Prague Dreams in Pink: Post #158
Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger, here, straight from the cobblestone streets of Prague! This beautiful city, with its fairytale architecture and whimsical charm, has captured my heart, just like a perfectly executed pirouette captures the attention of the audience.
*And, of course, it's Wednesday, which means another fab post on my much-loved www.pink-tutu.com! *
I arrived in Prague last Saturday after an exhilarating journey through the picturesque countryside by train. There's something so magical about travelling by train, isn't there? Watching the scenery flash past as you glide through the heart of Europe ā it's almost like stepping into a storybook.
Once I reached my delightful hotel in the old town, I threw myself into the delights of Prague! It was as if Iād stepped into a fairytale. The pastel-hued buildings with their ornate facades, the winding cobblestone alleys lined with charming boutiques, and the sweet smell of fresh pastry wafted through the air, filling me with joy. Oh, I could spend an entire month in Prague and still have more to discover!
But, letās face it, my dear readers, the main attraction in this charming city wasn't the cobblestones, the charming cafes, or even the picturesque bridge.
It was the Ballet.
Yes, darling! Prague, with its rich history and passion for the arts, boasts a vibrant ballet scene, one that captured my heart the moment I set foot in the city. As I twirled down the streets of Prague's old town in my pink tulle skirt, a symphony of laughter and appreciation filled the air, and I realised that maybe, just maybe, pink tutus are not only delightful to wear but also encourage spontaneous joy!
The National Theatre Ballet - An Unforgettable Night
This Tuesday, my lovely friends and I visited the National Theatre, Prague's cultural jewel. I knew Prague was known for its world-renowned ballet, so naturally, my pink tutu skirt was the perfect ensemble for such a grand occasion.
My friends are actually not entirely ballet enthusiasts; however, after one glance at my outfit and a whisper about an enchanting ballet performance featuring Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, they readily agreed to this delightful cultural outing! Perhaps my tutus are truly persuasive, my darlings!
But darling, what's a ballet trip without a little bit of retail therapy? I mean, I wouldnāt be a true pink tutu lover if I didnāt treat myself to some Prague souvenirs!
I explored the streets around the old town square, soaking up the sights, scents and sounds of the city, all while seeking the perfect pink accessory to complement my outfit. It wasnāt hard.
This charming little shop, nestled between a medieval tavern and a chocolaterie, caught my eye with its adorable displays. I just had to go in.
Oh my goodness, my darlings! This was no ordinary shop! It was a treasure trove of colourful handmade fabrics, beautiful brocades, and vibrant beads, the likes of which Iād never seen before. I discovered some truly exquisite handmade flower headbands that would go perfectly with my pink tulle skirt ā a necessary addition for a Parisian ballet enthusiast like myself!
After all, a pink tutu girlās got to have her pink accessories, and what's more perfect for a pink tutu lover than an accessory handmade with love? It's practically a requirement, Iād say.
Let's talk about tutus, darlings! My current travel-tutu collection has a few favourite pieces:
A classic ivory tutu with cascading tiers of delicate tulle, which is perfect for an elegant evening performance.
A short pink tutu, crafted from multiple layers of feathery tulle, perfect for dancing on a Parisian rooftop under a sparkling sky, I dream of the Parisian rooftop tutus, I shall add one to my collection soon, one must never stop dreaming of such a grand collection.
My **travel tutu. A versatile, multi-layered tutu which can be dressed up or down. Perfect for both formal events and everyday errands - just add the right accessories, darlings!
I believe there's a pink tutu for every occasion! If you're not already rocking a pink tutu, what are you waiting for? Embrace your inner ballerina! This is your life - and there's nothing more powerful and joyous than expressing yourself.
But before I get carried away with my favourite topic, let's rewind and talk about my evening at the National Theatre. I truly couldnāt wait for the ballet.
The performance of "Swan Lake" at the National Theatre was utterly captivating. The artistry and precision of the dancers, the enchanting music, and the grandeur of the theatre all combined to create a truly unforgettable evening. I couldn't stop taking pictures - my phoneās memory is now completely filled with breathtaking images of the elegant dancers gliding through their routines, their movements graceful as butterflies fluttering in the summer breeze.
Ballet inspires me so much! It is not simply a performance, my dear readers. Itās a reflection of human emotions, expressed through the universal language of movement.
However, even for the most seasoned ballet enthusiasts, an evening of beautiful dance and powerful music demands some fuel, and the National Theatre, fortunately, offers a delightful selection of culinary delights in their elegant, but inviting cafe. My friends opted for the local Czech fare ā and frankly, they werenāt disappointed.
However, this little English ballerina was determined to embrace her heritage and sampled the theatre's selection of classic British staples: delicious cheese and pickle sandwiches, a traditional Cornish pasty, and of course, an assortment of sweet treats. All of these delightful flavours were enjoyed in a setting truly fit for a queen, as only Prague's national theatre can offer!
After such a lovely dinner, the final act of āSwan Lakeā transported us all into another world. A beautiful and bittersweet experience I shall treasure always. It truly felt like magic, and the entire audience was mesmerised, their eyes fixed on the elegant dance of the ballerinas and the strength and grace of the danseur. The performance ended with the roaring applause of a delighted crowd. I admit, I almost let out a little pirouette of joy in my seat! Itās good that nobody noticed me, darling, for I might not have executed the pirouette perfectly after that long train journey, that pasty and cheese sandwich and a rather lovely pint of beer or two!
The following day, I embarked on a whirlwind tour of Pragueās artistic attractions. The Municipal House and its grand ballroom were just stunning, so utterly breathtaking. I wandered around its rooms with my camera, taking picture after picture of its lavish decor, chandeliers dripping with crystal, and intricate frescoes on the ceilings. Then I decided, why not embrace this opulent moment? It was an ideal moment to enjoy a glass of Champagne and soak up the atmosphere! A perfect excuse for a small pink-tutu-loving Parisian celebration.
I truly had an amazing time exploring the treasures Prague holds for those of us who love the beautiful things in life, especially the art of ballet, and I cannot recommend Prague enough to fellow ballet enthusiasts! I hope my stories of dancing through Prague inspire you to experience this magical city for yourselves!
This is a trip Iāll be talking about for a long time to come ā just like the fabulous tutu that has been an inseparable part of this wonderful journey, my beautiful pink tutu will be a reminder of this incredible time!
As my final stop on my grand Prague adventure, I stumbled upon the Dancing House. What a peculiar and charming landmark it is, built by Frank Gehry and Vlado MiluniÄ in 1992. Just a unique combination of style and elegance, but not necessarily traditional architecture.
Iām certainly not a critic of the āDancing Houseā. But this was a delightful end to a beautiful experience. The building reflects the dynamism and joy of Prague! The Dancing House will always remind me of the lively, colourful city I have enjoyed, and the pink tutus and their magic.
As my Prague adventure draws to a close, I cannot help but be filled with a mixture of nostalgia and anticipation for my next grand adventure, wherever it may take me.
For now, I am leaving Prague with a heart full of memories and a wardrobe brimming with newly found accessories - all pink, naturally!
Until next time, my dear readers! Be sure to stay tuned to the www.pink-tutu.com blog, which I update weekly on Wednesday, to catch up on all my latest adventures in ballet and travel! I would love to hear from you in the comments.
