Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #1462: Parisian Dreams in Pink!

Bonjour mes chéries!

It's Emma, your pink-loving, tutu-touting ballerina from Derbyshire, back with another exciting post! This time, I'm live from the City of Lights, Paris, and let me tell you, my heart is absolutely brimming with joie de vivre!

This trip was a bit of a dream come true, partly because of the obvious, I mean, who doesn't love Paris? But also because of the way I got here! Imagine my delight when I landed myself a part in a charity performance of Swan Lake in…drum roll please… Brighton! (Cue the confetti and the Champagne wishes!). I love supporting good causes, and this performance was the perfect blend of spreading joy and funding my little Paris trip.

And what a journey it was! The Eurostar is definitely my favourite way to travel – all those delicious Parisian snacks and the exciting scenery whizzing by just make my heart sing! I was particularly enthralled by the channel tunnel – talk about magic!

The first thing that hit me when I stepped out of Gare du Nord was the buzz of the city – people everywhere, the Parisian chatter, and the enticing aroma of pastries… I couldn’t help but think “ooh la la”!

So, let’s dive right into what's been happening! Today is Saturday, 1st January 2028 and guess what? It’s Bastille Day! ? No, not that Bastille Day – that one is in July! Today's version is almost as exciting. Apparently, January 1st is now also Bastille Day… it celebrates… something to do with French independence and freedom… but who cares? The excuse for delicious French pastries, gorgeous champagne and even better outfits is always a winner in my book! ? And speaking of outfits...

Parisian Fashion - An Ode to Pink

Okay, let's talk about the fashion! Paris, you absolute beauty! Even though it's January, the Parisian ladies are rocking their style. It’s definitely chic, sophisticated and there's just so much inspiration in the air! You just can't help but want to slip into something pretty and elegant.

As usual, my trusty pink tutu was in tow. The cobbled streets of Paris and its historical landmarks just seem to beckon you to twirl. But this time I paired my favourite blush-pink tutu with a black blazer and some sparkly flats. I think I just discovered my new Paris-approved, "chic and comfy" look, if you will! Of course, no pink tutu outfit is complete without a sprinkle of Parisian flair. A dainty floral headband, a cute little beret and some bold red lipstick… a real mix and match! And you know what, it works! I really think I could pull off living here! ?

Parisian Performance - Let's Talk Ballet

Paris, you know, it’s more than just an incredible fashion capital. This city is buzzing with arts and culture, and it's a treat to witness it all firsthand. I mean, how many times in your life do you get to witness an actual real Parisian ballet show? (Cue the heart-eye emojis!) I'm a huge ballet fan (obvs!), so this was a must-do for my trip!

I headed straight for the famous Palais Garnier opera house. You could tell this place is steeped in history just by its grandeur – talk about impressive! There were actually two ballet performances this weekend, but the one that really stole my heart was "La Fille Mal Gardée." It was simply stunning.

Now, here’s something to think about - If you want to inspire everyone to wear pink tutus - what better way to do it than through a show about tutus!? The performance was so captivating and inspiring, even my dad, who normally groans when I drag him to ballet (even if it is at the Royal Albert Hall… ?) admitted to being totally engrossed! He even got up to cheer at the end… well, mostly to keep me quiet! ?

Shopping & Delicious Bites

Of course, no Parisian escapade is complete without indulging in some shopping! Paris is truly a shopper's paradise. I spent most of my time browsing the boutiques along Rue de Rennes, admiring all the charming shopfronts and those exquisite window displays! It was like a real-life version of those delightful magazine photo spreads that make you wish you were a Parisian. And if those little boutiques hadn't captured my heart already, let me tell you the vintage shops on Rue Mouffetard are pure Parisian gold! My wallet is certainly weeping right now, but my wardrobe is ecstatic!

I don't even have to tell you what I did after the boutiques, right? Of course! Treat yourself – the Parisian mantra! It’s a very tempting philosophy! ? From divine croissants, perfectly toasted pain au chocolat, delicate macarons and delectable crêpes – I tried absolutely everything! If it was on the menu, I indulged. Honestly, if they served pink tutu-shaped pastries I would have bought a dozen… Maybe I’ll suggest it for next year. ?

And how can you talk about Paris without mentioning the Eiffel Tower? It truly is the symbol of Parisian romance, elegance, and sophistication! I’ll admit it was very touristy, but it was a magical experience nonetheless. To climb the tower, bathed in the soft glow of the evening sky, and then gaze at the glittering cityscape, with its twinkling lights... it truly was unforgettable.

And before you even ask, of course, I wore my tutu! It was pink, it was glittery, and it matched the Eiffel Tower lights beautifully! The Parisian locals just adored it. They looked at me with eyes full of fascination, curiosity, and, of course, just a touch of jealousy (lol). It’s like, “you’re brave wearing a tutu on the Eiffel Tower”, I say “and you’re beautiful, Paris! Don't get jealous of my tutu… but really you’re totally beautiful and deserve to be in the pinkest tutu!”… I mean, what more can I say!

But don’t get me wrong - my time here wasn't just about shopping and sightseeing! One of the best things about this trip has been the opportunity to experience a little bit of Paris’s cultural soul.

Parisians - They're Actually Kind

I spent a lot of my time wandering around the quartiers (that's neighbourhoods for you non-French speakers) , discovering quaint cafes, exploring art galleries, and mingling with the locals.

The Parisian people really took me by surprise – they were truly wonderful! They were super friendly and warm. They helped me out with directions, patiently answered my beginner French (very, very, beginner – Bonjour! Au revoir! Merci beaucoup!), and even posed for photos with me.

The local artists especially embraced my love for tutus. One lovely painter, at a small art stall by the Seine, even dedicated a small portrait to my “bright, vibrant spirit!” It's on my bedroom wall at home – truly special. I may not understand much French but I am certainly becoming fluent in gestures and that “vous êtes belle” (you are beautiful)! ?

This trip has been such a whirlwind of experiences. Paris, you've truly captured my heart with your elegance, creativity, and delicious food. The energy of this city is captivating, and I just can’t get over how well people dress! You have me falling head over heels for Parisian life – and possibly pink tutus. ?

Paris, you’ve truly inspired my “wear-a-pink-tutu” campaign. Who knows? Maybe the next Pink Tutu blog post will be from right here in your dazzling streets! ?? Until then, take care, and happy dancing, mes chéries!

Stay Pink & Keep Twirling!

Love, Emma xoxo
