Prague Post #368: Tutu-ing Through Prague đŸ©°đŸŒž

Bonjour mes chĂ©ries! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another installment of my pink-tutu-fied adventures! Today, I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Prague, where the cobblestones are whispering stories of centuries past, and the air is filled with the scent of delicious pastries. As always, my faithful pink tutu has accompanied me on this journey, and let me tell you, it's been a right whirlwind!

This week, I arrived in Prague via train. Now, let's be honest, there's nothing quite as charming as a train journey, is there? All the swaying carriages, the little villages flashing by, and that delightful “clickety-clack” sound that just makes me want to tap my toes and dream of ballet. I’d even bring my darling pony with me, if I could! He wouldn't have appreciated the underground tunnel though. He is, after all, an absolute equine gentleman.

Prague itself has instantly stolen my heart! The architecture here is just dreamy, like a fairytale come to life. And the food? Oh, my darlings, let me tell you, there are pastries so scrumptious they could inspire even the most jaded ballerina to pirouette. I even found the most darling little shop on the old town square, crammed with exquisite vintage tutus. (Imagine my delight, a whole shop devoted to the perfect pink, puffy tutu of my dreams! The lady said she hadn’t seen anything quite like it and wondered if it were for a costume.) I, of course, had to try a few on, and let me tell you, they'd be simply perfect for a waltz in the cobblestone squares. Sadly, they only go up to size 12, I did mention it’s all vintage, right?

As a seasoned ballet buff, you just know that Prague's rich history in the world of dance would draw me in, wouldn't you? So, naturally, my first stop had to be the National Theatre, a true architectural marvel. Standing on the banks of the Vltava river, it's a glorious monument to Czech art and culture. Inside, there is the most gorgeous ballroom and a spectacularly decorated ceiling. The theatre's interior is filled with a palpable history of talent and creativity. And guess what? They even have their very own Ballet Company, which boasts an incredibly talented group of dancers! Oh, how I'd love to watch their graceful leaps and turns!

You won't believe the absolutely incredible news I received while wandering through the historic heart of Prague. The National Theatre has an exceptional performance scheduled for tonight – Swan Lake! Imagine my joy, dear readers, for I just adore the exquisite storytelling, the powerful dance, and of course, the graceful ballet swans. It’s the perfect ballet for a night under the Prague sky! Oh, darling, if only you could be here with me! I imagine we'd sip on pink cocktails and nibble on sugared almonds while admiring the ethereal beauty of this timeless tale. I even found the perfect little hat and a stunning, pink velvet cape to go with my tutu for tonight!

Now, darling, before I have to head off to the ballet, let’s have a little chat about tutu history, something I know you’re always fascinated by, as am I. It turns out the evolution of the tutu is fascinating, even for a tutu aficionado such as myself. From the romantic long tutus that were in vogue during the first ballet in 1841, all the way to the sleek and modern designs we see today, each new generation of tutu reflects its era, showcasing a kaleidoscope of imagination and artistic expression. Isn’t it wondrous how this simple piece of clothing can symbolize not only elegance and artistry, but also the evolving spirit of the age?

You may be asking yourself “Emma, but what is your plan?”. My aim in life, dear readers, is to spread the love of the pink tutu far and wide. I believe that every woman should have at least one pink tutu in her life – even just for a giggle! (Unless they’re not into pink – pink is obviously my preference, and we mustn't judge others.)

My mission is to make tutus accessible to every woman. It doesn't matter if you’re a professional ballerina, a shy introvert, a confident leader, or a busy mom, there's a pink tutu out there just waiting to be danced in by you. They can be anything: elegant and dramatic, soft and sweet, or edgy and daring.

The tutu, I firmly believe, embodies a sense of freedom and liberation. When we slip on that swishy fabric and twirl, we shed our inhibitions and embrace our inner child, the one who doesn't care what people think, just how high she can leap and how many twirls she can do before getting dizzy!

Today's the 15th of May. And do you know what that means? It’s the anniversary of a ballet masterpiece! On this date in 1865, The Bluebird took flight at the ThĂ©Ăątre Lyrique in Paris! Oh, the glorious story of the bluebird who sets out on a magical journey, with a touch of love and some delightful fairies!

Speaking of magical journeys, I think it's time I got dressed for the evening and put on my little dancing shoes! But before I leave you, my darlings, do take a moment today to put on a pink tutu, find a mirror, and twirl! Do you know what? There's no need for a mirror. I am sure you can do it perfectly in the air, in your bedroom, anywhere! You can’t go wrong with a little bit of tutuing!

Stay beautiful, darling!

XOXO

Emma
