Prague's Pretty Pink Promise: #624

Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu's travel blog! I'm writing to you from a truly beautiful city, Prague, which is absolutely bursting with charm and, let's be honest, just about everything pink. So, as a certain cheeky chappie might say, "This is going to be a good one!"

This week, I thought I'd take you all on a little trip down memory lane, right back to April 11th, 2007. Now, why that specific date, you ask? Well, darlings, that was the date of my very first Pink Tutu adventure in this glorious city! It's funny to look back now, knowing how much this city has become my second home in the ballet world. But that day, all I knew was that Prague held the promise of enchanting sights, historical treasures, and, of course, some truly phenomenal ballet.

And, as always, let me tell you: it certainly didn't disappoint!

I landed in Prague (with a dash of ballet-inspired fashion, naturally!) after a lovely train ride from Dresden. The train journey was a bit of a rollercoaster – I'd been on the platform getting ready to board, looking quite the spectacle in my lilac pink tutu and feather boa, when suddenly, a cheeky pony galloped right past me! It was like a scene out of a storybook, with me and my bright pink fluffiness against a backdrop of cobblestone and old architecture. A bit of a fright at first, but so perfectly whimsical and magical. The ponies in Prague are just... well, they’re quite something! A bit like the city itself!

Now, darling, let’s be honest, Prague is a fashion lover’s paradise! So before diving into the cultural treats of the city, my little tutu-wearing self, naturally, headed straight to the shops!

I spent the morning browsing the shops, picking up some truly delightful treasures. I found the most exquisite vintage floral-print dress, a bright pink hat adorned with ribbons and feathers, and a beautiful hand-painted pink tutu that is already making me think of a grand stage entrance (and I don't think it's going to be long before it gets its big debut, either! ). I might have also snagged a few pairs of ruby red shoes, a shimmering lavender boa, and a sparkling silver hair comb for good measure. Because, darling, let's face it, the perfect ensemble for a ballet fan needs to have a touch of everything, right?

Feeling utterly glamorous and ready for a proper dance experience, my first stop in the afternoon was, of course, a ballet class! I found a charming little studio nestled in the old town, complete with cobblestone floors and a magnificent vaulted ceiling. I absolutely loved the ambiance; the atmosphere was electric and a bit bohemian - just like my taste in clothing! I learned a beautiful new waltz variation in the studio - it involved plenty of graceful pirouettes and soaring arabesques. All while adorned in a delightfully pink, lace-trimmed tutu, of course! The instructor, a lovely woman named Hana, was a wonderful guide, and after class, I learned a fun little fact about Prague - they use an unusual type of wooden floor in their ballet studios! You wouldn't expect that from the outside looking in, but the wood is special, so you wouldn't see it unless you actually walked in.

Following the invigorating ballet lesson, I was utterly ready for the theatrical delights Prague had to offer.

The show I had come to see that night was called “La Bohème”. Now, darling, everyone knows the story – young artists, love, heartbreak, tragedy - but, for the first time, seeing the performance with a live orchestra in such a gorgeous venue – simply blew my mind! The entire theatre was an experience, really. With beautiful ornate décor, it truly made the whole night feel more like a special occasion.

I can't possibly express to you the absolute magic of this ballet. The way the dancers moved – their exquisite movements, their powerful leaps – every detail of the production felt simply phenomenal. My eyes were captivated for the entire evening, as the stage became alive with every nuance of the story. Every twist and turn brought goosebumps – I can still feel them right now, just thinking about it! The ballet told the classic story in a fresh and vibrant way, with beautiful costumes and stunning lighting effects. They were quite avant garde, really. A modern twist on a classic! Honestly, I don't think I'll ever forget that evening. It’s one of the most magical and truly heartwarming experiences I've ever had – and all the while I was feeling fabulous in my little pink tutu, of course!

On that night, my love for Prague blossomed in the most extraordinary way, and I knew right then that it would be a place I'd want to return to again and again. So, my dears, Prague truly stole my heart with its charm, its beauty, and its wonderful dance culture, and it’s this reason why I make a point to travel back at least once a year.

Speaking of which, this week, my journey back to this magical city has already started! I’m getting ready for a weekend of delightful shows, spectacular shops, and delectable culinary experiences. But of course, my suitcase wouldn’t be complete without my tutu bag (just to make sure all of my ballerina-inspired goodies arrive safe and sound!) I know you'll love my pictures and the details on this week’s shows – stay tuned, darling! I've got tons of exciting details coming up!

Until then, wear your most delightful pink and embrace all the fun and magic of life!

XOXO, Emma, the Pink Tutu Princess
