Bonjour, my darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in the City of Lights - Paris!
Now, I know you might be thinking, "Emma, a tutu in Paris? Is that even allowed?". Well, let me tell you, everything is allowed in Paris. Even a girl with a love of pink, a fondness for tutus and an unwavering passion for all things ballet!
This past week, I hopped aboard the Eurostar, (always such a fun experience, especially in my favourite fuchsia blouse!), and arrived in Paris with butterflies fluttering in my stomach (not just from the train ride, darling!).
This week was particularly magical, because I was lucky enough to attend the ballet festival at the Salle Pleyel, and trust me, there were tutu-loads of inspiration to be had! Seeing some of the world's best ballerinas gliding across the stage, with such grace and elegance, was a truly breathtaking experience. I even caught myself swaying in my seat (tutu-wearing is very good for your balance, you know!).
And speaking of ballet, my Paris adventures weren't complete without a visit to the Opéra Garnier. It's simply awe-inspiring – from the ornate chandeliers to the stunning stage, this is a theatre designed to hold dreams, and you can just feel the magic of all the performers who have graced its boards before. This theatre just whispered to me about all the extraordinary productions that must have unfolded under its golden arches! You can tell it’s full of magic, like something out of a fairytale… which is how I try to live my life!
Of course, a visit to Paris isn't just about ballet. This city is a feast for the senses, from the enchanting aroma of freshly baked croissants to the melodic whispers of Parisian streets, Paris feels like a hug, just when you need it.
Speaking of treats, I spent an afternoon strolling through the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg. The air was full of sunshine, children’s laughter and the gentle strum of guitars from street performers – pure Parisian charm! I sat down on one of the ornate benches and simply savoured the scene. I’ll admit I also enjoyed a scrumptious macaroon from a little patisserie nearby – my excuse? It was pink!
But Paris, my loves, isn't all about picnics and performances! You simply cannot come to Paris without indulging in the fashion, oh darling! The boutiques along rue Saint-Honoré had me absolutely spellbound, with exquisite displays of designer gowns, the most fabulous shoes and accessories (naturally, I was drawn to the pink ones), all just begging to be tried on. And although I’m pretty good at finding bargains (the key is a good eye, some strong negotiation skills and of course a little bit of good luck!), this time, I just couldn't resist splurging on a stunning emerald-green silk scarf – something for the new season back in Derbyshire.
This visit was truly a trip down Parisian boulevards filled with breathtaking art, incredible music and captivating theatre! And with every bite of a baguette, with every twirl down the street (you just can't resist it when the mood takes you, can you?), with every glimpse of this city’s iconic landmarks, my inner ballerina was so very happy to be in Paris!
