Pink Tutu Prague: Post #411

Hello darlings! Welcome to this week's Pink Tutu Prague, your weekly dose of pink, fashion, and ballet from your favourite ballerina blogger.

It’s Wednesday and, as usual, I'm fresh from my ballet class in my trusty pink tutu, perched in the cosy cafe of my beautiful Prague hotel.

This week, I've been absolutely giddy about all things Prague. From exploring the breathtaking Charles Bridge to discovering the enchanting Old Town Square, every corner of this city oozes history and beauty. But the highlight of my week? It had to be my trip to the magnificent National Theatre to see Giselle - a truly breathtaking experience!

Tutu Time:

The first rule of a tutu-obsessed girl? Always be prepared. So of course, I had a delightful selection of tutus ready for my adventures in Prague. This week, I was particularly taken by a gorgeous dusky pink tutu that twirled with the elegance of a swan lake. It perfectly matched the blushing sky as I strolled across the Charles Bridge, admiring the intricate architecture and taking in the mesmerising view of the Vltava River.

But don't get me wrong, the rest of my wardrobe was no slouch. It was bursting with vibrant shades of pink – a hot pink feather boa to complement my hot pink tutu for a street performance, a pale pink cardigan for a touch of sophistication while indulging in coffee and pastries in the old town. You see, dear reader, a tutu girl knows how to dress for every occasion.

Ballet Bonanza:

Ah, Giselle! I have always loved this story of a young peasant girl and her tragic love for a prince disguised as a peasant. But experiencing this masterpiece at the National Theatre took the whole experience to a new level. The performance was a whirlwind of emotions – I laughed, I cried, I gasped at the technical prowess of the dancers. And that grand finale, oh my, it left me breathless!

I had the honour of speaking to one of the ballerinas, an incredibly kind and generous soul. She confided in me that she loves Prague just as much as I do, claiming it's one of the most magical cities for dancing, steeped in so much ballet history. She mentioned that Giselle has always been popular here – in fact, the first Prague performance of the ballet was in the 19th century.

A Blast From The Past:

Talking about history, I'm also obsessed with tutu history. As soon as I see a tutu, I'm trying to decipher its design, its history, its meaning. I’m so lucky to have discovered the breathtaking National Theatre Museum – it has the most incredible collection of ballet costumes and artifacts, with exhibits detailing the evolution of the tutu over the centuries. They even had some original 19th-century tutus, including some from Prague’s ballet past. It’s almost like you can see the history of ballet unfold right in front of you!

And for a real trip down memory lane, I took a ride in one of those beautiful vintage trams that travel around the city centre. You see, they're still powered by those little electric "pony" trams, which remind me so much of a vintage photograph I found in a shop downtown - an image of Prague trams taken right after World War I.

Shop 'til you Drop:

Prague’s vintage fashion scene is divine. After a morning of ballet museum hopping, I found myself drawn into the beautiful shop filled with rows upon rows of vintage clothing. Imagine, a little shop crammed with the most gorgeous lace tutus from the 1930s. It was like stepping into a fashion dream!

As you know, I’m always on the lookout for perfect pink tutus and, much to my delight, this one was simply irresistible. I paired it with a vintage velvet jacket and a straw hat and felt like I had stepped out of a beautiful old postcard, all ready to waltz down the streets of Prague.

The rest of my day was dedicated to exploring the vibrant shops, each overflowing with an exciting array of unique fashion finds. From gorgeous embroidered fabrics to playful patterned hats, there’s truly something for everyone in this city.

A Word to my Devoted Readers:

As I continue my adventures in this charming city, I hope you are all well, busy twirling your own way to a fabulous week. And don't forget, my darlings, the world is waiting for a pink tutu revolution. Keep the faith, and may your days be filled with colour and joy!

* Until next Wednesday!*

Lots of love,

Emma
