera. The spectacle of "Swan Lake" is something I’ll cherish forever, and of course, I chose to wear a pale pink tulle tutu that matched the beauty of the stage lights and the elegance of the ballet itself. There is something truly magical about sharing a night with fellow dance enthusiasts - seeing the shared expressions of wonder and excitement for the art of dance filled my heart with joy.

#PinkTutuChallenge: A call to join the Parisian Pink Tutu Revolution!

Paris has a special place in my heart; its enchanting mix of elegance and energy just fuels my love of everything pink and sparkly. But you know what? Parisian magic doesn’t have to stay just in Paris. It can travel to every corner of the world. So my darlings, I have a challenge for you - a call to action!

*I want to see the world dance in pink! *

It doesn’t have to be a fancy Paris gown; any pink tutu will do - fluffy, frilly, a tutu made of simple tulle, even a sparkly pink skirt will do. Don't let anything stop you, you can do it!
