Prague Post #27: Ballet in a Bustling City

Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means - it’s time for another Pink Tutu adventure! Today, I’m beaming from beautiful Prague, where the cobblestone streets, fairytale architecture and the rhythm of the city itself make it feel like a real-life ballet. Honestly, I feel like I could spin across Charles Bridge, right onto the steps of Prague Castle and land in a perfect pirouette!

This week, my travels have taken me a little further afield. After a whistle-stop tour of Paris - where I discovered the most adorable, vintage-inspired tutu shops, you know me, just had to grab some new feather boas - I hopped on a train to Prague, my eyes wide with anticipation.

And this city has truly exceeded my expectations! The pastel hues of the buildings, the echoing music emanating from hidden corners, the buzz of life everywhere - Prague is absolutely enchanting. I even saw a street performer who incorporated a pink feather boa into her dance routine! That's what I call inspiration!

A Pink Tutu Adventure:

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to catch the Ballet of the National Theatre perform Swan Lake. Honestly, the emotion! The skill! The beautiful dancers gliding across the stage like they were born with wings. Swan Lake has always been a favourite of mine. The graceful movements, the intricate story - it really encapsulates the true essence of ballet for me. And there's just something so powerful about seeing a ballet performed live.

Speaking of ballet, my love for this art form stretches far beyond simply attending performances. Ballet history, the iconic tutus of the greats, the legacy of grace and precision - it's a fascination I can never get enough of. I've been researching the history of ballet in Prague, and let me tell you, this city has a rich and fascinating story to tell. I discovered that the National Theatre opened its doors way back in 1881 and has since housed some of the most talented ballet companies in Europe. Now that is impressive!

Fashion in Prague:

Of course, my trips are never complete without a little bit of fashion exploration, and Prague has not disappointed! I've been browsing the boutiques, drooling over exquisite silks, decadent lace, and dazzling crystals, imagining them swirling and flowing as I move through life. Honestly, Prague feels like the perfect place to get inspired. You wouldn't believe the vintage clothing shops I've stumbled upon! I'm going to start incorporating some of their styles into my pink tutu looks, trust me!

This afternoon, I plan to explore Prague's enchanting Old Town Square. There’s this beautiful clock there called the Astronomical Clock that has these moving figures and a bit of a show every hour, all orchestrated to the tinkling of a tune. Isn't that just the most ballet-esque imagery? Maybe it'll inspire a few more graceful pirouettes.

I have a feeling that I'll be writing about this trip for a while. I am so utterly smitten with Prague.

Speaking of writing, I just have to mention my latest obsession. The other day I stumbled upon the most enchanting little cafe where I spent an entire afternoon with a cup of rich, aromatic coffee and a pile of new ballet books! Now that's what I call a productive afternoon.

Until next week, darlings!

Lots of love, Emma
