Prague in Pink: A Ballet-Filled Adventure - Blog Post #1086
Wednesday, March 30th, 2016
Darling readers!
It's me, Emma, and I'm in Prague! That's right, the city of a hundred spires, enchanting bridges, and… oh yes, stunning ballet! The Czech Republic has been on my wish list for ages, and I’m delighted to share the experience with you, starting right now!
This trip, much like many of my journeys, is fuelled by the passion for ballet and, of course, my love for pink tutus! Yes, this trip was generously financed by several magical performances at the prestigious Derbyshire Dance Academy – those audiences love a good twirl, you know!
And oh, my darling friends, Prague is truly the most magical setting! Imagine cobbled streets and breathtaking architecture all in the hues of a sunrise. It’s as if the city itself is painted with hues of pastel pink and creamy beige! Prague’s architecture feels like a fairy tale; castles rising high, Gothic spires piercing the clouds. I’m finding myself walking around in a whimsical haze of pure joy – it's almost impossible to be anything but happy here!
But don’t worry, dear friends, my arrival wasn’t quite as storybook-esque as a ballet! First, I opted for the most wonderful mode of transport - the Eurostar - all the way to Germany, where I found myself embarking on a leisurely train ride into Prague. As the landscapes drifted by - fields of emerald green and farmlands dotted with adorable pink farmhouses – I felt like I was truly living out a classic fairy tale.
However, when it comes to experiencing the true essence of this magical city, I’m absolutely determined to experience the grand entrance! After all, my dear friends, a truly stylish arrival is crucial, especially when you're rocking a pink tutu, right? Now, what could be more whimsical than a white pony carriage ride through the Old Town Square?
My charming pink tutu and a touch of dramatic mascara had a bit of a fight, as they often do! But as soon as my elegant coachman announced, “Behold! The city of Prague!" and the pony stepped out, my pink tutu was as delighted as I was. Imagine the look of astonishment on the faces of the tourists as we galloped past. I assure you, a giggle bubbled out of me. I mean, how could you not? We were practically floating on a cloud of magical delight.
It was quite a bit of a thrill - I can't recommend it enough - the only downside, my dear, was the occasional giggle fit brought on by the charming trot. Of course, I had to ensure my tutu didn't become tangled! That's one of the biggest dangers of this form of transport!
And What's a Ballet-Lovin' Blog Post without some Theatre, Right?
Prague's ballet scene, my dear, is practically bursting with life. After arriving and taking in the charm of my room at a whimsical boutique hotel, (Oh, it was truly like a fairytale – think velvet drapes, antique mirrors and floral patterns! It's impossible not to adore it!) – I was practically prancing over to the National Theatre.
But the cherry on top was seeing "Sleeping Beauty" at the National Theatre! Now, this was a production that truly embraced the enchanting spirit of the fairytale! With stunning choreography, captivating costuming and an ensemble cast that truly captivated the audience (I swear, I was on the edge of my seat!). There were ballerinas soaring across the stage, magical lighting that transformed the world of the stage in a matter of seconds, and costumes so breathtakingly beautiful, they looked like they were ripped straight from my dreams! I absolutely devoured every minute of the performance. You know what my darling? This is one of those experiences that leaves your heart dancing long after the final curtain!
This magnificent production only solidified why I love ballet so much, darling friends. It truly is the ultimate art form - it captures such raw emotion, breathtaking beauty, and enchanting storytelling! It's like stepping into a living, breathing fairy tale, where emotions dance across the stage, where every pirouette is a moment of graceful beauty.
Speaking of beauty, I also managed to squeeze in some shopping during my trip. And what's more fitting for a ballerina in Prague than some divine couture, eh? Oh, the fashion! The Czech Republic certainly has its own distinct style! Imagine chic elegance meets traditional craftsmanship - you see, it was absolutely bursting with colour and detail - with just enough edge and sophistication for a sprinkle of ballerina attitude. My wardrobe will thank me for it later!
And how does one accessorise in the magical city of Prague? Why, with a beautifully woven tapestry bag to match my outfit, a few delicate strands of Czech crystal beads, and, of course, my faithful pink tutu! Let’s be honest, it's pretty much impossible to resist the charm of this vibrant city – it's literally oozing colour! You’ll find delicate pastel florals blossoming everywhere. And that pink tutu just makes my heart flutter – and the fact that Prague is so much in tune with my own aesthetic - well, it’s basically heaven!
And with that, my darling readers, I shall bid you adieu for this week. Stay tuned for the next chapter of my Prague adventure, because it's truly bursting with more whimsical ballet-inspired discoveries, delightful shopping, and plenty of pink tutu fun!
