Prague in Pink: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! 🩰💕

Hello darlings, and welcome to this week’s installment of Pink Tutu Travels, coming to you live from the stunning city of Prague! This is post number 513, and let me tell you, this trip has been a true dream come true.

Prague, oh Prague, you’ve stolen my heart with your fairytale charm, your cobblestone streets, and your magnificent architecture. The only thing missing is… a sea of pink tutus, of course! But don’t worry, my mission to spread the tutu love is ongoing, even here in the heart of Europe.

As always, I’ve come to Prague with my trusty travelling companions: my pink tutu, my love of all things ballet, and my unyielding enthusiasm for exploring new places!

Now, let’s rewind the clock. It’s Wednesday, the 23rd of February, 2005. I arrived in Prague earlier this week, fresh from a glorious performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. (A standing ovation for the ballerina who played the sugar plum fairy, darling - a truly divine performance!) But as usual, after every show, I’m swept away with wanderlust. The stage lights fade, the curtain drops, and I feel the undeniable call of adventure, a longing for new stories, new cultures, and new inspiration.

A Whirlwind Journey:

I hopped on a train in London – a beautiful, old-fashioned one that made me feel like I was stepping straight into a period drama, and off I went! Now, you might think I would prefer a flight to travel to somewhere like Prague. But darling, you don’t understand the joys of train travel! Every journey is an adventure. It’s about observing the world whizzing by – the fields, the quaint little villages, the majestic scenery. It’s an opportunity to daydream and people watch! (I also can't resist sneaking into the buffet car to enjoy a delicious, proper cuppa. You know, the kind you get on proper English trains.)

Anyway, let’s get back to Prague. I arrived here yesterday morning, and I was blown away. I don’t want to give away all my secrets, so I'll keep it short. Just imagine quaint cafes with wicker chairs, pastel-colored houses that seem to tumble down the hill, cobbled streets winding through charming squares – I know! Pure perfection!

I'm staying in the most delightful little boutique hotel – the walls are adorned with beautiful floral wallpaper, and the whole place has the sweetest old-world charm. They have this amazing vintage gramophone playing classical music in the lobby - it's so romantic! I immediately threw on my pink tutu and twirled around in the hotel lobby just to soak in the moment! And don't worry - I made sure I got a fabulous Instagram selfie to remember this gorgeous place. #PragueIsMyNewMuse

The Pink Tutu in Prague:

Now, I can't forget why I'm here, apart from exploring, of course - the Prague Ballet season! This week I've got some exciting shows lined up - from classical masterpieces like Swan Lake to a stunning contemporary ballet called “Threads.” I just adore the creativity in contemporary ballet – the music, the costumes, and those incredible movements - it all just sends chills down my spine! (Yes, it’s not just pink tutus I'm obsessed with – the history of dance, the history of ballet and tutus, all the intricacies! I truly believe there’s beauty and inspiration in every era and every style.)

This is my first time in Prague and, my darlings, it's a total revelation! The culture, the architecture, the people... It's all so incredibly elegant, and that just perfectly embodies the spirit of my tutu!

Today, though, I’m all about shopping! I know, it might sound silly for a dancer to be focused on clothes shopping instead of practising her pirouettes, but trust me - it’s an essential part of the journey! I can't explore a new city without finding some unique pieces, especially here in Prague. They've got the most charming boutiques - filled with delicate lace, velvet ribbons, and elegant dresses. And the prices are just fantastic! I have already discovered a little treasure trove of vintage clothes - and the best part? It all works beautifully with my pink tutu!

I can't wait to share my latest shopping finds in my next post - we'll be taking a look at my new collection of tutus and some divine vintage pieces for you!

A Day In Pink

Yesterday, I strolled through Old Town Square, just soaking in the beautiful sights and sounds, before venturing into the Old Jewish Quarter, where the atmosphere is just captivating. It's full of ancient synagogues and fascinating history - it feels a little bit mystical and incredibly moving. And my pink tutu just blended in beautifully with all that vibrant history - like I was right out of a fairytale!

Then it was time for a well-deserved treat - a hot chocolate (served with real whipped cream! You wouldn't find a better hot chocolate anywhere, honestly!) followed by an incredible performance by the Prague Street Ballet - imagine: a whirlwind of ballerinas and acrobats in their pink tutus (okay, only one of them, actually, it was me!) – all against the stunning backdrop of Prague Castle! Truly magical!

Later that evening, I visited the magnificent Charles Bridge - such an iconic landmark, especially as it is covered in beautiful baroque statues - and watched the sunset paint the sky in hues of rose and apricot, and then had the most exquisite dinner at a hidden gem of a restaurant with traditional Czech cuisine. And then I walked the streets under the stars, marveling at the city lights reflecting in the Vltava River. Prague is the city of romance, you know - and when you wear a pink tutu, it’s just all so very fairytale-esque.

Onwards and Upwards:

Tomorrow, I’m planning to see the famous astronomical clock, a landmark I've been wanting to visit for ages. And the following day - it's going to be a long train ride – I'm travelling further east, to Budapest! A pink-tutu loving ballet-dancing blogger can never stay in one place for too long, my darlings!

The best part about exploring new cities and cultures - it sparks so much creativity. Each adventure is fuel for the fire that keeps my ballet passion alight! So join me next week for another installment of Pink Tutu Travels - straight from the cobbled streets of Budapest, with all the adventures and, naturally, the prettiest of pink tutus, all documented on the www.pink-tutu.com blog!

Until next week, darlings, stay bright and be sure to keep those twirling spirits high! 💕🩰
