Pink Tutu Prague - Week 6: Ballet Bliss in the City of a Hundred Spires!

Hello my darling tutu-lovers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, your weekly dose of all things pink, pretty, and pirouette-worthy. Today's blog post, my sixth instalment from the magical city of Prague, is dedicated to all things ballet.

Last Wednesday, I left you with the image of a sun-drenched, cobblestone Prague street. Now, imagine that charming scene painted with the most glorious backdrop – a magnificent, 18th-century theatre, resplendent in history and grandeur. This week, I’m finally ready to share my adventures in Prague’s vibrant ballet scene.

You know I can't resist a little pre-show treat, so this Tuesday I treated myself to a delicious slice of honey cake and a pot of steaming, sweet chamomile tea at Café Louvre. A real slice of Viennese charm nestled in the heart of Prague's Old Town. After indulging, it was off to explore Prague’s Old Town Square, my little heart brimming with anticipation. This week’s show, at the stunning National Theatre, is “Giselle,” a classic romantic ballet – my absolute favourite!

It was love at first sight. The National Theatre is a masterpiece in neo-Renaissance style. I nearly swooned when I saw it! Tall columns reaching for the heavens, elaborate stone carvings and glimmering chandeliers casting an enchanting glow. It felt like a scene from a fairy tale! My outfit was ready - a hot pink tutu with shimmering diamante detail - it’s perfect for catching the light.

Inside, I was greeted by a cascade of whispered conversations, the murmur of excited children and a beautiful symphony of rustling silks and taffeta. It’s like every person in the theatre had just stepped out of a dream. This sense of enchantment only intensified when the curtain rose and the first notes of the music swept through the theatre. I was in the presence of pure artistic brilliance. The dancers, graceful as swans, moved with effortless fluidity, telling the story through every twirl and arabesque.

"Giselle" is a beautiful story about a peasant girl betrayed by love. The choreography was absolutely breathtaking - the romantic pas de deux with Albrecht was the epitome of classical elegance. There’s nothing quite like the magical, tragic journey of “Giselle,” performed by such gifted artists, and under the shimmering brilliance of the chandeliers. The costumes, those romantic tulle skirts swirling in a dreamlike ballet of emotions, added to the magic, just like the ones I love to twirl in! I felt so very fortunate to be here, immersed in this perfect moment of beauty and artistry.

Of course, every dancer knows the most important step before any performance – preparing for a show! It's an art in itself - like prepping for a royal ball! Before every performance, I make sure my ballet shoes are ready – every tiny pleat in place! The ritual of pinning my hair and tying a delicate, flowing pink ribbon just makes it all the more magical. There’s nothing like feeling my favourite tulle swirl around my legs as I step into the theatre. A bit like Cinderella!

My journey this week was even more enchanting – and all thanks to my trusty horse, Clover. She’s not your average pony – she has a personality as big as her beautiful golden mane, and she loves to gallop! Clover's been with me since I first came to Prague, and she’s the perfect partner for exploring its beautiful hidden gems. This week, we explored Petrin Hill - a magical hill that overlooks the entire city! A grand and towering look-out tower stands high, and the views were breathtaking!

On our ride, I was swept away by the charm of Prague’s pastel-coloured houses, and the smell of the warm, buttery Czech pastries I stopped for! The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a soft glow over the cobblestone streets and charming, brightly painted buildings. My heart was soaring with the feeling of pure, sweet bliss, a bit like a swan gracefully gliding through a glistening lake!

But this trip has been so much more than just dancing and horses – Prague’s vintage fashion scene has captured my heart! I am absolutely mad for clothes and all things beautiful. From vintage lace dresses to sparkly brooches, Prague is a treasure trove for a girl who loves vintage. On Sunday, I discovered a hidden treasure - a charming boutique in the Old Town, bursting with all the pastel wonders you could dream of! The sales assistant helped me pick the most fabulous peach-coloured satin dress with beautiful pearl buttons. It’s the perfect outfit for my next grand ball. Or just a day of sightseeing!

As you all know, I believe that everyone should experience the magic of a tutu – especially in a place like Prague! The City of a Hundred Spires is as vibrant as a thousand twirls! I am absolutely obsessed with all the romantic pastel shades I’ve discovered here, and I simply cannot resist picking up some adorable, frilly pink tutus for myself and my followers. Every pink tulle dream for all you amazing tutu lovers! I’ve got one lined up in lavender with lace trim, a bright hot pink with glitter, and even a soft, powder pink perfect for any budding ballerina. Keep your eyes on the pink-tutu.com website - they are coming soon!

And speaking of tutus, this week I had a real treat – I had a ballet lesson at the most incredible ballet school! It's a secret little gem, hidden away in a peaceful courtyard - a quiet haven amidst the bustling city! The teachers here were simply wonderful, and they were so impressed with my skills, telling me that I have real talent! Now, I need to find an excuse to wear that sparkly hot pink tutu - perhaps even perform! The ballet world of Prague is calling me – what an amazing adventure!

So there you have it! Prague is an intoxicating mix of romance, elegance and historical charm, and it truly has stolen my heart. I've fallen in love with everything here: from the delicious dumplings to the ancient cobbled streets to the vibrant art scene and the friendly locals – Prague truly does live up to its reputation as the most beautiful city in the world. I’ll be sure to share more adventures as I delve deeper into Prague's rich history and its beautiful, breathtaking architecture.
