Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballerina's Wonderland - Post 191

Hello lovelies!

It's Wednesday again, and that means a fresh blog post from yours truly, your very own pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma! This week, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague! I've been dreaming of visiting this historic city ever since I saw that iconic bridge on the cover of my grandma's old travel book - you know, the one with the Charles Bridge and the fairy tale houses and cobbled streets? I've always wanted to dance along the river bank in my pink tutu, surrounded by its ancient beauty.

Now, don't judge me. You all know I have a penchant for pink tutus, and this city is practically tailor-made for it! The pastel houses and cobbled streets are just begging for a ballerina in a swirling pink tutu, wouldn't you agree?

But before I indulge in all things Prague, let's talk about the journey!

Travelling by train from Germany was truly a dream, I was absolutely enchanted. The views were stunning! Rolling hills painted in a canvas of green and gold, with glimpses of medieval towns and towering cathedrals. I was lucky enough to nab a window seat, so I spent hours peering out the window, lost in the passing landscapes, and dreaming of ballet in some of these amazing historic cities. I'm even considering hopping off in the next charming village I spot. Maybe tomorrow I'll do a little research. It’s all very exciting!

You see, when it comes to getting around, trains have a special place in my heart. There's just something so romantic about gliding along the tracks, a whiff of smoke in the air and the click-clack of the wheels, perfect for letting your mind wander, contemplating life, the universe and of course - tutus. It really is a great time to catch up on my Ballet history readings and daydream.

As I sit here in my hotel room, the city outside bathed in a golden glow from the setting sun, I can’t help but feel utterly giddy. This city has such a timeless, elegant feel to it, I love how they blend historic beauty with modern flair. I just have this feeling I'm about to have a ballet adventure for the ages, maybe even get some inspiration for my next pink tutu collection!

Of course, my journey wouldn’t be complete without a little shopping spree! Prague's got some truly delightful shops tucked away in charming alleyways. It's all about the unique and quirky finds for me, and I must say this city delivers! Imagine, you’re walking past a historic church, with its impressive stained glass windows, and you spot a hidden little shop filled with delicate lace and beautiful antique trinkets – It's pure enchantment! The fashion here has this ethereal, vintage touch that I adore. And you know I have to try and pick up a little souvenir or two – and I’m definitely adding a touch of Prague to my next performance!

But let’s talk ballet! Prague is a city known for its rich history of ballet and performing arts, so you know I'm going to be seeing a show. It's one of those cities that I always find so inspiring for my performances and helps me learn even more about the history and evolution of ballet, and how it translates in different settings. Plus, Prague just has this certain kind of atmosphere – think candlelight and velvet seats in grand theaters – that just calls out to a ballerina!

So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out about the incredible programme happening tonight. We're going to the National Theatre, a jewel in Prague’s crown. A beautiful grand, 19th-century building that, just for tonight, will be hosting " The Nutcracker"! Oh, my goodness, if I hadn’t been wearing my pink tutu already I definitely would have popped to my luggage for it. I simply cannot wait.

My fingers are crossed for a performance that'll make my tutu twirl with delight. I imagine soaring pirouettes against a backdrop of Prague's historic architecture and beautiful stage costumes. Can you see me doing the sugar plum fairy routine against this breathtaking backdrop? And perhaps after the performance, we’ll find the most charming restaurant with fairy lights twinkling all over, maybe even catch a glimpse of the moon as we enjoy some traditional Czech food – this really does feel like a storybook moment.

Oh, you guys, the wonder of ballet!

Speaking of wonder… you can already imagine my excitement, can't you?

On Thursday 24th, we have the amazing chance to spend an afternoon with a world-famous ballet company here in Prague! We'll be getting the full ballerina experience. You’ve probably already seen some of their shows on my socials – They are simply incredible! They'll be giving us a chance to peek behind the curtain at what they’re up to in rehearsal. You know, I love peeking behind the curtain into what goes on in ballet studios! From the moment the barre is set up, to the minute the dancer’s feet glide across the floor, it's inspiring and magical. And, for me, there’s something just incredible about a whole company's energy – I absolutely love learning how the dancers build up their synergy together. I think it will give my future shows and workshops a lovely boost of inspiration too.

Now, as much as I love dancing myself, there's also a certain thrill about watching some of the most talented dancers on the planet bring a story to life through their art! So, the chance to learn from them directly? Absolute dream.

Don't even get me started on all the delicious things we're going to try! We’re even thinking about going to the Old Town Square and sampling the Trdelnik. You can smell it everywhere, its scent seems to follow you like a magical wisp of sweet goodness. A chimney cake? Why not? That sounds incredibly scrumptious. This city seems to be offering delicious treats on every street corner, and, honestly, a ballerina must keep her strength up!

There’s a sweet cafe I’ve heard so much about that makes their own traditional Prague pastries and is known for its vintage decor, complete with an elegant pink tutu-wearing ballerina (imagine my joy!). It’s just across the street from a gorgeous medieval square, where we might take a stroll for a pre-ballet nibble, if you’re not too shy to be spotted with me in my pink tutu, of course!

So, to sum up this amazing city: I'm obsessed with the pastel-coloured houses, in awe of the historical sites and charmed by the friendly faces I've met so far.

Prague, you are pure magic!

But more than anything, it's the feeling of wonder I've been feeling in my heart. It's the kind of magic only found in a city brimming with history, artistry and sheer beauty. I can’t wait to show you all my beautiful adventures! Stay tuned, my lovelies!

Until next week,

Emma
