Pink Tutu Prague: Post 1356 - Whirl Through the City of a Hundred Spires
Hello my darling darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! I'm so thrilled to be writing to you from this utterly enchanting city, where the spires seem to pierce the sky and the cobblestone streets echo with the whispers of history. It's been a whirlwind week, filled with ballet performances, exquisite shops, and even a very special train journey, so hold onto your tiaras, ladies, it's about to get pretty pink!
A Royal Welcome
Arriving in Prague on Tuesday, after a delightful train journey from Derbyshire, I was immediately enchanted by its charm. The city welcomed me with a warm embrace, like the hug of a well-worn silk scarf. It's funny how travel does that; every new city feels like a stage for a new chapter, a chance to step into a fairytale. Speaking of fairytales, my favourite moment from the train ride? That would be encountering a very spirited young boy dressed as a prince. Turns out, he was off to a royal ball! Of course, we both knew I'd have to be the princess, so naturally, I offered to waltz him on his way. I can't imagine he'll ever forget a princess in a pink tutu. I won't either, that's for sure!
Stepping onto the Prague Ballet Stage
And speaking of dancing, let's get to the heart of my week! The main event, darling, the absolute cherry on top of this magical Prague sundae? A truly divine ballet performance at the National Theatre, a glorious venue bathed in the soft glow of history. This grand old building, the very heart of Prague’s theatrical life, welcomed me like a long-lost friend, its stories whispered from the walls. And then the curtain rose, revealing a kaleidoscope of colour, beauty, and elegance.
The performance was a masterpiece of grace and emotion. I'm always humbled by the stories told through movement and music, the raw passion poured onto the stage. The dancers were simply stunning, their movements precise, their artistry breathtaking. It made me wish I could slip on my pointe shoes and pirouette right alongside them! (Maybe one day... with a whole lot of practise!)
Prague’s Magical Dance of Fashion
Speaking of shoes, I found myself completely captivated by Prague's bustling fashion scene. Walking down the cobbled streets, it's hard not to be mesmerised by the intricate window displays, each a work of art. From vintage boutiques bursting with elegant silhouettes to avant-garde designers pushing the boundaries of fashion, Prague's boutiques and shops are a haven for a girl who loves a good pink tutu. I've certainly filled my suitcase with some wonderful finds! A touch of Parisian chic, a hint of vintage flair, and of course, some pieces that have been begging for a splash of my favourite colour, pink. It’s been impossible not to incorporate my passion for pink into my outfits here, whether it’s a delicate blush-coloured scarf, a vibrant pink clutch, or a whimsical floral print, there’s something special about adding a touch of pink to every outfit.
A Touch of History
Of course, a trip to Prague isn't complete without exploring its fascinating history. Wandering through the cobbled alleyways of the Old Town, it's easy to imagine yourself in a time of emperors and royalty, with stories echoing around every corner. We all know that tutu history and ballet history go hand-in-hand! My love of fashion makes me absolutely enthralled by the historical context behind tutus. I'm always searching for a snippet of a forgotten dance, a tiny detail about a forgotten fashion trend! I must admit, this city makes it all the more exciting.
One particular treasure that I found was the Prague Castle, a fairytale fortress with breathtaking views. It’s been wonderful exploring its historic halls, picture-perfect gardens and magnificent cathedrals. Everywhere you turn there’s history - a relic of the past waiting to be discovered, each detail a whispered secret of Prague's story.
More to Come
But darling, my Prague adventure is far from over. I've already started planning the rest of my week, with more ballet performances, some fantastic new restaurants, and maybe even a visit to a local ballet studio! After all, I have to stay in tip-top shape to twirl my way through the streets. Don't forget to check back next Wednesday, where I’ll be telling you all about the new fashion finds I’ve unearthed, the most charming café in Prague, and my attempts at a very impromptu ballet performance in the streets (more about that later, perhaps!).
For now, remember to spread a bit of pink wherever you go, and dream big, my lovelies. See you next week!
