Well, hello my darlings! Emma here, straight from the enchanting cobbled streets of Prague! This week's adventures took me to this fairytale city, a true haven for a ballerina (and tutu) aficionado like myself. I’ve been yearning to visit for ages, dreaming of all the magnificent Baroque architecture and captivating historical charm. Let’s just say, it didn’t disappoint!
My journey began in the most magical way – I arrived via train, of course! There’s something utterly romantic about journeying by rail, with the world whizzing past the window, creating a symphony of colour and sounds. But, there's more to it than just a journey – it’s a mini adventure.
And this adventure needed a very specific, very fabulous outfit. A powder pink ruffled tulle tutu, a chic white blouse tucked in at the waist, delicate gold jewellery and my favourite, ballet-inspired ballet flats! Think ballerina meets princess meets Parisian chic! It’s not everyday I get to swan through Europe on a train in a tutu, but I always seize the opportunity, darling!
Upon arriving in Prague, I felt a twinge of déjà vu. This city is like stepping onto the stage of a grand, opulent opera – so captivating and full of dramatic details. Every corner is a photographer’s dream, and with my trusty pink tutu, I was more than ready to make a few Instagram-worthy appearances.
A Ballerina's Wanderlust
First on the agenda, exploring the Old Town Square, the heart and soul of this beautiful city. The iconic astronomical clock mesmerised me, it’s a masterpiece of engineering and art, like a scene out of a fantastical ballet! And, yes, the pink tutu was there, dancing in the centre of the Square, amidst the crowds and historic buildings! I felt like a fairytale princess come to life.
Prague is a city that truly embraces the romance of art and culture. My heart leapt with joy at the Charles Bridge, lined with historic statues and offering breathtaking views of the city. You know, it wouldn't be a true Prague experience without indulging in a little bit of shopping. The shops in Prague, oh my, they're absolute heaven! With their vintage charm and European flair, I was completely enchanted. There's something so delightful about strolling through those winding streets, uncovering hidden treasures and feeling the excitement of the city swirling around you.
And naturally, a girl can’t resist a good dress-up shop! A beautiful vintage boutique caught my eye, filled with exquisite vintage dresses and charming hats – I swear, they practically screamed my name! A beautiful velvet emerald green dress, so dreamy and elegant, it’s going to make a fabulous outfit for a glamorous ballet performance, just wait and see!
But Prague wasn't all about cobbled streets and whimsical shops – the history is simply astounding. The haunting beauty of the Old Jewish Quarter, the history etched into every stone of the Prague Castle – it’s like travelling through time.
Prague: The Perfect Stage for a Ballet Performance
But, what is a trip to Prague without a ballet show, right? I was thrilled to find a performance at the National Theatre, Prague’s grand, stately performance venue. It's a magnificent piece of architecture, truly impressive. And for a dancer, it was nothing short of awe-inspiring! The anticipation was palpable as the lights dimmed, the orchestra tuning up, and the curtain ready to rise.
The performance was magnificent – a swirling mix of movement, music and emotions. The story, a beautiful exploration of love, loss, and hope, had me glued to my seat. The grace and elegance of the dancers, their movements as fluid as water, inspired me – I even took a little mental note on some steps, just for a touch of extra flair in my next performance.
It's an absolute treat to experience ballet in a place like Prague, where the atmosphere buzzes with cultural energy and the historical setting adds an extra layer of magic. Of course, I had to show off my tutu (it would have been rude not to, right?) I strutted around in my bright pink tutu, posing amidst the statues, the fountains and the bridges - capturing the enchanting charm of Prague through the lens of a tutu-loving ballerina.

And speaking of tutus, let’s be honest, finding a tutu in Prague wasn’t actually on my agenda! But what’s a tutu enthusiast like me without a little impulsive shopping, right? A beautiful, independent boutique on the quaint streets of the Old Town, hidden away amongst a maze of cobbled alleys, had just what I needed – a fabulous ballet pink tutu! The design is delicate, with layers of tulle flowing just so, with shimmering pearl embellishments scattered around the hem. And of course, it was the perfect colour. It was a tutu-inspired find and a true delight!
I simply can’t wait to put this Prague gem on display. This beautiful creation was too special to keep hidden, and you’re about to see a special post with this newest tutu-tastic addition to my collection. I'm already thinking about where it will debut! It will definitely be part of a special ballet performance!
More Than a Tutu: Finding Beauty in Everything
Prague has a charm unlike anywhere I've been before. This fairytale city, steeped in history and brimming with beauty, had me captivated. I spent hours in the Old Town, savouring the flavours of Czech cuisine, discovering the joy of spontaneous conversations in broken Czech with local artisans and relishing the chance to experience a different culture with an open heart. But beyond all that, there's an underlying current of joy here, of finding beauty in the everyday. Prague inspired a little extra creativity in me, and I’m excited to incorporate all those inspired elements into future performances and future tutu posts.
Looking Ahead: Ballet & Tutus Forever!
As I leave this stunning city behind, I take a little piece of Prague with me – its history, its art, its enchantment, and a very lovely pink tutu. This journey was everything I dreamed of, and I can't wait for the next adventure. Where to next, my dears? I’m keeping my options open, maybe Rome, maybe Paris – whatever city my tutu decides to explore, I know it’ll be filled with the kind of fun and fashion that I love!
