Pink Tutu Prague: Whirlwind Week in the City of a Hundred Spires (Post #212)

Hello lovelies!

This is Emma, your pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving travel buddy, signing in from the magical city of Prague! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another dose of pink-tutu-fuelled adventures on my beloved www.pink-tutu.com. I hope this finds you all twirling in your very best pink tutus, embracing life's every pirouette.

This week has been absolutely breathtaking, a whirlwind of stunning architecture, delicious Czech food, and of course, plenty of ballet – both on stage and in the cobbled streets of Prague!

Prague's Charm: From Spires to Streets

Stepping out of the train station (after a delightful journey on the overnight express from Vienna – nothing beats travelling by train!), I felt like I’d landed in a fairytale. Prague’s architecture is truly mesmerizing. I'm talking gothic spires, ornate bridges, pastel-coloured buildings, and cobblestone streets that beckon you to explore. My camera hasn't stopped clicking – every corner holds a postcard-worthy scene.

It feels like a film set! The beauty is truly overwhelming, and the city is alive with a delightful energy. Whether you’re sipping coffee in a charming cafe, wandering through the bustling market square, or simply admiring the intricate carvings on a church façade, Prague draws you in with its fairytale charm.

Ballet Dreams: A Tale of Two Performances

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without a ballet performance. This week I had the absolute pleasure of witnessing two amazing shows, and I'm still buzzing!

The first was a performance at the National Theatre. This historic theatre, a symbol of Czech national pride, hosted the world premiere of the ballet "The Good Soldier Švejk", based on Jaroslav Hašek’s satirical novel. Now, I'm no stranger to ballet history, but the depth and historical significance of this performance made me realize just how intertwined ballet and national identity are. The ballet was both humorous and insightful, exploring themes of war and human nature with masterful artistry. It was a treat for the mind and soul!

Then, a night out at the charming Tivoli Theatre. Now, this theatre is a sight in itself – a beautifully restored gem tucked away in the heart of Prague. This night I enjoyed a dazzling "Swan Lake". As usual, I was completely transported by the graceful choreography, the stunning costumes (one could only dream of a tutu that beautifully) and the masterful performance of the ballerina. This show, however, felt even more special. It's the magic of theatre, the intimacy of a smaller space, the connection you feel with the dancers. Every single detail, from the flickering stage lights to the final applause, was just pure magic.

Pink Tutu Style: Prague's Fashion Gems

Speaking of magic, my pink tutu was absolutely shimmering throughout these performances. The city is brimming with charming shops and boutiques that showcase stunning designs, unique pieces, and captivating local artistry. From delicate handcrafted jewellery to vintage treasures, I found some truly irresistible pieces to add to my wardrobe! A stunning Bohemian scarf in shades of plum and ivory and a silver necklace adorned with crystal butterflies? Oh yes, I snagged those treasures immediately.

A Pony and A Picnic

Now, what trip to Europe would be complete without a delightful ride? While I might be partial to a train journey (a vintage carriage, even better), Prague also boasts another gem – pony riding! This weekend, I discovered a little oasis just outside the city, where you could take a delightful stroll on a beautiful horse through the meadows. There was even a lovely picnic table to enjoy some traditional Czech delights – sausage, pretzels, and plenty of beer! My pink tutu, thankfully, was absolutely horse-riding worthy! I was delighted to wear it throughout the trip. A tutu girl's gotta dress for comfort wherever she goes.

Next Stop?

The Pink Tutu Prague adventures are just beginning, lovelies. Next week, I'll be sharing all about my discoveries of charming Prague markets, my search for the perfect hand-painted ceramic teacups, and of course, the delightful coffee shop where I spent an entire afternoon people-watching and sketching a masterpiece (pink tutu and all!).

Remember, life is a dance, so wear your pink tutu, twirl through your days, and never stop dreaming!

Love and tutus,

Emma
