Prague, my darlings! đŠ°đ
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague! It's Wednesday, the 2nd of February, 2022, and I'm brimming with excitement to share this week's adventure with you! This week has been all about ballet â from the grand stages to the cobbled streets, Prague is awash with grace and beauty.
Blog post #1391: Let's get this fabulous journey rollingâŚ
Arrival and Tutu Shopping Spree
The journey here was enchanting, as always! This time, I embraced the charm of the European rail network. There's something so romantic about travelling by train, the gentle rocking and the fleeting glimpses of the changing landscape. I felt like I was stepping into one of my favourite ballet stories, especially as my train passed through picturesque German countryside.
Arriving in Prague, I was immediately swept away by its beauty â the historic architecture, the cobbled streets, the cafes bursting with laughter â it felt like stepping into a fairytale! I couldn't resist donning my latest pink tutu creation - a shimmering, silk affair with cascading ruffles â and dancing through the streets!
Naturally, my first stop was a tutu emporium. I mean, you can't possibly go to a city like Prague without exploring the fashion! It felt like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole! Rows upon rows of the most exquisite, intricately crafted tutus, in every imaginable shade, shape, and size! I simply couldn't resist indulging in a brand new fluffy, pink number, with cascading tiers of tulle â just perfect for waltzing down Pragueâs cobbled streets. Itâs already earned itself the affectionate nickname, âThe Prague Puffâ.
A Glimpse of Pragueâs Ballet Legacy
You can't possibly explore Prague without discovering its vibrant ballet heritage. Iâm so proud of the rich history this city holds when it comes to this elegant art form. From its historic opera houses to the legendary ballet schools, Prague has a truly captivating love affair with the graceful art of ballet.
My next stop was the exquisite National Theatre, a masterpiece of Neo-Renaissance architecture. It stands proud along the banks of the Vltava River. Walking inside, I was truly mesmerized. This theatre is a cultural landmark, housing within its walls the history of Czech ballet, showcasing extraordinary dancers for over a century. Just standing beneath its grand chandeliers, I could feel the magic that permeates the stage and its audience. Itâs no surprise that Prague has so many captivating stories to tell. Itâs a place where artistry intertwines with a rich and compelling history, and that makes me want to spin even more!
In a tutu-tiful mood, I was ready to embrace Prague's captivating culture. After my inspiring visit to the theatre, I decided to see Prague from a more whimsical viewpoint. I hired a carriage and my beautiful white pony named Clementine for the afternoon. Clementine is as graceful and refined as any ballerina I know â well, perhaps slightly less in pink â but just as sweet and friendly. Clementine gently clopped her hooves across the historic cobbles, taking me through a ballet of sights, including the Charles Bridge â which seemed to waltz gently over the River Vltava!
A Delightful "La Bohème"
The magic didnât stop there! In the evening, I went to a magical performance of Puccini's "La Bohème" at the enchanting Estates Theatre. This magnificent baroque jewel has housed opera since the 18th century and tonight was a symphony of visual and auditory splendour. As the notes soared, my heart filled with joy â "La Bohème" has always been a special favourite, its tale of love, loss and resilience, beautifully woven through music.
As the curtain fell, I found myself dancing my way back to my quaint little hotel. Prague, you are so full of surprises and grace!
Finding Inspiration Everywhere
Every corner I turn in Prague reveals an enchanting scene! My favourite discovery this week has to be "Ballet Prague". This remarkable ballet company embraces traditional and contemporary ballet with equal flair! Their rehearsals, performances and passionate dedication inspire me endlessly. Watching them gracefully move across the stage is like watching a silent, captivating film unfold â their stories are told without words but are all the more impactful. Itâs an exciting fusion of the old and new, tradition and creativity, all wrapped up in a dazzling and magical spectacle! I must say, they even wore a dash of pink, in their tutus. That always makes a ballet more enticing, doesnât it?!
I must share some news: I've been inspired by the elegance and vibrancy of the Czech dancers â so much so that I've joined "Ballet Prague" for a private session! It was amazing! After years of intense training at Derbyshire Ballet Academy, back in the UK, it was wonderful to finally find myself moving amongst such talent again, with the music and steps harmonizing together in a beautiful performance of art. It certainly is going to add a bit of magic to this week, with my new âBallet Pragueâ leotard. I simply love it and had to give it an elegant pink bow and a little splash of sparkle for good measure. Of course!
Every corner I turn in this stunning city, I feel the joy and the artistry in the very air. Itâs an inspiration for my own dancing.
