Bonjour, darlings!
Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad guide to all things fabulous, and this week, I’m writing to you from the most romantic city on Earth: Paris! The City of Lights, the capital of fashion, and a place that feels like a dream, all spun from choux pastry and laughter.
Oh, how I love this place! And this trip, I think, is going to be my most Parisian yet. The EuroStar sped us along, past rolling green fields and sleepy villages, until suddenly the glittering lights of Paris unfolded before us like a stage curtain. And the best bit? I'd booked first-class - a little indulgence with my earnings from my latest ballet performance. My tutu, of course, had a first-class seat too.
My journey, though, started back in Derbyshire, where the rain was lashing down, as if the heavens themselves wanted me to seek refuge in the Parisian sunshine. So, naturally, I packed a pink tutu - a new one, by the way! A tulle dream of blush pink and delicate ruffles, designed by a local Derbyshire artisan. It wouldn't do to visit the fashion capital without showcasing the exquisite skills of our lovely home county.
Speaking of the exquisite, darling, the moment I arrived at my little Parisian hotel - all chic décor and balcony views of the Eiffel Tower - I donned my tutu, a bright splash of colour in the charming grey cobbled streets.
The Parisian air hummed with energy. The first night was spent discovering the charming, narrow backstreets behind our hotel, with the Eiffel Tower shimmering against the evening sky like a celestial ballerina in the distance. Every corner revealed a cafe brimming with cheerful chatter, its windows displaying tempting pastries and steaming cups of coffee. My appetite - and my camera - went into overdrive. And the photos I took are absolutely sensational.
I'm all about embracing the beauty of life, darling. From a delicious picnic lunch at the Jardin du Luxembourg - oh, that fresh bread, that French cheese, that crisp bottle of rosé - to getting lost in the stunning architecture of Notre-Dame Cathedral, it's been a whirl of enchanting Parisian charm.
Saturday, though, is all about the stage. It's the opening night of "La Bohème" at the Opéra Garnier - and the pinnacle of this Paris trip! Imagine: my first visit to this legendary opera house, the most famous theatre in Paris. My tutu will shimmer in the gilded lights of this magnificent space, just waiting for the music to begin its magic. I simply can’t wait!
There's no better place than Paris to be enveloped in the magic of ballet. The air feels charged with anticipation as the performers dance with such exquisite skill and passion. The artistry and grace are simply awe-inspiring, and it always reminds me that I, too, want to share that artistry, bring that magic to all corners of the world, inspiring everyone to twirl with joy.
While it might feel like a bit of a cliche, darling, you know, those little pink twirls really do feel like the very essence of life in Paris! The city pulses with creativity, vibrancy, and, yes, that romantic, almost theatrical atmosphere, making me want to throw my head back and twirl my heart out.
I'll be back on Monday with more of my Parisian adventures, darling. Until then, do go and twirl yourself! Let the pink tutu take over, and allow yourself to be swept away by the joy of life!
Until next Saturday,
Emma xxx
*And now for the pink-tutu diary details - you know I love sharing every exquisite detail, darling: *
- Today’s Outfit: My brand new, hand-crafted, blush pink tutu (made in Derbyshire, of course!), a crisp white blouse and my new Chanel bag. Paris, you make even a basic outfit look utterly chic! I can't help it.
- The Perfect Pink: My favourite cafe on the way to Notre-Dame Cathedral serves the most delicious macarons. Naturally, they're pink - because Paris does pink so very well! The perfect, slightly tart meringue with a delicate raspberry filling is simply divine. And the pink box they're presented in - sheer perfection.
- A Dream in Pink: Oh, darling, I must tell you all about this pink silk scarf I bought at a boutique near the Tuileries Garden. Delicate and soft, it would make a lovely souvenir or perhaps, I shall add it to my pink tutu collection...
- An Evening of Music: Tonight, after "La Bohème", I am looking forward to enjoying a glass of Champagne at the Grand Cafe de l'Opera - it is, of course, an essential Parisian ritual!
- Tips for Your Pink-Tutu Trip: I always travel by train in France! The French rail network is absolutely divine. For all the budget-conscious ladies out there, darling, book in advance - it’s a must for a truly affordable trip!
