Pink Tutu Prague: A Fairy Tale Adventure in the City of a Hundred Spires (Post #816)

Hello, darling tutus! It's your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma, and I'm back with another dazzling diary entry straight from the heart of Prague. I can already feel the cobblestone streets under my ballet slippers and the scent of hot roasted chestnuts and gingerbread swirling around me, just like a fairy tale come to life.

This week, Prague's magic has reached its peak! My travelling wardrobe is positively bursting with frills and feathers, and my dance card is packed with exciting shows and explorations. Oh, how I adore this city! Its history, its beauty, its architecture... they all seem to dance around me like a graceful pas de deux.

A Train Ride Through a Winter Wonderland

Remember that wonderful vintage carriage ride I mentioned last week? Well, it's definitely not the most efficient form of transport for travelling around Prague, but who could resist the romantic allure? Today, however, practicality reigned supreme. I set off from Derbyshire on the magical overnight train to Prague, a journey that is almost as enjoyable as the destination itself. Just imagine: the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels, a blanket of snow silently falling outside the window, and the sound of hushed conversations blending with the soft strains of Mozart playing over the speakers.

My cabin, complete with velvet curtains and a flickering oil lamp, was a little slice of Victorian romance, perfectly reflecting the city's historical charm. In fact, the whole journey was like stepping back in time, a moment of pure bliss that set the stage for this week's fairytale adventures.

A Stroll Down Parisian Style Street (But In Prague)

You see, darlings, Prague is a city of secrets, hidden corners, and enchanting surprises, but also it's a place where I just love to let my tutu flow in the breeze. And this city is a sartorial playground! Even the shops that sell souvenirs feel like a curated ballet performance. It's no wonder that the beautiful Czech Republic has such a stunning and stylish population. It’s truly infectious, this European fashion, with all its layers of texture and charm.

I even found a wonderful pink tulle boutique just around the corner from the old town square! My latest tutu find is a fluffy creation with rosebuds adorning the bodice, all in the most beautiful shades of blush and pale pink. It even came with matching fluffy leg warmers! (Oh, darling tutus, don't worry, I shall definitely share a photo later. You simply must see it!)

The Heart of the Ballet Beat: National Theatre, Prague

But let’s get down to business. What is a tutu-wearing blogger in Prague without experiencing the National Theatre, right? This masterpiece of architecture, bathed in twinkling Christmas lights, housed a truly breathtaking performance of The Nutcracker this evening. You must know, this classic story never gets old; each viewing is a magical experience for me. The sets, costumes, the incredible ballet - every detail brought this enchanting Christmas fable to life.

My heart absolutely skipped a beat at the breathtaking choreography in the Snowflakes Waltz scene, a true visual ballet spectacle, complete with white shimmering costumes and soft billowing snowflakes, which seemed to fly through the air in perfect unison. The artistry of these Czech ballet dancers took my breath away; their movements were so precise, so passionate. There is simply nothing like live ballet, is there?

Finding Romance on the Riverbank

Oh, Prague at night is a symphony of charm, with its shimmering bridges reflecting in the water and the cobblestones twinkling with the warm glow of gaslights. And let's not forget about those beautiful old cafes and the delicate scent of Christmas cake wafting from every doorway. My feet, in my sparkling ballerina flats, twirled me down towards the Vltava River, where the moonlight played tricks on my imagination, painting the scene in hues of ethereal magic.

With every corner I turned, every window I passed, every sound that floated on the frosty night air, I felt myself falling deeper into this city's captivating embrace. This fairytale city has stolen my heart; a moment captured perfectly, as I perched upon the banks of the river Vltava, under a night sky bursting with twinkling stars, just dreaming of future tutus and Prague adventures.

Coming up this week

Speaking of future tutus and adventures... next week, darlings, I'm venturing out of the city to explore the charming medieval castles just outside of Prague! (Yes, I have plans to find a suitable spot for my ballet exercises in front of those ancient walls! My travelling tutus can’t possibly miss the chance to stand amidst such magnificent structures. ). And of course, I'm going to be posting all about my exciting discoveries, with tons of gorgeous photos of my favourite things about this captivating city. So don't forget to pop back next Wednesday for more of Pink Tutu Prague. I promise it's going to be fabulously, wonderfully, breathtakingly pink!

Love,

Emma
