Prague, My Darling, Prague! Post #130

Oh, darlings! This week, I've been absolutely swept off my feet by the whimsical magic of Prague! It's been a whirlwind of stunning architecture, charming cobblestones, and of course, some absolutely divine ballet – what else could I ask for?

This trip has been funded by my recent performance in a lovely little theatre in Derby, a truly magical evening with an overflowing audience. The energy was palpable! I swear, I could feel the twinkle of those little fairy lights in the ceiling, even under the stage! It always feels wonderful to share the gift of dance and then head off on a new adventure. This week, it was the magical, romantic Prague.

Now, I must tell you about my arrival in this stunning city. I took the train – I love the rhythmic clinking of the train tracks as you glide along, the landscape flitting past your window – it feels like the whole world is a ballet stage in a way. I felt like a character in one of those charming Agatha Christie novels, I can just imagine myself solving a murder, with my tutu of course! tut, tut, that* was quite the mystery, don’t you think?

I got myself a lovely little apartment in the old town – very cosy and quaint. Just like the charming old buildings around here, I thought I’d go for a very vintage look and I dressed myself in my most darling pale pink tea dress. You’d never believe it, I saw someone in Prague wearing exactly the same thing the other day! It’s simply delightful, isn’t it, how a shared love of vintage chic transcends borders!

Then came the ballet! The Prague State Opera was my ultimate destination, and I confess, I’ve been dreaming of it since last week.

Oh my, the performance itself was a total delight! The sheer talent of the dancers was just...captivating! It was Don Quixote, one of my all-time favourite ballets. Every single gesture, every leap, every pirouette was so fluid, so beautiful, so emotional - It reminded me that ballet is an art form that transcends language, it speaks directly to your heart! There’s nothing like the thrill of seeing a performance that just moves you to tears, that takes your breath away!

Now, there's something really quite special about Prague...it has such a rich history of dance. There's just this aura of romance, you know? It’s not just the city itself; it's also the ballet tradition here - one of graceful movements and elegant tutus. Imagine me, darling, spinning gracefully through the charming cobbled streets, my tutu swirling like a delicate petal in a whirlwind. It's such a feeling of pure bliss!

You wouldn’t believe the fabulous things I have seen on my adventures around Prague - it’s just * bursting with beautiful details* – think cobblestone streets, charming cafes, gorgeous baroque architecture, even those lovely, old lampposts! Pure perfection!

Oh! And don't even get me started on the fabulous shops! I found myself absolutely entranced by all the stunning fashion: gorgeous vintage fabrics, unique boutiques filled with vintage treasures, it's a veritable fashion wonderland! I picked up the most charming little straw hat adorned with a beautiful silk bow. Just imagine, darling, a pink tutu paired with this lovely hat… the epitome of girlish charm. Don’t you think?

I even found this amazing antique shop with the most exquisite ballet shoes. They were made with silk, lace, and satin, each stitch lovingly handcrafted. They were such delicate treasures that they took my breath away.

Later that evening, I discovered a quaint cafe in the heart of Old Town. It’s hidden away, behind a lovely arched doorway - oh, so romantic - just like in my dreams. They serve the most incredible knedlíky (dumplings), they’re soft, fluffy, and perfect! They were absolutely divine with a dollop of škvarky (crispy fried pork cracklings). Don't be afraid to explore, darlings, because Prague holds many secrets. And just wait till I tell you about the beautiful Czech horses I saw, you know they’re my absolute weakness - I mean just look at that silky mane and their beautiful eyes, darling… just perfectly dreamy!

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without a lovely stroll over the Charles Bridge – I found the view absolutely captivating – all those little lamps, the stunning bridge, and the cityscape glittering behind, ah so perfect! The most magical part, though, is when you can actually see the dancers from the opera, on their way to perform. You feel so close to the world of dance… I’m always looking for inspiration – every glimpse into the artist’s journey is a little glimpse of something beautiful. That’s my passion, darling, bringing more beauty into this world, inspiring everyone to spin, leap, and dance with confidence!

My dear reader, this trip has truly been a magical journey of romance, beauty, and of course, a touch of pink magic. I must admit, I already long for the moment I can return to the wonderful, enchanting city of Prague! But you know what? There's still so much more of this delightful city to discover. It seems Prague has this truly unique quality, I feel as if the city’s hidden away an endless stream of charming surprises just for me, a little sprinkle of magic and joy around every corner!

Don't forget to catch my next post - I'll be writing all about my next adventure! (And you’ll just have to wait and see what delightful pink outfit I wear next, mwah ).

And do keep up the spinning, dancing, and dream-chasing!

Lots of love, Emma
