Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #912: A Tutu-licious Time in the City of Lights

Bonjour mes amies!

The Eurostar glided into Gare du Nord and I could hardly contain my excitement. Paris! Finally, I’d made it back to the city of love, fashion, and most importantly... tutus! This is the 912th post on my Pink Tutu Blog, but every trip to Paris feels as exciting and fresh as the first. The air here just hums with life, a symphony of laughter, music, and the delicate tinkling of café bells.

Saturday is a day for exploration in Paris, so I put on my favourite pink tulle tutu, which shimmered beautifully under the morning sunshine, and took off.

Today’s adventures began at the Palais Garnier, home of the Opéra National de Paris. This magnificent building, with its opulently gilded interiors and grand staircase, just oozes drama and grandeur. I spent ages wandering the foyer, picturing all the iconic ballerinas who’d graced this stage. Can you imagine a performance of Swan Lake under these chandeliers? The whole place hummed with magic!

But it wasn’t just the theatre that had me enchanted. I discovered an incredible hidden treasure - a boudoir tucked away just around the corner from the opera house. A true bijou, the Boudoir Paris is a shop overflowing with gorgeous vintage lingerie, tutus, and delicate trinkets, each one a masterpiece. I confess, I spent a good hour browsing, dreaming about waltzing across the streets of Paris in this whimsical, luxurious outfit! You know me, I can’t resist a little bit of pink frill, and I left with the most darling pair of pearl earrings and a bejeweled tiara, because a little sparkle never hurts, right?

Afterward, I found myself on Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the heart of Parisian fashion, where my head almost spun from all the designer stores. I'd be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to indulge in a little retail therapy. After all, it wouldn’t be a Paris trip without some fabulous shopping, would it? I took a spin through a few of the vintage shops, snagged a charming Liberty of London silk scarf (it has adorable tiny ballerina dancing on it!), and finished the day with a delectable macaron and a glass of rosé at the Ladurée on the Rue Saint Honoré.

Oh, and I almost forgot! There’s something even more thrilling happening in Paris today: The Ballet du Grand Opéra is hosting a street performance in the beautiful gardens of the Palais Garnier. And you know I couldn’t miss it! The grace and precision of the dancers, the swishing of the tutus, and the melodic strains of the music…it’s what makes my heart sing. These ballet shows are always incredible, and I can't wait to capture all the highlights on my camera to share with you all.

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without experiencing the magic of its parks and gardens. The Jardin du Luxembourg is truly a fairytale land, with its manicured lawns, serene fountains, and breathtaking sculptures. I spent a dreamy afternoon picnicking on a checkered blanket, reading a Parisian novel, and soaking up the serene atmosphere. And just when I thought it couldn't get any more idyllic, I came across a little girl in a beautiful blue tutu practicing pirouettes by the fountain. She saw my own tutu and grinned from ear to ear. It warmed my heart! Sharing this passion for ballet with young girls like her is what makes all my adventures worth it. And maybe, just maybe, one day we'll all be waltzing around Paris together, dressed in pink tutus!

The day wrapped up with a visit to Shakespeare and Company bookstore, where the scent of old paper and the hushed murmur of readers filled the air. It's a magical place to lose yourself in a good book, especially in a charming corner of this enchanting city.

Tonight, the magic continues! I've snagged tickets to a spectacular performance at the Théâtre du Châtelet. The ballet company has promised an incredible interpretation of La Bayadère with breathtaking costumes, stunning choreography, and a story that will sweep you off your feet. I can already feel the magic building, and I can't wait to share the experience with you in my next blog post!

Stay tuned, my lovely readers! And remember, if you want to live life to the fullest, embrace your inner ballerina and dare to wear a pink tutu.

A bientôt!
