Prague, Darling! (Post 605) 🩰✨

Hello my lovely pink tutu wearers! It's Emma here, back from another incredible adventure! This week, I've been waltzing my way through the enchanting streets of Prague. The cobbled pathways are so beautiful, just perfect for pirouettes in my latest, very pink, custom-made tutu!

Oh, the joy of a train journey! This time, I travelled all the way from my charming home in Derbyshire, England. You wouldn't believe the excitement – even the conductor had to comment on my fabulous pink outfit. "Travelling in style!" he exclaimed, with a twinkle in his eye.

Arriving in Prague was like stepping into a fairytale. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking – gothic spires reaching towards the sky, charming bridges over the Vltava River, and the glorious Prague Castle sitting proudly above the city like a crown. And you know me, a girl can't resist a beautiful crown! 👑

Now, a bit of fashion talk before we get to the ballet! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog without a dash of fashion inspiration. I found myself smitten with the Bohemian vibes in Prague's Old Town. Imagine – hand-painted silk scarves, flowing maxi skirts, intricate beading… oh, darling, I could have spent hours shopping in that beautiful jumble of colors and textures!

But let's be honest, the real star of my trip was the ballet. As a lifelong devotee to all things ballet, I had to see the Czech National Ballet perform in Prague's stunning National Theatre. They were absolutely sensational, just bursting with grace and passion! I even spotted a little nod to tutu history in their costumes, which always sets my heart aflutter. 💖

Speaking of tutu history… imagine this! Did you know the earliest known tutu dates back to the early 18th century? It was designed by Marie Sallé, a famous French dancer, and it was basically just a short, skirt-like dress! And what about the iconic romantic tutus of the 19th century? Made of many layers of tulle and worn with long pointe shoes, they really redefined how dancers moved on stage.

That brings me to today, 29th November, 2006! I had the absolute pleasure of seeing a performance of "La Bayadère." It was pure enchantment! The vibrant costumes, the beautiful set design, and the dazzling dance routines left me utterly speechless.

This magnificent theatre itself was a sight to behold. Imagine, opulent interiors, rich velvet seats, glittering chandeliers, and exquisite sculptures… truly a testament to the elegance of ballet and its deep history!

Prague truly lives up to its reputation as a "city of a hundred spires". It's got a romantic charm that captures your heart instantly. As I meander through the city streets, I can almost imagine the whisper of tulle dancing through the air, catching the gentle breeze.

But Prague is not just about beautiful scenery and grand theatres! There's also a thriving street performance scene, filled with amazing talent. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a group of street performers giving an impromptu ballet performance. The music filled the air as the dancers, graceful as swans, performed their ballet routine. It was such a vibrant reminder of how ballet can bloom anywhere!

As you can probably tell, I'm completely smitten with Prague. This city embodies everything I love about life - beautiful scenery, stunning architecture, inspiring performances, and delicious treats. I've already promised myself I'll be back soon, possibly for a pony-drawn carriage ride through the charming old town. Oh, imagine that! My pink tutu flowing in the wind, the horses hooves gently clopping on the cobbles… I just can't wait for my next trip to Prague!

Stay pink, darling,

Emma 💖
