Post Number 661: Prague Dreams & Pink Tutu Delights

Wednesday, 26th December 2007

Greetings, darling tutu enthusiasts! I'm writing to you today from the magical city of Prague, where the cobblestones are just as charming as the locals, and the scent of roasted chestnuts fills the air with festive cheer. It's Boxing Day here, which is a little bit like our Christmas Day leftovers – just less turkey and more time for exploring!

As always, I’ve got my trusty pink tutu packed for the adventure. You see, this little tulle wonder is more than just an outfit – it’s my travel companion, my dance card, and my passport to a world of whimsy and grace. And let me tell you, Prague is a city that really embraces its whimsical side.

My journey here started in Derbyshire, where I bid farewell to the frosty English countryside and hopped on the train to the continent. The ride was as scenic as a fairytale, with rolling hills and quaint villages flashing by like a reel of film. I was utterly entranced!

You know I can’t resist a good train journey – the clickety-clack of the tracks, the gentle swaying, the opportunity for a spot of ballet reading... it all feels incredibly glamorous, especially when I'm wearing my pink tutu!

My travelling was just the first leg of my journey. After the train journey, we switched modes of transport for a more "whimsical" journey. We chose to ride a pony, and the little horse carried us to our hotel, the most stunning pink palace imaginable! Imagine my delight, the whole building seemed like an homage to my favourite colour.

And when I wasn't exploring the city's many architectural wonders - from the majestic Prague Castle to the iconic Charles Bridge - I was indulging my passion for all things ballet. I couldn't resist visiting the breathtaking National Theatre, a magnificent venue that has hosted some of the greatest dancers in the world. It felt like stepping into a ballet dream.

And the National Theatre, oh darling! I was positively giddy at the sheer spectacle of the grand stage and the sweeping balconies, every detail seemingly designed for dramatic effect! They say history seeps out of the stone walls in that theatre - can you imagine all the breathtaking performances held there through the years!

Just yesterday, I was fortunate enough to catch a performance of The Nutcracker at the Municipal House, a truly magical experience. The music was exquisite, the costumes were lavish and glittering, and the dancing was pure, effortless poetry.

I'm so passionate about ballet. I love watching professionals take the stage and fill me with wonder, I love learning about ballet's history – the stories of grace and discipline, of pirouettes and pas de bourrées, and, most importantly, I love sharing the magic with everyone. Ballet’s history and my love for pink tutus go hand in hand, hand in tutu perhaps, let’s get those tutus dancing!

Even more than ballet itself, I adore shopping for tutus and costumes. I've already visited the Pražská Krejčovská district – imagine my delight! Rows and rows of stunning shops selling every type of ballet dress and garment - from silken slippers to delicate tulle skirts - all just begging to be tried on! I indulged in a few pink ones of course!

I love seeing what others are wearing! This week's street fashion in Prague seems to be dominated by practical winter coats, fur hats, and stylish scarves. Oh! And everyone is so graceful here – walking with poise and style, it’s practically like watching a street ballet! It was like watching a balletic winter wonderland unfold!

I also made a special visit to the Národní Muzeum, to marvel at their exquisite collection of 19th-century tutus. They’ve had an exhibition about ballet's impact on society throughout history. A dream, truly! The designs, the colours - all so intricately elegant. It reminded me, darling, just how powerful a tutu can be!

And the colour pink is simply my absolute muse for tutus, it makes you feel so confident, daring, and utterly beautiful. And that’s what I’m about – encouraging you all to express your inner ballerina!

Don't forget to visit my website at www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday to join me on my travels and enjoy all the latest fashion trends, ballet news, and inspiring stories. I’ll also share some of my Prague street fashion observations – you never know what you might see when I'm on the prowl for inspiration!

Until next week, darlings, keep twirling and be bold enough to express your inner ballerina, even in the unlikeliest of places – the world's a stage after all!

P.S. I'm also on Instagram (@pink_tutu)! Give me a follow for some pretty, behind-the-scenes pictures!

Much love,
