Prague Calling! #PinkTutuPrague - Post 1160

Wednesday 30th August 2017

Bonjour mes chères Tutuettes!

As I sit in the bustling train carriage, heading from beautiful, historical Prague, toward Vienna, my head's still full of the gorgeous sights and sounds of the city! This week's been an absolute whirl of tutus and tiaras – let me tell you, this Czech Republic city is positively oozing with charm, beauty, and just a smidge of Parisian flair (in the best way possible!).

As you know, I'm all about embracing the fabulous, so I've been sporting my newest, oh-so-sparkly pink tutu with a hint of velvet trim everywhere I go! And you'd be surprised at how many compliments I got from fellow tutu lovers (even one gentleman said my tutu was "the most beautiful thing he'd seen all week" – now, if that doesn't make your tutu-loving heart sing, I don't know what will!)

So, where do I even begin? From the moment I stepped off the train, I was completely smitten with the enchanting Old Town Square – its clock tower is breathtaking! Imagine, it tells stories with its little mechanical puppets every hour! They were almost as adorable as the little wooden marionettes I saw later in the shop windows. I even found a beautiful porcelain ballerina figurine, I couldn't resist taking it home as a souvenir, for the tutu display in my little apartment.

The Fashion Finds

But, before I bore you with all my Prague wanderings, let's get to the juicy bit - the SHOPPING! My dear, this city is a veritable treasure trove of tutus and trinkets. I found the most gorgeous tulle skirts at a little boutique in a cobblestone alley – imagine a classic white, tulle tutu with tiny pink sparkles scattered throughout – dreamy! You'd think they were made for me. Not to mention the exquisite beaded hair combs and the vintage ballet books, a perfect treasure hunt to compliment any tutu ensemble. I think this little shop was heaven on Earth for tutu enthusiasts.

But it was the fashion show at The Prague National Theatre that stole my breath! The gowns, darling, were just fabulous. The fabrics were luxurious, flowing in a myriad of gorgeous colours that just oozed grace and elegance. I saw my new wardrobe goals reflected in each stunning piece. And of course, it all added a touch of that Parisian chic, as I mentioned earlier, and let’s face it, Parisians just know how to be fabulous when it comes to fashion!

* Ballet & The Beautiful*

It was hard to choose between visiting the opulent Estates Theatre or The National Theatre for my ballet performance fix, so I managed to catch shows at both. The performances were spectacular – truly mesmerising, and I think you can already see what my favorite type of performance is… (Don’t judge! You know what they say - there’s a ballerina in every woman, or maybe that's just my opinion, but it’s definitely true, no?) I love to watch graceful dancers and experience their beautiful artistry. It really puts my heart and mind in the most perfect kind of happy place.

I am in complete awe of the way the dancers expressed themselves so vividly, especially those in the performance of The Nutcracker - the story came alive before my very eyes! It truly captured the essence of magic, a fairytale woven into an intricate tapestry of emotions through their movements and music. It was an extraordinary ballet experience! It reminds me, perhaps I should take ballet lessons at the gorgeous theatre in the city of Bath, I wonder if there is even a ballet school there? Well, that gives me something to research for my next adventure!

Beyond The Theatre

Outside the theatre walls, Prague is overflowing with rich history. Imagine my excitement as I stumbled upon a statue of the famous ballerina Anna Pavlova! They even erected it in the garden of her favourite hotel, which made it a truly charming spot for ballet fans. I had to recreate her famous “Dying Swan” pose there for a perfect photograph, of course! I'd never felt so much in tune with my tutu and myself, the way I blended in with the elegant surroundings.

Oh, I mustn't forget, on the Saturday, we rode ponies through the park. The gorgeous green grass and the playful ponies made it feel like I had gone back in time! Not only did I get my fill of fresh air and laughter, but it was also so very satisfying to make such a strong bond with these lovely animals. Of course, we had to stop for a little photo shoot as well, you just have to get that gorgeous backdrop! I hope you're ready to see a sneak peek of our pictures later, when I post them on the blog. The pictures just look stunning. They just shout for a pink tutu don’t they?

A Pink Tutu Love Affair

This weekend was truly something special, mes amies. The blend of artistry, history, and charming city streets made it feel as if I was living in a dream – a dream where tutus reign supreme! Prague definitely has a permanent place in my heart, not only for its sheer beauty, but also for inspiring me to wear my tutu everywhere, especially to those lovely cafe’s by the riverbank where I would watch people go by, dressed up in all sorts of beautiful, traditional, colourful costumes - even if my only costume was a tutu!

As always, thanks for joining me on this journey. It was an unforgettable adventure – and let's be honest, what better way to explore a beautiful city than wearing your very best tutu, darling! I must admit, it was just as satisfying for me, as much as it must be to dress in fine clothes, which of course are part of the art of dance too. You just can't go wrong! The next time you plan your travels, remember my mantra: Always Pack a Tutu! It's the most magical way to discover new worlds. Don’t forget to check my blog and my new tutu gallery soon, where I have more fun memories to share. See you next Wednesday, Tutuettes, for another exciting adventure!

P.S Don't forget to tell all your friends, to get everyone wearing a Pink Tutu! It's the only way!
