Prague - The City of a Thousand Spires (And a Hundred Pink Tutus!) 🩰✨

Hello my darlings,

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a new Pink Tutu Prague blog post! This week’s post is a special one – a peek into my adventures in this magical city. Prepare to be dazzled by a kaleidoscope of colours, a whirlwind of excitement, and of course, lots of pink!

Post Number 193: The Pink Tutu Arrives in Prague

It’s a familiar story – a girl, a pink tutu, a thirst for adventure. But this time, the journey began in the quaint Derbyshire village where I grew up, complete with its winding lanes and that distinctive Derbyshire air. Now, the pink tutu and I have embarked on a journey across the continent, arriving in Prague in the most charming way possible - by train. I adore travelling by train - the rhythm of the rails, the ever-changing landscapes…and the opportunity to break out my new pink sequined slippers! (Of course.)

The journey itself was a performance of sorts - the scenery changing like a breathtaking ballet. The emerald green fields gave way to rolling hills dotted with charming towns, their tiled rooftops and towering spires shimmering like a fairytale. And of course, my own pink tutu was the pièce de résistance!

Prague: Where Beauty Lies Around Every Corner

The moment I arrived in Prague, I felt as though I had stepped into a living, breathing fairytale. This city truly has something magical about it - it’s like a storybook come to life! Prague’s architecture is simply stunning - a harmonious blend of medieval and Baroque influences. Imagine gabled buildings draped in ivy, cobblestone streets echoing with history, and imposing bridges adorned with a thousand twinkling lights – every corner whispers of romance and charm. It’s no wonder it’s known as the City of a Hundred Spires!

A Parisian Dream in Prague - A Tutu & the Louvre

Speaking of fairytale elements, how could I possibly resist visiting the stunning Prague Louvre? It’s so wonderfully whimsical with its enchanting architecture and grand collection of artwork. The beauty of this museum reminded me so much of the Louvre in Paris! And I certainly dressed the part - a light, pink, floaty tutu, topped with a black velvet jacket, and my trusty sequined flats. I was the epitome of chic elegance, perfectly balanced with a hint of playful ballerina magic. (Naturally.)

The paintings were breath-taking. And then there were the sculptures, with their captivating postures, reminding me of ballet performances in all their majestic grace. It was like stepping back in time, witnessing artistry at its peak! The entire museum felt like a stage waiting for me to dance upon, the art and sculptures becoming my partners, whispering tales of centuries past.

Dance Lessons with a Difference: Prague’s Ballet Gems

Speaking of ballet, one of my favourite parts of my Prague adventure was visiting a local dance academy! Imagine my delight - Prague's ballet scene is a truly vibrant one! I managed to secure a place in a ballet class led by a renowned teacher with a passion for the art form as fierce as my own. It felt incredible to be moving my body to such captivating music while absorbing the teacher’s wisdom, every move flowing as effortlessly as a ballerina’s grace.

What made it truly magical? I was dancing amidst a whirlwind of colours, pink of course taking centre stage, amidst a symphony of other ballet colours - soft, buttery yellows, vibrant turquoise, and rich emerald green! Every turn and leap became a miniature performance - a celebration of passion and movement! And let’s just say I felt every inch the prima ballerina, the pink tutu flowing around me with each graceful step!

A Ballet Performance: Under the Sparkling Stars of Prague

After my exhilarating dance class, it was time to experience Prague's magic under the twinkling stars, with a breathtaking ballet performance. Imagine - the National Theatre with its elegant facade and intricate architecture. As I made my way to my seat, the symphony of Prague’s sounds – a soft hum from the street below and the rustle of excited patrons – felt like a ballet performance in its own right!

The stage, aglow with brilliant lighting, beckoned me into the world of ballet, its dancers a whirlwind of grace and artistry. It was a performance where each movement told a story, a story of passion, hope, and triumph, the very essence of ballet! It was an explosion of colour, with vibrant costumes in hues of fuchsia and cerise, every shade enhancing the dramatic effect of the choreography.

Oh, the pink! It wasn't just in the tutus either - I noticed little splashes of pink in the backdrop, adding that extra dash of fairytale charm. I felt myself transported to another world, captivated by the artistry of the dancers and the mesmerizing symphony of the orchestra. I emerged from the performance in a trance, feeling a new burst of inspiration!

A Walk Through History with My Pink Tutu

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without exploring its historical landmarks, each one telling a fascinating tale of the city’s rich past. I simply couldn't resist wandering through the Old Town Square – with its astronomical clock, which chimed its whimsical melody while I took it all in, lost in its magic. And let’s not forget Charles Bridge! Every archway seemed to hold whispers of the centuries past. And, let’s not forget Prague Castle, perched on a hilltop, offering the most breathtaking views of the city, every rooftop, spire, and bridge like a miniature ballet performance set. It’s a city where history breathes life into every corner, and its magic makes you want to stop, listen, and simply be!

And what was the finishing touch to my historical explorations? Of course, my pink tutu! I felt like I was a princess from another era - a little sparkle in a world full of history, my tutu a reminder that even the past can be sparkling with a hint of joy.

Fashion Adventures in Prague

Prague is a shopaholic's dream! It's a fashion haven, and where can you find a more beautiful pink tutu than right here in the City of a Hundred Spires! It seems that Prague's boutique streets were tailor-made for a tutu-wearing girl like myself!

From quirky independent shops filled with vintage finds and bohemian delights, to luxury boutiques housing the latest trends - Prague offers something for every taste! And as for the colour pink? This city truly celebrates its joyful glow. Everywhere I looked - there were gorgeous pink dresses, shoes, bags, scarves - it was as though the shops knew I was coming and had prepared a pink parfait of delight just for me.

The Pink Tutu Goes Out On the Town - The Theatre Scene

Every city has its own heartbeat, and Prague pulsates with a rhythmic joy that can only be found in a place as unique and enchanting as this. The streets are vibrant, with a melting pot of cultures coming together in perfect harmony.

One of the highlights of my Prague adventure was spending an evening exploring the city’s vibrant theatre scene! I love experiencing the theatre’s vibrant energy and the sheer talent it holds - and Prague’s theatre world didn’t disappoint. With it’s magnificent, old-world venues and cutting-edge performances it truly enthralled me from the very first moment.

And the pink tutu made an entrance on the theatre scene, of course! It looked like a ballet performance was about to begin - it’s just too enchanting to keep under wraps, isn’t it? I felt a true sense of magic while watching the theatrical magic unfold on stage - I felt completely enchanted! The characters, the scenes and the stories - each one felt like a mini-performance within a performance. It was as though the theatre stage itself was spinning, drawing me into a world of enchantment with its every turn and twirl.

My Pink Tutu Takeaway – The Enchantment of Prague

Prague is an incredibly beautiful city with its charm overflowing in every corner. As I make my way to my hotel room, I feel enchanted by it all - the architecture, the food, the history, the art, and, of course, the pink.

Prague - it's a city that has captured my heart in ways that no other city has before and I'm already looking forward to my next visit to the City of a Thousand Spires - it's a place that makes you believe that everything is possible!

And of course, I can't leave you without a little bit of inspiration: Prague has a certain je ne sais quoi that invites you to let your imagination take flight - and in doing so, we can all make the world a more beautiful place!
