Pink Tutu Prague - Post 153 - The Magic of Prague 🩰

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means - a brand new Pink Tutu post is here! This week, I'm whisking you all away to the stunning city of Prague, a city of enchanting charm, architectural wonders, and… well, you can probably guess the rest! 😉

After a gloriously scenic train journey from Vienna, I arrived in Prague, ready to explore every cobbled corner of this magical place. Let me tell you, there's no better way to travel than by train. The rolling countryside just melts away the stress, and there's something incredibly romantic about watching the world go by from a plush carriage seat. I think even my tiny chihuahua, Pip, agrees, though I wouldn't exactly call his fluffy little nose pressed against the window "romantic"! 🐶

But enough about the journey. Let's get to the heart of Prague!

I arrived at my little haven, a boutique hotel with a sweet balcony overlooking a quaint little courtyard, bursting with life and fragrant blossoms. It's the perfect spot for a pink tutu-clad ballerina to unpack her bags and plan her week's adventures. And believe me, there are adventures to be had in this enchanting city.

Prague Ballet: A Touch of Tradition and Elegance

This week, I had the sheer joy of witnessing a beautiful ballet performance at the beautiful National Theatre. It's an iconic building, right on the Vltava River, and simply oozes charm and history.

Stepping into the theatre was a sensory overload in the best possible way! Velvet curtains, intricate chandeliers, the smell of old wood, and of course, the vibrant hum of anticipation before the curtain rises. And then, the magic began. The performance was exquisite – a classical ballet, filled with graceful movements, powerful leaps, and emotional storytelling, each step leaving me breathless. It was a beautiful tribute to the power and artistry of classical ballet.

And my pink tutu, my dearest companions, played a perfect part! Pink and the colour scheme of the theatre just blended together perfectly, I practically sparkled with every twirl, and you know I can't resist the chance to perform a little for those nearby! 😂 I think everyone's caught the Pink Tutu bug. They're not too keen on the ballerina poses though!

Speaking of history, I took a deep dive into Prague's fascinating ballet heritage. The city has been home to renowned dancers and choreographers, boasting a rich tradition dating back to the 18th century. You can feel it everywhere you go - it's in the architecture of the beautiful opera houses and theatres, and the quiet murmurs of the city’s ballet lovers.

A Pink Tutu in Prague's Fashion Scene

Now, you know me and my insatiable love for shopping! So, I had to indulge in a bit of retail therapy at Prague's gorgeous shops. The streets here are simply bursting with treasures - designer boutiques, vintage havens, and local artisan crafts.

I even found a darling little pink-and-white dress, perfect for a "tea at the cafe" moment with my new friend, charming little Katerina! She's the sweetest soul, and she even taught me a few words of Czech! I always say, language is a bridge between cultures and, oh my, Prague has a certain je ne sais quoi, don’t you agree?

An Afternoon with Prague’s Romantic Side

For an afternoon of pure bliss, I hopped on a horse-drawn carriage (the only way to explore a city, in my opinion!), and we rode through the heart of Prague. We crossed the Charles Bridge, where artists display their work under the watchful gaze of statues and, wow, let me tell you, that bridge!

It’s breathtaking. There’s a charm about it, a sense of history and love and art woven into every stone. It felt magical, seeing those old medieval bridges against the backdrop of modern city life.

And finally, no visit to Prague would be complete without experiencing the city’s famous astronomical clock. That incredible medieval clock tower, that chimes with an astonishing array of moving figurines, every hour is a sight to behold,

Food, Fun and Fashion - A Prague Daydream

My lovelies, let me tell you, Prague’s cuisine is something to write home about! From hearty goulash and delicious smoked meats to fresh baked bread, there’s a delightful treat for every taste bud.

Of course, I had to try my fair share of delectable desserts - traditional sweet treats like trdelník (cinnamon swirls), and křupavý koláč (crispy fruit cake), with delicious dollops of cream, simply irresistible! And naturally, each was savored in style with a delicious latte or herbal tea ( I try to keep my tutu form as perfect as possible!)

But more than the deliciousness of food, it’s the atmosphere that gets you in Prague, the cafes, the terraces with colourful parasols, the street performers, and the chatter, all so lively and alive! It makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

You see, my loves, that’s the thing about Prague: it’s both vibrant and enchanting, filled with a beautiful sense of history, artistic brilliance and of course, oodles of charm! This trip has been an absolute joy for the senses!

So, as I sign off from this incredible city, I'm filled with so much pink-hued gratitude, for Prague has captured my heart (and filled my soul with inspiration). It’s a place to be discovered and loved, and I hope you’ll add it to your travel list. Until next week!
