Oh la la! Can you believe it? Your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller has finally touched down in Paris! The cobblestones, the charming cafes, the intoxicating scent of pastries… it's everything I've ever dreamed of and more. This week's adventures are all about embracing the Parisian spirit and, of course, spreading the pink tutu love in this magnificent city!
Now, I know you all know I love train travel, and the EuroStar journey from Derby was absolutely blissful. Nothing beats a long train ride with a good book and a window seat overlooking the English countryside, turning into rolling French farmlands. Plus, a touch of pink lipstick and a comfy tutu – what's not to love?
The moment I stepped onto the platform at Gare du Nord, a feeling of sheer excitement swept over me. Paris, with its romantic charm and rich history, had always held a special place in my heart. But I have to admit, I'm in love with its beauty all over again!
Parisian Delights: The perfect Pink DayToday was all about exploring the magic of Paris through the lens of pink and all things twirly. I’m a little late to share it because honestly, darling, Paris has had me in its spell. But of course, it was just too good not to share!
Let's get this blog post started properly! Imagine this: cobbled streets kissed by golden sunshine, charming cafes overflowing with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and delicious pastries, and of course, a Parisian bookstore spilling its literary treasures onto the sidewalk. This was my backdrop, and guess who was ready to take it all in? Me, your little ballerina, twirling through the city in my most vibrant pink tutu!
Firstly, I headed to the Palais Garnier, the opulent and awe-inspiring opera house where so many ballet legends have graced the stage. Even though no ballet was playing, there's magic just walking through its doors! As I imagined ballerinas flitting across the stage, I just couldn't help but do a little pirouette myself. Imagine, just imagine, performing here one day in a pink tutu… the thought makes my heart flutter!
For lunch, it had to be something truly Parisian! Croissants with fresh fruit and a cup of cafe au lait from a local bakery? Perfection. The creamy pastry and the rich aroma of the coffee had me in a swoon.
With my tastebuds delighted and a new, slightly overstuffed pink tutu-covered stomach, it was time to embrace the art of shopping. What can I say? It's an obsession! As I weaved through the boutiques and independent stores, the most beautiful Parisian clothes and accessories caught my eye. Pink silk scarves, pastel dresses, adorable ballet flats… I couldn't resist picking up a few pieces for my pink-tinted wardrobe!
However, Paris isn't all about croissants and clothes (though that sounds pretty delightful, right?). It’s the heartbeat of culture, art, and creativity. After a quick change and some touch-ups to my makeup (always important!), I headed for the iconic Louvre Museum. Stepping into that iconic glass pyramid, surrounded by history and artistry, I felt overwhelmed in the best way. It's such an inspiring place to walk through, I practically wanted to twirl through all the corridors. (No worries, museum staff, I just stuck to twirling my toes!
After soaking in the breathtaking masterpieces, I headed towards the Champs-Elysees for a bit of people-watching and of course, the shopping! Every Parisian stroll must be punctuated with a bit of indulgence. Let’s face it, the shops just seem to beckon you, with all their irresistible displays!
By evening, I had worked up quite an appetite! A Parisian bistro dinner was the only option for a truly authentic experience. Candlelight, romantic jazz music in the background, delicious food and some fantastic French wine. As I nibbled on a beautifully prepared steak (because we all know every good ballerina loves a little protein), I realised it’s these moments that make the magic of Paris so unforgettable! And my tutu just had to twirl a little. A few fellow diners seemed a bit puzzled, but hey, when in Paris, right?
But let's be honest, what's a trip to Paris without a visit to a ballet performance? Luckily for me, "Giselle" was on at the Opéra Garnier! I know this performance like the back of my hand. It is a classic, and even though I've watched it several times, the performance had me enthralled all over again. Seeing those incredibly graceful movements and elegant costumes, and hearing that soaring music – it was pure enchantment. I can’t wait to see what other ballet gems Paris has in store for me.
A Pink Tutu Wish For YouSo, what did I learn on this day in the City of Lights? Paris is a city for lovers – not just of art, food, and fashion but for the love of life itself. I encourage you to embrace this love, explore the charming Parisian streets with open arms, and make a wish to twirl a little closer to your dreams, all while spreading the magic of the pink tutu!
