Prague: A Ballerina's Dream in Pink! (Post #226)

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and this week, I'm writing to you from the breathtaking city of Prague! It's a bit of a departure from my usual Derbyshire countryside rambles, but when you're a ballerina, the call of the stage can take you anywhere, and this city just beckoned me with its rich history, fairytale architecture, and, of course, the promise of some divine tutus!

It all started with a very special performance opportunity in Vienna - a charming theatre nestled amidst cobblestone streets. I simply adore these intimate spaces, where you can almost feel the magic of the past seep into the air as the orchestra begins to play. As always, the audience was absolutely delighted with my "Enchanted Garden" piece. I even managed to weave in some dazzling spins while wearing a tutu so frilly it practically had a life of its own! The applause afterwards was truly heart-warming.

Following my performance, it was straight onto the train - a plush compartment just for me - and I settled in with a cup of Earl Grey and a good book. The countryside zipped past in a blur of rolling hills and charming villages, the rhythmic chugging of the engine putting me in a trance. As a self-proclaimed travel enthusiast, I simply adore journeys like these.

But back to Prague! I arrived just in time to take a stroll along the Charles Bridge, basking in the golden hues of the evening sun. It truly was a moment straight out of a fairytale, with the Baroque towers and arched bridges mirrored in the Vltava River. My mind, naturally, went straight to tutus, picturing how perfectly the setting would be for a ballet inspired by the bridge’s history. Imagine a swirling dance amongst those centuries-old sculptures, a ballet about love and loss set against the backdrop of the city's dramatic history. A little dramatic, perhaps, but so wonderfully inspired!

But my adventure in Prague was just getting started. You see, dear readers, Prague is practically brimming with exquisite antique shops and designer boutiques. I couldn't resist dipping into them, on a hunt for that perfect tutu, a vintage piece that would truly capture the city’s essence. I imagined a pastel pink, perhaps with delicate embroidery or a hint of lace. A tutu that would twirl like a whisper of wind amongst the gothic architecture of Prague's old town square.

I spent hours, browsing in awe amongst racks of vintage fabrics and silk. And I stumbled upon something extraordinary! A tutu, like a vintage dream come true! A vibrant blush pink with layers upon layers of delicate tulle. The kind of tutu that begs to be twirled under a glittering chandelier, its colours dancing in the light. It practically sang "Prague" from the moment I laid eyes upon it! And yes, dear readers, you guessed it – I simply had to have it.

Now, I’m in Prague, ready to fully embrace the magical charm of this city. The next few days are packed with delightful discoveries: a visit to the captivating Old Town Square, exploring the whimsical Prague Castle with its intricate architecture, and indulging in the delightful Czech cuisine, all while planning for the weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, it's August 25th and it’s a date for the calendar! The National Theatre is hosting a breathtaking performance of the timeless ballet “La Sylphide,” a ballet so full of romanticism and enchanting melodies, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I’m hoping to spot a tutu as delightful as the one I discovered at that wonderful antique shop, and perhaps even see the ballerina's graceful movements spark a fresh idea for my next pink tutu creation.

And speaking of creativity, dear readers, it is time for you all to let your imagination soar. The "Pink Tutu Challenge" is now officially launched! Yes, you heard that right - it’s time to embrace the pink and wear it loud and proud. Be it a dress, a scarf, a hat or anything else that brings a splash of colour to your life. I want to see all your dazzling pink creations on social media using the hashtag #PinkTutuChallenge!

Let’s make the world a little more fabulous, one pink tutu at a time!

Until next week, when I’ll be regaling you with the highlights of my weekend in Prague,

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
