Prague: Where Ballet Dreams Meet Bohemian Charm - Post #1112
Wednesday 28th September, 2016
Darling readers, Iām back! Well, not back, precisely, as Iāve never been to this charming city before, but Iāve returned to my trusty blog after an absolutely fabulous journey through Europe. This week, it's Prague, and trust me, you need to put it on your 'Must See' list immediately.
Pragueās beauty stole my breath away as I arrived by train, all that historical grandeurā¦ I can't believe how easily the buildings and monuments just blend in with this amazing, bohemian energy! This city pulsates with such captivating energy, and, I must admit, the pastel pink accents and gorgeous architecture did nothing to quell my infatuation with everything pink! Itās truly a symphony of sights and sounds, from the gentle thrum of the trams to the lively chatter of street vendors, and youāre constantly met with surprises around every cobbled corner.
My mission? To immerse myself in the city's cultural pulse, discover new ballet styles and explore Pragueās fabulous vintage boutiques ā oh, how I love to hunt down perfect, perfectly pink pieces! And who wouldnāt adore the vibrant and artistic energy, buzzing in every corner of this enchanting metropolis?
Of course, no trip is complete without a little Pink Tutu performance magic. I simply adore performing on different stages around the world and bringing the joy of dance to new audiences. My travels have taught me that the language of ballet is truly universal; it speaks to the heart in every city. This weekend, I was lucky enough to grace a stage right here in Prague, under the twinkling chandeliers of the magnificent Estates Theatre. Itās a gem of a building, full of charm, and, you guessed it, hints of pink ā absolutely divine!
And speaking of gems, my dear readers, we need to talk about Pragueās hidden treasures. Now, I am a creature of comfort when it comes to travel ā all aboard for a romantic, leisurely train journey with a perfectly curated playlist, some delicate pastries from my favourite cafe in Derbyshire, and the chance to people-watch (always in a respectable manner, of course!) and, my dears, Prague is the perfect city for train travel. It's almost as if they built it with me in mind, offering me a front-row seat for a real-life fairytale.
Itās so inspiring! And even though I absolutely adored seeing all the historic churches and breathtaking buildings, I couldnāt help but find myself drawn to Pragueās bohemian spirit. The energy is intoxicating! This city seems to celebrate a unique style, and I confess, Iāve already acquired a little Pink Tutu swag in some of its beautiful vintage shops - think flowy skirts, handmade lace and floral headbands - I just love that unique, bohemian aesthetic!
But now, let's dive into the highlight of my Prague visit ā the breathtaking performance I attended at the National Theatre, home to the iconic Czech National Ballet. Itās an enchanting old theatre, grand and graceful, and it felt truly special to watch dancers weave magic under its breathtaking chandeliers, which shimmered with the most delicate shade ofā¦ well, you guessed it - PINK!
The programme included āGiselleā, a ballet so beautiful and haunting. Itās a testament to the elegance of the Romantic era in ballet, and it truly stirred my emotions, evoking a mixture of passion and sorrow, which I could practically feel throughout the performance. Every detail felt perfectly choreographed ā itās a ballet Iāll never forget. And who knows? I might even revisit it when I get back home and practice some of its most poignant choreography! I adore delving deeper into balletās historical context and getting lost in the beauty of its evolution, you see?
The dance was nothing short of spectacular ā such breathtaking beauty, it almost made me cry! Itās so rewarding to see dance bring together so many emotions, all through the captivating performance of gifted dancers. These dancers were so skilled and expressive. They had a fire in their eyes that lit up the entire stage and had the entire audience completely mesmerised. Each step was a delicate whisper of grace, with captivating movements and emotions woven together beautifully.
Now, youāre probably thinking, what was Emmaās Pink Tutu ensemble for this occasion? Well, my dear readers, you won't be surprised that a tutu, naturally, made an appearance!
I opted for a vintage blush-toned tutu, which I paired with a soft white silk blouse that echoed the delicate lines of the tutu, adding a touch of classic elegance to my ensemble. To create the ultimate ballerina look, I finished off the look with an oversized, vintage straw hat and a pair of pearl-white ballet pumps (always with an extra sparkly touch, darling, you know how much I love a little bit of shine).
Of course, a pink-themed outing would never be complete without a truly fitting soundtrack. So, as I wandered around Prague, soaking up its enchantment, I had the delightful āPink Panther Themeā on repeat, providing a playful musical backdrop to my exploration. Oh, and darling, my #PinkTutu hashtag has gone global, darling, you just wouldnāt believe how many people Iāve met along my journey who have shared my love of all things pink, it's wonderful!
So, now I've had a whirlwind of excitement and discovery in Prague!
It truly is an exquisite city; I can't wait to return and explore more of its magical charm!
But for now, Iāll say "Na shledanou" (goodbye in Czech, darling) until next Wednesday's blog!
With much love,
Emma
