Prague, Prague, Pretty Prague! 💕🩰💖 #Post738
Wednesday 17th June 2009
Good morning lovelies! It's a glorious Wednesday and I'm back with another Prague blog post, ready to whisk you away to a world of enchanting performances, stunning sights, and of course, pink tutus! 💖
Train Adventures
My week started with a glorious train journey from Vienna to Prague! The carriages were comfy and I settled in for a day of admiring the countryside zipping by, listening to some of my favourite classical tunes, and of course, finishing the book on tutu history that I’ve been devouring! Did you know the first recorded use of the word 'tutu' was in 1839, in a review of Marie Taglioni’s performance in La Sylphide? Just goes to show, history and fashion go hand-in-hand, darlings!
First Impressions of Prague
And then, Prague! I love arriving in a new city, and Prague’s definitely charmed me. It’s absolutely picture-postcard pretty, all cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and of course, more fairytale castles than you could shake a stick at! My apartment is nestled in the heart of the old town, complete with a view of the iconic Charles Bridge, and a charming balcony where I can enjoy my morning coffee, soaking in the atmosphere of this incredible city.
A Touch of Pink
Let’s talk tutus! I was a little concerned that finding my perfect pink tutu for a special evening performance was going to be a struggle, but thankfully Prague’s shopping scene is just as magical as the rest of the city! I spent a few glorious hours scouring vintage boutiques, my senses in overdrive, until I found a truly enchanting number. Imagine a soft rose pink tulle, cascading to the floor, complete with delicate satin ribbon detailing, and a sparkly little matching shrug to throw on when the evening chill hits. You could say I’m practically in love with this piece – she’ll be gracing the stage of the National Theatre later this week!
Ballet Dreams at the National Theatre
And speaking of ballet dreams, today was all about soaking up Prague’s vibrant ballet scene. I’m a firm believer in getting your fill of inspiration before a performance, so this morning, I wandered down to the National Theatre – what a beautiful building, darlings! After snapping a few photos (my Instagram is definitely going to be bursting with Prague prettiness this week), I visited the lovely ballet bookshop around the corner and purchased a gorgeous coffee table tome about the history of ballet in Prague. I am such a sucker for anything to do with ballet history - it truly inspires me and fuels my love for the art form!
A Delicious Evening at Theatre Dinner
Tonight, I'm heading out for a pre-show supper, a little something special for my very first Prague show – I’ve booked a table at the absolutely divine Theatre Dinner, nestled just a stone’s throw from the National Theatre! Their food and atmosphere are just the thing to set the mood for a wonderful performance, and I know they’re famous for their delicious, pink-hued cocktails, perfect for celebrating my time in this fairytale city.
Tutu Expectations
So, what’s on the program this evening? It's the wonderful and classic “Swan Lake,” a true masterpiece. It’s one of my favourite ballets, and I just know I'll be totally enthralled by this performance, with Prague’s magnificent National Theatre as the backdrop. Of course, I’ve meticulously planned my outfit, combining my pink tutu with a sparkling black camisole and chic heels. My pink clutch is packed, along with my sparkly tiara and a whole lot of excitement – because what better way to enjoy a ballet performance than in your favourite pink tutu?
Stay Tuned...
Well, darlings, that's all for today! I've got a busy week ahead, exploring Prague’s streets and soaking in its magic. But I'll be back on Wednesday, sharing my adventures from the city, including all the latest fashion finds, tutu inspiration, and perhaps even some tips on travelling in a tutu, because as all my lovely pink tutu-wearing followers know, a true fashionista can wear their tutus anywhere, anytime!
Till next Wednesday!
