Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Bonanza in the City of a Hundred Spires! (Post #948)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from the enchanting city of Prague, and let me tell you, this place has stolen my heart! It's a true fairytale setting, bursting with colourful charm and history - the perfect backdrop for my beloved pink tutu. I know, I know, some of you think a tutu is a little 'out there' for everyday life, but I firmly believe a touch of magic should be worn wherever we go, and Prague definitely embodies that spirit.

This week, my travel adventures took me on a thrilling train journey across the continent, my trusty pink suitcase in tow (naturally it has a tulle lining!). I must say, there's something quite glamorous about train travel – the anticipation of arriving in a new city, the delicious aromas wafting from the carriage buffet, and the chance to chat with fellow travellers. And don't get me started on the views! The countryside whizzing past, dotted with quaint villages and sprawling fields, was enough to inspire a whole new ballet choreography!

Arriving in Prague was like stepping into a beautifully painted storybook. The cobbled streets, lined with colourful buildings and charming shops, felt straight out of a fairytale. And of course, the iconic Charles Bridge, spanning the Vltava River, was breathtaking! I spent hours strolling along, marveling at the ornate statues and soaking in the city's captivating atmosphere.

But my Prague adventure wasn't all sightseeing – the highlight, by far, was the ballet performance I witnessed! Held in the breathtaking National Theatre, this enchanting ballet production transported me to another world. The dancers were incredibly talented, moving with grace and precision, and the story unfolded with breathtaking beauty. Seeing them dance, swishing through their graceful movements, made me wish I had my own pink tutu on stage with them! (Maybe one day…!)

The National Theatre itself was a sight to behold. Its intricate design, with its opulent facade and stunning interior, made me feel like I'd stumbled upon a royal palace. Even before the curtain went up, the excitement in the air was palpable, the anticipation of what was to come... and I must confess, seeing the performance was truly magical!

I couldn't resist snagging some souvenirs to commemorate my Prague adventure. I've always adored vintage pieces, so you can imagine how delighted I was to stumble across a hidden treasure – a vintage ballerina costume! Now, I'll be adding a little Prague magic to my ballet collection back home in Derbyshire.

As the sun dipped behind the city, casting a warm glow over the ancient buildings, I wandered through the charming Old Town Square, taking in the beauty of the astronomical clock and the surrounding medieval architecture.

This was Prague’s vibrant Old Town Square, complete with musicians playing lively folk tunes and colourful street performers delighting the crowds. The scene was captivating - truly magical! And of course, there were a plethora of beautiful shops bursting with handmade treasures, vintage gems, and delicious, locally made delicacies!

The next morning, I took a leisurely stroll to the picturesque Prague Castle. Wandering through the enchanting grounds, with its sprawling gardens and magnificent palace, I was struck by the beauty of this historical site. The architecture, blending Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles, left me speechless! Every turn unveiled another stunning sight, each with a captivating story of its own.

But as much as I enjoyed my sightseeing adventures, nothing could compete with the delicious cuisine I sampled in Prague. From creamy goulash to succulent roasted duck, I devoured my way through a symphony of flavours, making sure to enjoy some sweet, local pastries too.

I also made sure to stop by the delightful ballet school near the centre of the city. The smell of leather and rosin instantly filled my nose. It was a place buzzing with passionate and energetic ballerinas of all ages. Watching them practice, I felt the passion for dance simmer in my own soul – a feeling so familiar and uplifting!

To top off my Prague experience, I couldn't resist the allure of a pony ride through the enchanting Petrin Hill Park. And yes, I did make my pink tutu work even for this adventure! There’s just something so whimsical about pony rides, a true throwback to my childhood dreams. It was the perfect way to end my magical journey through the City of a Hundred Spires.

Prague has been an absolute dream! A city filled with captivating sights, historical treasures, enchanting ballet performances, and a magic I've never felt before. It has reaffirmed my love for the vibrant world of ballet and my unwavering commitment to sharing its joy with others.

But my pink tutu travels don't end here! There are many more destinations on my wish list. Until next week, stay twirling and embrace the magic of life! And remember, everyone looks fantastic in pink, even on a pony!

Until next Wednesday,

Emma xx
