Prague: Pink Tutu Travels - Post 427

Dearest Tutu-lovers!

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means… Pink Tutu Prague is back, darling!

This week, my travelling tutu took me to the magical city of Prague, a fairytale place where cobblestone streets wind like ribbons and ancient castles gleam like gilded crowns. Honestly, it's like stepping right into a ballet performance! I swear I could almost hear the delicate tinkling of the orchestra as I wandered around the Old Town Square, where the Astronomical Clock, a breathtaking marvel of mechanics, tells time with its dancing figures.

Before we delve into my Prague adventures, darling, do let me introduce myself to any new readers. I'm Emma, a ballerina at heart who just can't resist a vibrant pink tutu. You'll find me flitting about the world, documenting my experiences on this little corner of the internet. My life is all about sharing the joy of dance, discovering new corners of the world, and of course, indulging in my love of all things pretty. This weekly blog is a testament to my belief that life is an exquisite dance, best lived in a tutu – preferably a pink one.

Now, back to Prague!

I journeyed here by train, a true romantic way to travel. The carriages, like elegant drawing rooms, whirled through the green landscapes of Germany and the Czech Republic. As we zipped through rolling fields, I envisioned myself as a ballerina in the old Russian train journeys. I'm sure there was at least one ballet based on this type of travelling. Hmm...a potential for a future ballet inspiration, I shall file that away.

Now, darling, I wouldn’t be a true tutu-wearing ballerina without experiencing Prague's famed National Theatre. This elegant building, adorned with statues of dramatic figures, stands tall on the banks of the Vltava River. Oh, what a stunning sight, like a dream from a forgotten era.

And inside? Simply divine! Plush red velvet seats and intricate carvings transported me back in time. The stage shimmered with an anticipation that made my heart flutter with excitement. The programme, ‘The Nutcracker’ a truly magical piece of choreography and such a favourite for many, was a perfect ballet for a chilly July evening in Prague. Tchaikovsky's timeless music wove its way into my soul as I was whisked away by the dancers' delicate grace. Each movement, each arabesque, every pirouette was a masterpiece of human expression, telling a story of love, bravery, and of course, a little bit of magic.

Naturally, I've been dancing the days away with some ballet classes. Oh, they are a joy, so vigorous and refreshing. The instructors were amazing, teaching in an elegant studio full of the smell of fresh wood. It's an amazing feeling being back in the studio! It makes me wonder, should I try a ballet class in a pink tutu next time?

But Prague is not all about ballet, darling! The city's fashion scene is just as captivating. You can find exquisite boutiques brimming with bohemian chic, tucked away on narrow, cobblestone lanes. Every shop seemed like an elaborate stage, showcasing intricate fabrics and dazzling accessories. Of course, my personal shopping haul was a delightful mix of Czech glassware and a stunning floral patterned skirt which is most certainly going to feature in one of my ballet outfits.

One day, after exploring Prague’s Old Town Square and the picturesque Charles Bridge, I discovered a little hidden gem: a charming vintage shop. I'm a sucker for vintage and this shop was a treasure trove of forgotten gems! With a smile, I was treated to a symphony of pastel-coloured, hand-knit cardigans. Each one seemed to whisper a story of a forgotten time.

Then came the delightful surprise… amongst the vintage dresses, there was it! A pink tutu, with intricate hand-sewn embroidery, like a whisper from a bygone era. I could just see myself twirling on a stage wearing it, the light catching its ethereal sheen. This, my darling, was not just a tutu. It was an heirloom, a piece of history! And with a twirl of my own, I had to add this little treasure to my collection.

One day soon, darling, I’ll find the perfect stage to wear it upon!

Speaking of stages, I found a little street theatre performance near the Jewish Quarter. A talented group of performers filled the streets with their energy and charisma, juggling, doing unicycles, and even playing musical instruments. It felt like a street carnival and a joyous celebration of art, the true meaning of street performance at its best. It truly inspired me to plan a pink tutu-themed street dance performance - watch this space!

Naturally, darling, no journey to Prague is complete without experiencing the city's exquisite culinary delights. From hearty stews to delicate pastries, every mouthful was a delightful symphony of flavour. One place I couldn't resist was the Cafe Savoy, an architectural beauty, with decadent art deco furnishings. Oh, to sit there with a slice of delicious cheesecake and a hot drink, while watching the world drift by outside...such a delightful treat.

After all this exploring, darling, it was time for me to bid adieu to this beautiful city, filled with its charm, the cobbled streets, its colourful buildings and the captivating sights, but it is my intention to come back very soon. It will be wonderful to have the opportunity to indulge in a second helping of Prague's magic!

So, until next week, darling, remember… life is a dance, and you deserve to wear your own pink tutu.

Much love, Emma
