Pink Tutu Prague: Post #683 ā€“ Whirlwind in the City of a Hundred Spires!

Hello darling tutu lovers, itā€™s your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma, back from a whirl of a weekend in Prague, a city thatā€™s quite literally taken my breath away! I've been on the road for what feels like forever (actually, just a long weekend!), touring and dancing my heart out. I even picked up some inspiration for my new ā€œTutu Tourā€ project ā€“ donā€™t worry, itā€™s not as scary as it sounds, Iā€™ll tell you all about it soon.

But first, letā€™s talk Prague. As many of you know, Iā€™m a firm believer that a girlā€™s life should be a constant ballet ā€“ an ever-flowing dance through life, with graceful movements and captivating steps, especially when it comes to fashion! So imagine my delight when I stepped onto the platform in Pragueā€™s beautiful train station, my pink tulle tutu billowing behind me as I felt like a character out of a storybook. (My trip started with the romantic journey of a train to be specific!)

I was wearing, of course, the new blush pink tutu that was specially commissioned for my performances in Prague - oh yes, the little detail was crafted from layers upon layers of luxurious tulle with sparkling pink sequin embellishments, the bodice hand-beaded in shimmering pearlescent sequins. Absolutely stunning! To compliment, I paired it with my trusty black silk leotard with pink ribbon accents, my perfect travel combo as it looks both beautiful and chic whilst also giving the comfort required for all the dancing I did on this trip!

Oh, the dancing! That was such a dream come true in this magical city, so full of old world charm! Youā€™d think a city of hundred spires (that's actually what Prague is known as) would feel a bitā€¦ grand. And it is! It's beautiful in a way that leaves you feeling both enchanted and invigorated! Prague has an air of fairytale beauty about it, making it the perfect stage for any ballerina! I managed to squeeze in performances at several stunning historic venues, including a theatre with original 19th century dĆ©cor that transported me straight to the Golden Age of ballet. Talk about being inspired!

My favourite moment? Probably performing my signature "Whimsical Waltz" (my very own creation) on the Charles Bridge. I'll never forget those breathtaking views of the Vltava river and the ancient buildings. It felt like my dance was actually a dialogue with the city itself. People stopped to watch and applaud; it felt like a perfect collaboration between art and location.

Speaking of location, location, location, I had to find the perfect Prague Boutique for tutus. This quest brought me to an elegant, Parisian-style boutique tucked away on a quaint cobblestone street. The shop window was full of the most exquisite, elaborate tutus, some with layers of feather trim, others with intricately woven silk appliquƩs. My dear friends, you've never seen such a splendor of pink! The moment I stepped into this whimsical world of ballet couture, it felt like I had wandered onto the stage of a ballet by Tchaikovsky himself. I found the most charming tulle overskirt, a sheer cloud of the most beautiful blush pink with delicate floral embroidery. I could barely contain my excitement! You can bet your tutu I was whisking myself right back to my hotel for a full outfit change to see how the beautiful pink overskirt looked with my dancing outfit - perfectly complementary, darling! That little beauty is coming with me back to Derbyshire - its the perfect complement for my new dance act!

After all that, you canā€™t forget a good cup of tea. Thatā€™s when I found the best tea shop in Prague, hidden away in a courtyard adorned with fairy lights. Just what I needed after a hectic day of dancing, shopping and sightseeing, They made this fantastic Earl Grey with pink tea roses that made me think of fairies, lol. (Well, how could I not think of fairies?!)

But of course, there was much more than tutus and tea. I also had the pleasure of watching an incredible street performer. Dressed in an impeccably tailored, but modern pink tuxedo and a top hat, he performed this amazing contemporary ballet on the Old Town Square amidst a crowd of cheering onlookers! It was fascinating, the way his movements reflected the historical backdrop of Prague - He blended modern flair with tradition - you really could sense the influence of ballet history in his work. After the performance, we struck up a conversation, sharing tips about travelling and life as a professional dancer. He confided that he too is on a journey to inspire people through the art of dance. And that, darling, is something we can all agree with.

You see, every trip to a new city gives me more fuel for my Tutu Tour project! My ultimate goal, as always, is to get the whole world dancing in pink tutus - to bring the joy, the beauty and the expression of the ballet to every corner of the globe. And that starts with the smallest detail. The next stage for me, however, is going to be travelling by pony! (Yes, you read that right, a pony!) Stay tuned for my next post - and perhaps I'll be sharing my favourite pony-friendly shops in the countryside!

Oh, did I mention my blog pink-tutu.com is updated every Wednesday? That's my treat for all you darling ballet lovers! So keep those tutu dreams alive, darlings!

Until next time,

Emma,

Pink Tutu
