Prague in Pink: Ballet, Bubbles and Bohemian Charm (Blog Post #150)

Wednesday 11th March 1998

Darling readers!

I'm writing to you from the heart of Prague, where the cobblestones sing and the river Vltava whispers stories of centuries past. Yes, my pink tutu-clad feet have graced this beautiful city and I'm already smitten! This trip has been a whirlwind of ballet, bubbles and Bohemian charm, and I can't wait to share every glorious detail with you.

This week, the website marks a momentous milestone: 150 blog posts! Honestly, I never imagined I'd be sharing my love of pink tutus with so many of you. Your support means the world, my dearest readers! You've truly made my pink dreams come true.

A Bohemian Ballet Bonanza

Landing in Prague felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The architecture is simply stunning, all soaring towers and intricate carvings. My little pink heart couldn't take it! But the real reason I journeyed here was, of course, the ballet. This city has a rich history of dance, and it was no surprise to discover that the National Theatre is renowned for its performances.

Tonight's performance was a breathtaking rendition of La Bayadère. The dancing was divine, the costumes opulent, and the music utterly transporting. The heroine, Nikiya, had the most gorgeous pink and emerald tutu - truly fit for a queen. Seeing that on stage, I couldn't resist twirling around in my own pink tulle number right there in the theatre lobby! Luckily, the ushers had a sense of humour.

Tutu Trivia Time!

Speaking of tutus, did you know that the iconic pouter-pigeon silhouette wasn't invented until the mid-19th century? Prior to that, ballerinas were more akin to dainty fairies than billowing tutus!

But my journey isn't just about the ballet, darling. It's also about indulging in all things lovely, and Prague is a haven for shopping and fashion. Yesterday, I stumbled upon the most charming boutique called "Láska". It was filled with whimsical dresses and exquisite accessories. Of course, I couldn't resist purchasing a silk scarf, perfectly pink and delicately embroidered with little ballerina dancers. It'll look fabulous tied around my bun.

Travel Tales: On The Tracks and Through the Trees

My travels here were as delightful as the destination itself. After bidding adieu to the Derbyshire countryside, I took a glorious train ride through the German countryside. The train windows revealed picturesque towns and rolling fields, bathed in golden sunlight. I even spotted a fluffy white sheepdog sitting on the window sill of a train carriage - how darling!

But the truly unique experience came during a stopover in the Bavarian Alps. Instead of a car, I decided to try a pony carriage! My charming driver, Franz, told me it was an ancient tradition in the region. It felt like something straight out of a fairytale! We traversed winding mountain paths and breathtaking vistas - my heart soared with joy.

A Day in Prague: Finding My Perfect Pink

This morning, I woke to the sweet chirping of birds outside my hotel window, overlooking the Charles Bridge. The sunrise was a wash of pastel hues, painting the city with delicate magic. The perfect start to a day filled with discovery!

I explored the city centre, finding every corner more enchanting than the last. From the Astronomical Clock, frozen in time, to the cobbled streets echoing with the chatter of locals, Prague seemed to hum with history.

But the true highlight of my day was a visit to "Pink Paradise," a boutique filled with the most delectable shades of pink! They had dresses, handbags, scarves - you name it! The owner was a delightful lady, as enthusiastic about pink as I am! I even snagged a little porcelain ballerina figurine, which is now gracing my vanity table.

Sharing the Pink Love

I always try to spread the love for pink and tutus whenever I travel. It's about celebrating the joy of life, of embracing colour and grace. And believe me, darling readers, there's no better way to do that than through dance.

Tonight, I'm off to watch a street performance. Imagine, a ballet performance under the starlit sky in a bustling Prague square! I can already feel the magic bubbling!

This city is captivating and whimsical, but there's nothing more beautiful than sharing my adventures with you. Stay tuned for more stories from Prague and beyond!

And don't forget, you can always find me on www.pink-tutu.com - where the pink never ends!

Love always,
