Prague Post #613: Pink Tutu Dreams in the City of a Hundred Spires 🩰💖

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, back from the magical city of Prague! And oh my, what a dream it's been. My first visit to this enchanting city, and it was everything I'd hoped for and more! Think cobblestone streets, charming bridges, incredible architecture, and a feeling of time standing still...all topped with a dollop of romanticism, sprinkled with Czech charm and a dusting of that classic European chic. And me, of course, in my trusty pink tutu, feeling utterly fabulous amidst it all.

I'll confess, getting here was an adventure in itself. I couldn't resist a train journey – there's nothing like gazing out at the countryside from a plush carriage, enjoying a good book and maybe a little spot of tea. When the landscape began to change, and the quaint little villages became replaced by the sweeping beauty of Bohemia, I felt that familiar excitement rising. It was almost like a scene from one of my favourite ballets – the anticipation before the grand finale, knowing that something incredible was about to unfold.

And then Prague unfolded, right before my eyes. My heart skipped a beat the moment I stepped onto the Charles Bridge, its majestic stone statues staring down at the sparkling Vltava river, and I knew I'd be lost in its magic. My favourite moment though? Finding a delightful vintage shop nestled amongst the winding streets of the Old Town Square, packed with treasures and delights – antique ballet posters, elegant brooches, even a gorgeous lace tutu! It was a vintage tutu dream come true, and the lady in the shop gave me the most knowing wink when I held it up – a clear sign that we were kindred spirits in this love of all things delicate and graceful.

Speaking of graceful, the city just brims with it! Everywhere I turned, I was met with cobblestone lanes that seemed to twist and turn like graceful dancers, ornate fountains erupting in delicate arcs of water, and buildings whose spires soared towards the sky, their windows shimmering with stories untold.

Naturally, no visit to Prague would be complete without experiencing the city's rich cultural heritage, especially when it comes to dance. The National Theatre is a beautiful venue, a testament to architectural beauty and elegance. I got a bit emotional watching the "Swan Lake" there. There was such power in the storytelling and artistry – and of course, a splash of pink here and there! Seeing the ballerinas' graceful movements under the sparkling chandeliers, against the backdrop of the breathtaking theatre, truly transported me to another world. I can only describe the feeling as pure ballet bliss.

It wasn't all ballet shows and cultural delights though. As you all know, shopping is an essential part of my travels – particularly for the perfect accessories to compliment a good pink tutu! My suitcase was a delight to pack - a new embroidered velvet clutch for evenings out, some vintage costume jewelry, a new pink lace-trimmed blouse… the perfect ensemble for a little evening stroll on the Charles Bridge, perhaps sipping a warming glass of mulled wine (that's what my mama used to call 'hot cider' back home in Derbyshire!), watching the twinkling lights reflect in the river.

The energy here in Prague is infectious! Everywhere I went, there was a buzz in the air - locals chatting with a sense of joie de vivre, musicians serenading passersby with their violins, even the birds singing in the trees sounded like they were humming a cheerful tune! It was just what I needed to get inspired, to think up some fresh moves and maybe even sketch a few new designs for my own ballet pieces. It was time to embrace the carefree, fun loving spirit of the city.

After a couple of days of taking in the city's splendour and making some pretty special memories, it was time to put on my tutu for an evening performance at the renowned ‘Aventinum' stage. I took the opportunity to take on a role I had only ever dreamt of. I performed as the “Dancing Flower,” in a classic romantic ballet – an uplifting tale of love, beauty, and of course, the graceful magic of dancing. I know you’ve all seen my online dance tutorials, so you can probably imagine just how beautiful I looked in that pink tutu, sparkling in the stage lights. My little routine involved lots of pirouettes and arabesques, some graceful extensions, and even a tiny touch of improvisational twirling! It was a bit daunting at first, I won't lie, to be back in front of an audience. But there was such a lovely, encouraging energy from the audience that I couldn't help but lose myself in the performance.

The beauty of Prague, combined with the vibrant cultural energy, inspired my dance moves – oh, the beauty and artistry in the air just felt magical. In my final dance, I paused to take in the warmth and delight in the audience, holding onto a feeling of absolute pure joy and a strong urge to share it all with everyone - to invite them all to join me on the stage, to feel the excitement of dancing beneath the Prague sky, and, of course, to inspire them to slip into a pink tutu for a dance of their own! It is all part of my dream, of course, to get everyone dancing and wearing a pink tutu. Isn't it time we took it up a notch, my loves?

The train ride home was a delightful reflection on my magical adventure. The countryside flew past in a blur of greens and golds, as I savoured every moment. The train carried me back to reality, but not without a little bit of Prague magic tucked away in my heart and a renewed appreciation for life's simple pleasures - like a comfy carriage, a good book, a freshly brewed cuppa, and the gentle hum of the train engine that reminded me that every journey, however small or large, is an adventure worth embracing. It is certainly time to start planning my next trip – Paris? Rome? London, maybe? I can’t wait to see what other dance opportunities and amazing cultural gems I discover along the way!

Until next time my dears, remember to embrace life with the grace of a dancer and the sparkle of a pink tutu! And for goodness sake, take the time to dance!

With love and twirls, Emma
