Prague: Pink Tutu Dreams Come True (Blog Post #466)

Hello, darling tutu enthusiasts! It’s your favourite pink-loving, twirling ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the most enchanting city in Europe - Prague! 🩰💖 As you all know, Wednesdays are for Prague blog posts and today is a very special Wednesday indeed. Why? Because drumroll it’s the day I’m sharing all the magical details of a pink tutu-filled weekend here in Prague!

Prague is everything you could dream of. Think cobbled streets, breathtaking architecture, a fairy-tale castle, and a whole lot of history, with a splash of pink and a dash of tutu thrown in, of course. Now, before I delve into all the lovely things I've been up to, a quick catch up on my latest pink tutu adventures:

Firstly, you won’t believe the absolutely fantastic ballet performance I gave at the grand theatre in Derby last weekend. The Derbyshire audience was completely charmed by my interpretation of "Giselle," particularly my "Dying Swan" act. And that was all thanks to a very special pink tutu - Pink Whispers - crafted with delicate layers of tulle and shimmering Swarovski crystals. 💖✨

The money I made from the performance has been enough to fund this fabulous Prague adventure! And honestly, nothing beats exploring Europe by train. It's such a relaxing way to travel and you get to enjoy the scenery as you go - no airport queues, no luggage fees. And it means more money to spend on, well, more tutus! 😄

I must confess that the highlight of my Prague trip has been the magnificent ballet show I saw at the Prague National Theatre on Saturday night. But let's back up a moment.

It all began with a lovely afternoon spent browsing through vintage shops, searching for the perfect little something to wear for the evening’s performance. Prague is an absolute haven for antique tutus. It’s all the elegance of a vintage ballerina, with a touch of Parisian chic, in a fabulous and rather decadent pink of course. The most charming tutu, which is actually so pink it’s practically magenta (you can’t blame a girl for loving a little more pink) I have ever laid my eyes on - "The Pink Pearl" - found its new owner on Saturday, a very excited Emma. 😉 I absolutely had to add a sparkly pink fascinator to my shopping bag too! 👒 It was all too perfect.

I made a grand entrance at the National Theatre wearing "The Pink Pearl," and, you know, all eyes were definitely on me - or so I like to think. ✨ Even the theatre ushers couldn't resist smiling at me, I’m sure! After a leisurely stroll through the theatre (every chance to twirl, right?) and a delightful chat with the man in the box office - a very charming gentleman with a rather fabulous collection of pink silk bowties, by the way - I found my seat, with my delicious programme and my absolutely sparkling opera glasses.

The performance - "Swan Lake" - was, dare I say, absolute perfection. From the dazzling costumes (let's not forget the other pink tutus) to the breathtaking choreography, it was a feast for the eyes. Watching the ballerinas glide effortlessly across the stage, their movements as graceful as the flight of a swan, was simply mesmerising.

And then it was time for the famous 'White Swan' pas de deux. Let's take a minute to appreciate the sheer beauty of those magnificent tutus. I'd describe the ballerina's tutu as almost ethereal in white - the perfect complement to the elegance and refinement of the entire performance. And speaking of refinement, I swear I saw a real, genuine Prince charming (though I had my suspicions when he seemed particularly captivated by "The Pink Pearl.") But, no, I must stop myself, it's important not to daydream at the ballet. We must focus on the art! 😉

I was left breathless by the sheer elegance of the performance, mesmerised by the intricate movements, and awestruck by the delicate beauty of the tutus. But honestly, I didn't want it to end! But of course, like all beautiful things, it did. I think it’s safe to say that this trip to Prague was all that I had hoped for and more - I even added it to my personal “favourite places to wear a pink tutu” list, which, honestly, is growing every day! 🩰💖

But let’s get back to the business of our weekly pink tutu adventure…

Did I mention that I visited the charming old town square? I actually met the cutest little black poodle wearing a tiny pink tutu - almost like a little princess poodle. Adorable. ❤️ I swear, the Czechs really are obsessed with pink! But who can blame them, right? I even saw a vintage boutique dedicated solely to vintage tutus! So naturally, I had to walk in with "The Pink Pearl," for a little Tutu-Twirl moment. What can I say, I just love tutus! And Prague seems to feel the same way, the more tutus, the merrier, it seems!

Speaking of pink, you have to try the "Pink Flamingo" dessert at Cafe “Cacao” - chocolate mousse, raspberry coulis and topped with a beautiful meringue cloud - truly decadent, and so worth trying if you're looking for a treat. 😉

My darling tutus and I also indulged in a lovely morning at the dancing studio near Old Town Square. The space was just delightful. And it made me want to take up ballet once more! I’m already planning a trip to Prague later in the year with more pink tutus in tow. There are just so many tutu-filled dreams yet to be fulfilled!

And what’s on in Prague next week? On Tuesday, there’s a free classical music concert at the Charles Bridge. And Friday, a vintage costume market near the Charles Bridge.

I'll definitely be adding this market to my shopping list - my fingers are crossed for another perfect tutu treasure! And if I'm lucky, I might even see some adorable pups wearing pink tutus at the market, which is always an added bonus to any day, let's be honest.

Prague, you're truly a delight. Now, where did I put my new sparkly pink fascinator?

See you next week!

Yours always,

Emma 💕
