Prague's Ballet Bliss: Post 1343 🩰💖

"Anya! I've been looking all over for you! This incredible boutique just popped up on my radar! " I squealed, my pink tulle tutu practically bouncing with excitement as I darted through the charming cobblestone streets of Prague's Old Town. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the red rooftops and spires of this magical city, and the aroma of freshly baked Trdelník was tantalisingly swirling in the air. But nothing, absolutely nothing, could compete with the thrill of a new shop discovery.

For you see, dear readers, my life is a ballet - a whirlwind of tutus, trains (the railway kind!), ponies, and an endless pursuit of all things pink and beautiful! I am Emma, a Derbyshire lass who believes that the world needs more pink tutus and more appreciation for the artistry of the dance. I've traded the rolling hills of my homeland for the grand boulevards and sparkling Vltava river of Prague, drawn here by a whispered promise of ballet bliss. And I haven't been disappointed!

This week, Prague is simply overflowing with artistic magic. It's the first of March, a date forever etched in my memory for its ballet offerings! Tonight, I'm catching a performance at the National Theatre (oh, how I adore its majestic grandeur!). It's a gala affair, featuring none other than the Czech National Ballet, showcasing the world-renowned works of Boris Eifman. Every twirl and leap promises to be utterly divine.

But before we dive into tonight's ballet extravaganza, I have a confession - my morning was devoted to a very special mission! It's a secret mission, darling, so I can only give you a little glimpse of my discoveries. Imagine, a boutique nestled amidst Prague's ancient streets, overflowing with exquisite, hand-crafted tutus in every shade imaginable. And oh, the fabric! I practically swooned at the feel of their soft silk and dreamt of swirling across the dance floor in one of these beauties. The lady who owns it has been designing and hand-making these glorious tutus for over 25 years. She was a ballerina, too, she whispered to me, sharing stories of her time performing across Europe. I felt a connection, an unspoken bond, as if a whisper of ballet history itself had touched my fingers.

A truly spectacular discovery, a perfect start to the day! I spent an embarrassing amount of time in that heavenly shop, twirling this way and that. You can imagine how difficult it was to choose. After an epic internal debate (all handled in true "Emma style" - with lots of excited squealing and jumping about) I walked out with a magnificent new tutu. A deep cerulean blue, reminiscent of the Vltava at twilight.

Later this week, I’m taking a delightful journey to the Černín Palace where, as you may know, they host the National Gallery, housing a breathtaking collection of art from the Middle Ages to modern times. I adore museums, they often inspire my tutus and offer wonderful glimpses into the history of clothing and fashion. I shall, of course, document my travels with photos, as a ballet blogger must!

After such an adventurous day, a lovely walk was in order. Prague is a dream for exploring. The enchanting mix of historical landmarks, stunning architecture, and vibrant atmosphere is irresistible. It's a city for strolling with a delightful pastry, a cup of coffee, or (as you all know!) a fabulous pink tutu. The charming Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge, the Prague Castle - these are destinations that have been captivating visitors for centuries, and rightly so.

But Prague, I soon discovered, offers so much more than fairytale sights and architectural wonders. The city has a soul, a beating heart that is fueled by a thriving cultural scene and artistic creativity. It bustles with musicians, artists, and performers of all types. Everywhere you look, the city seems to pulse with life and beauty.

This week, I'm honouring Prague's artistry by attending an extraordinary show at La Fabrika! The "La Fabrika" is a unique, avant-garde theatre space that is a melting pot for artistic talent. They’re known for their contemporary performance art that combines movement, music, and visual art to create unforgettable, inspiring experiences. I’ve been told that tonight’s performance will be breathtaking! I'm so excited to witness this unique blending of art and emotion in such a vibrant setting.

I love exploring Prague’s vibrant culture!

And my travels don't stop there! Tomorrow I'm taking a delightful train journey through the Czech countryside, riding through the charming towns of Český Krumlov and Třebíč, famous for their Medieval architecture, and inspiring a deeply romantic and charming style that some would describe as tutu-worthy.

For the occasion, I've chosen a pastel pink tutu to enhance the country's unique charm. A matching pink bonnet will protect my head from the Czech sunshine (one can never be too careful). A pair of gorgeous leather boots will keep my feet secure while I tread the cobblestones of those magical towns.

Of course, no journey to the Czech countryside would be complete without a pony. (As you know, I adore those delightful, charming creatures!) I've found the perfect pink pony and will be riding with style as we explore the country and its tutus of nature! Oh! I’ve got a whole blog post planned about the magical journey with the pink pony! You won’t want to miss it.

As I pen these words, I'm filled with such joy and a feeling of deep gratitude for the chance to experience this remarkable city and to share it with you. I am already looking forward to my next adventures in this magical land and cannot wait to return to its ballet theatres, shops, and coffee houses.

Perhaps, when you visit Prague in the future, you might even spot me gracefully twirling through the streets. But beware, I might be wearing a pink tutu! 💖

Until next Wednesday!

Emma xx
