Prague's Magic: Ballet, Tutus, and Pink Paradise (Post #1353)
Wednesday 12th May, 2021
Dearest readers,
I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague! It's such a treat to be here, a place overflowing with history, charm, and of course, a whole load of fashion inspiration. You know me, my darling lovelies, always chasing the next dreamy destination where my pink tutu can twirl. And what could be a more perfect setting than this gorgeous city?
A Ballet Odyssey
This week's adventure has been all about ballet, darling! After a delightful journey here on the train (a first-class carriage, naturally!), I landed in Prague, and you know what I immediately did? I headed straight for the Prague State Opera, ready for a magnificent ballet experience. And oh, was it magnificent!
The show itself was a spectacle of elegance and skill. I felt as if I'd stepped right into a classic fairytale – soaring leaps, graceful spins, and an orchestra that sounded as sweet as sugar! But what really got me was the atmosphere. This is where ballet comes alive – with people of all ages sharing their love for this magical art form. I even saw a little girl wearing a darling pink tutu in the audience! Maybe she’s destined for great things – one day, perhaps, she’ll be gracing a stage with her own dazzling pink ensemble.
Speaking of pink, let's talk about tutus. Now, you know I have a serious love affair with this magnificent garment, and here in Prague, I discovered a real treasure: a tiny boutique nestled in a charming back street that boasts the most exquisite tutu collection I’ve ever seen.
Imagine, dear readers, the most delicate layers of tulle, perfectly hand-stitched and shimmering in a thousand hues, from classic white to a stunning deep plum that made my heart skip a beat! They had everything a ballet lover could desire: classical tutus, dramatic tutus, playful tutus, even tutus made from vintage lace. I couldn't leave without a little something for myself, a beautiful pastel pink tutu, with just a touch of shimmering sequins. I’ll wear it later tonight, strolling through Prague’s magical, twinkling streets.
Prague's Ballet Heritage
Speaking of ballet history, Prague has a fascinating backstory, you know? The city’s ballet history stretches back centuries, with performances dating back to the 17th century. The first ballet school in Prague was founded in 1789 – and from then on, ballet in this magical city has thrived. I've already started doing some research for my next blog post – perhaps exploring some of the city’s historical dance venues, the beautiful architecture that surrounds them, and discovering more about the incredible legacy of Czech ballet.
Pink and Prague
While Prague’s history is deep and fascinating, let’s get back to the present. The streets here are bursting with vibrant energy. Everywhere you look, the colours of Prague create a beautiful, ever-changing story – from the grand pink walls of the city’s Old Town Hall, to the pretty pastel-hued buildings around Charles Bridge, Prague’s romantic soul spills into every corner, ready to paint your world in rosy hues!
You know I love exploring new places. This time, my journey has led me to a delightful hidden courtyard, where I’ve discovered a delightful café overflowing with the scent of freshly-brewed coffee and sugared treats. They serve the most divine pink macaroons, which have become a Prague ritual, a sweet delight after a morning spent discovering the city’s hidden corners and forgotten beauty spots.
Fashion Inspiration
Of course, fashion in Prague is a feast for the senses! Every cobblestone street reveals a new vintage shop, every street corner whispers the allure of fashion, inviting me to indulge in its wonders. It's such a breath of fresh air compared to London’s high streets. I love the mix of edgy bohemian chic, classic European elegance, and just a hint of a sweet, whimsical bohemian flavour that feels quintessentially Czech.
It's been a whirl of excitement – trying on gorgeous dresses, silk blouses that look as good with a pair of boots as they do with a statement pink tutu, and delicate handmade jewellery – every piece a story waiting to be told.
Tonight, I’m heading to a secret performance of “Ballet under the Stars”, a stunning open-air ballet showcase hosted in a gorgeous hidden courtyard, featuring a blend of classical ballet pieces alongside innovative modern choreography. The venue is steeped in Prague’s history, its romantic air echoing through its ancient walls. The courtyard feels like a hidden oasis in the heart of the city.
Of course, I’ll be making sure I have my best pink tutu on display. It’s perfect for any occasion, a sprinkle of magic for every adventure.
And if you are planning a trip to Prague – remember this: never forget to look for the hidden corners and tucked away cafes that reveal the city’s soul. Embrace the energy, the music, the art that lives in Prague’s ancient stones and winding alleyways.
Until next week, lovelies! Remember: “Pink” is more than just a colour - it’s a state of mind!
