Bonjour mes amies!
It's Saturday, the sun is shining (well, as much as it can in Paris!), and I'm writing to you from my darling little Parisian apartment, just a hop, skip and jump from the Seine! It's hard to believe I'm actually here, in the City of Lights, with my very own Parisian balcony overlooking a cobblestone street. The smell of fresh croissants and strong coffee is wafting through the air - oh la la, it truly is a dream come true!
This trip is extra special. Remember how I mentioned in my last post (Blog post #1311 about my ballet performance in Buxton - don't forget to check it out!) how I was saving my hard-earned tutu-dancing pennies to fund a Parisian adventure? Well, dreams do come true, my darlings, because I'm here!
Speaking of dreams, how absolutely divine was the journey? The Eurostar was an experience in itself. I was in the mood to look chic, so I sported my new cherry pink sequined beret with a black silk top and of course, a fabulously twirly pink tutu (couldn't resist!). Let me tell you, everyone in the carriage turned heads, it was like a Parisian film scene! And it only took a few hours, so before you knew it we were gliding into Gare du Nord – Parisian perfection right before my eyes!
Now, as soon as I stepped out onto the cobblestone streets, I could feel the Parisian magic! Everything feels so stylish and charming, the atmosphere just vibrates with romance and beauty. Honestly, it’s enough to inspire you to pirouette down every cobbled lane. Of course, I can’t resist a twirl or two here and there - imagine the photos, darling! You'll have to see them on my Instagram (it's @pinktutuemma)!
As I write this, I can hear the distant sound of an accordion – just like those dreamy Parisian movies. Oh, to have a life like Audrey Hepburn’s, swirling around Paris in my best tutu, sipping champagne and attending gala balls. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll meet a charming Frenchman like Cary Grant. Now wouldn't that be the ultimate fairy-tale ending!
But, let's not get carried away. Back to reality – Paris! This trip isn’t just about the romance of it all, although there’s definitely a lot of that here. It’s also about exploring all the fabulous things this beautiful city has to offer.
So what's been happening on this glorious Parisian trip? Let me tell you, I haven't wasted a moment!
Thursday: A Romantic Walk through History
Right upon arriving, we (my Mum and I - we always do these trips together!) grabbed a delicious lunch - I went for the French onion soup, it was heavenly! Afterward, we ventured straight into the heart of the city to visit the Eiffel Tower. I couldn't help but feel like a ballerina myself, twirling with excitement as I climbed higher and higher, mesmerized by the view of the cityscape spread out below me. The lights twinkled, like stars scattered across the sky, and even the chilly breeze felt romantic. The perfect beginning to my Parisian adventure.
Friday: Ballet Under the Golden Dome
Now, this is where things got truly magical! We went to see the ballet, and not just any ballet, we were privileged to watch "La Sylphide" at the Palais Garnier. The Opera Garnier! Talk about iconic! It was everything I dreamed it would be, even more exquisite than in the photos. All the beautiful architecture, the red velvet seats, the stunning chandeliers...it's hard to describe the grandeur of this magnificent building. It really transported me to a different era, I was simply enchanted!
The performance was a breathtaking feast for the eyes! From the delicate movements of the dancers, to the romantic and mysterious storyline, every single moment was spellbinding. I think I’ll be dancing in my sleep for the next week! We were all completely swept away by the performance – it was so moving that I even caught myself whipping out my notepad, making notes on the costumes, and jotting down little twirls and jumps for my next routine – pure inspiration, darling!
Of course, I wore a bright pink tutu. (Pink tutu goes everywhere with me! You've got to live your life in pink, girls!) But I felt I had to up the game with a pearl choker to complete my look – chic and glamorous!
And you know what? My outfit got a lot of compliments! Even the lady in the seat next to me, who looked so sophisticated with a feathered hat, whispered to her friend, "She has the most divine sense of style," - I could barely believe it! (This just reinforces my opinion that, really, a pink tutu goes with everything!)
Saturday: The Eiffel Tower Sparkle
Today is all about making the most of the City of Lights! First, we’re planning on trying one of those famous cafes (with pastries!) and then heading off for a romantic picnic at the base of the Eiffel Tower! Of course, I’ve packed a picnic basket full of croissants, fruit, and delicious cheese – it’s all so charming, no? I even got some bright pink patterned napkins. This has got to be one of the most romantic locations in the entire world!
Tonight, however, we’re off to the Moulin Rouge! I’m so excited about the costumes and dancing and I just can't wait to see the famous red windmill! I even packed my most extravagant red and black polka-dot tutu, because you can never be too dressed up for a cabaret show! There’s a chance that there might be some pictures from the Moulin Rouge posted on Instagram, if it isn’t too late! Keep your eyes peeled!
Oh, one last thing, I had to share this little secret. As I walked down a Parisian street, I saw the most beautiful pink ballet shoes in a shop window – not just any ballet shoes, darling, the most exquisitely pink and sparkly shoes, perfect for a Parisian dream! I had to have them.
Of course, they were so divine that I had to get them for myself, you know how it is! (They look so beautiful against my Parisian apartment windowsill, the reflection is amazing!)
And guess what? It’s almost time for me to slip into my fanciest outfit and make my way to the Moulin Rouge. ( I'm planning on a very bold bright red and pink colour palette, with a sequined bodice, to match the Moulin Rouge atmosphere). I promise you the pics will be stunning!
Right, time to do my hair! Catch you next week! Au revoir! And don’t forget to wear your pink tutu today! Let the world know that you are the real star of your own story!
