Pink Tutu Prague: Blog Post #1001
Wednesday 2nd July, 2014
Dearest readers! I'm writing to you today from the most enchanting city! Prague, darling Prague, has stolen my heart. The cobbled streets, the towering castles, the glistening river, the delicious smell of goulash in every alley... it's just heavenly.
You know how I feel about a good city break, but let's face it, travelling to new places and discovering all their treasures can be slightly stressful, wouldn't you agree? I mean, imagine all that packing! I had to think carefully about what pink tutus to bring (only two!) and all the ballet books! Plus, I simply had to bring my new "Pink and Proud" travel tea set. My trusty steamer trunk was brimming with beautiful clothes, but just like every traveller, I did manage to forget one vital item – my fluffy pink travel pillow.
However, I knew there was no need to panic! I knew exactly where to head once I landed in Prague. Let me tell you, darling, you simply can't travel to this gorgeous city without stopping by the iconic "Pink Tutu Emporium"! Now, it's not just a shop - it's a treasure trove, a veritable feast for the eyes. My dearest, every item is in my favourite colour and there are so many tutus! We're talking princessy tulle, vibrant hot pink, soft pastel shades... you name it, they have it. Oh, and the prices are just delightful!
Naturally, I indulged in some shopping (a tiny bit) - can you imagine me not getting myself a brand-new tutu? Never! This time, it's a vintage design – perfect for strolling the Charles Bridge, don't you think? (And let's not forget my matching pink sun hat! Simply darling!)
Of course, the highlight of my day had to be the Pink Tutu Ballet performance. You've probably seen my photos and posts about the show – a whirlwind of vibrant dance and glittering tutus! (Honestly, the costume designer outdid herself this time, with such delicate detail, and all in different shades of pink! Chef's kiss)
But this isn't just any ballet, darling. We're talking about a beautiful reinterpretation of the classic "Swan Lake." I've been to so many "Swan Lake" performances, but this one just took my breath away! The story was poignant, the dancers graceful and talented, and it really brought home the passion and artistry that go into creating these incredible shows. I just loved how the ballerina performing the lead role kept the pink theme throughout her costume and pointe shoes. Divine! And the choreography - oh my goodness, so creative and fun! (Seriously, there was even a pink pony during the "dance of the little swans"!)
The show's creators really seem to understand what I'm trying to achieve – the Pink Tutu Movement. (Remember, my mission in life is to get everyone in a pink tutu!) The creators cleverly designed a whimsical twist, and all the young girls and boys were enthralled with the vibrant colour and costumes, swaying along to the beautiful music. Oh, it just warms my heart to see young children embracing ballet and celebrating pink with so much joy.
Speaking of joy, how could I forget my favourite moment of the show? At the very end, just after the curtain call, the entire cast walked across the stage with a gigantic pink tutu flowing behind them! I must say, I did get quite emotional, truly – all the hard work and passion were really visible, making me believe even more in the power of dance.
After the performance, I was bursting to share all my excitement with fellow ballet enthusiasts and pink lovers! I caught a delicious horse-drawn carriage (pink, of course!) to Prague's iconic "Pink Flamingo Café." You must go there, my darling. The menu is absolutely divine, all their treats are pink and the décor is… well… pure pink perfection! And of course, there’s a pink tutu on the back of every chair!
Tomorrow, I’m excited to explore Prague’s oldest synagogue – did you know there’s a Tutu Museum on site? My travel itinerary just wouldn't be complete without a visit to see these fascinating garments and a peek at their amazing history. After all, you never know when a little bit of pink inspiration might hit!
Don't forget, darling, I'm posting all my Prague adventures here on PinkTutu.com every Wednesday. Do send me a message or comment below – I just love hearing your thoughts.
Now, off I go to prepare for another pink-tastic day in this magical city!
Until next time, Emma x
P.S. I have been told the next few weeks here are perfect for travelling to Prague. If you decide to come, take my advice: Don't forget to pack your favourite pink tutu and maybe a small piece of your heart, it's guaranteed to be stolen by this incredible city!
