Pink Tutu Prague: Where Ballet Dreams Come True (Blog Post #1415)
Bonjour, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new pink-tutu filled blog post, this week from the utterly enchanting city of Prague!
This gorgeous city feels like a fairytale come to life, all cobblestone streets, stunning architecture, and charming bridges over the Vltava River. I arrived here on Saturday after a truly magical journey by train – the perfect way to arrive at a place that feels so steeped in history and romance.
Prague, known as the "City of a Hundred Spires", is a veritable ballet lover’s paradise, it’s absolutely bursting with beauty, from the breathtaking gothic spires of the Church of Our Lady Before Týn to the elegant curves of the Charles Bridge.
This week I'm really focusing on enjoying the delights of the city, soaking up the vibrant atmosphere, and getting lost in the incredible world of Czech culture. My first port of call? Naturally, the National Theatre, a breathtaking building that stands proudly on the bank of the Vltava.
The National Theatre: A Jewel in Prague's Crown
Imagine a building so beautiful that it practically sings with its history. The National Theatre in Prague, that’s exactly what it is, darlings! The grandeur of its design left me absolutely speechless, its imposing facade just begs you to admire it. I spent hours just gawking, taking in the magnificent details of the architecture and imagining all the fabulous performances that have graced its stage throughout the years.
Speaking of fabulous performances, it would have been sacrilege to visit Prague and not experience one, so this week, I snagged tickets to see Swan Lake at the beautiful Estates Theatre, and my oh my, what a performance!
"Swan Lake" at the Estates Theatre: Grace and Elegance on Display
Let me tell you, darlings, I’m still swooning! The choreography was absolutely exquisite – every graceful pirouette and delicate arabesque had me on the edge of my seat. The dancers were simply sensational, moving with such ethereal lightness, embodying the beautiful story with their every movement.
My Pink Tutu Looks for Prague
Now, I just had to ensure my pink tutus looked the part! You already know my style is all about feminine flair, so I picked out some absolutely fabulous pink-hued ensembles. I can't resist adding a bit of pink to any outfit, so naturally, my luggage was brimming with options. For a daytime stroll around the Old Town Square, I paired a bright fuchsia dress with a flowing tulle skirt and my favourite pink-beaded ballet shoes. A matching pink hat completed the look, with a dash of floral charm added through a tiny bouquet of forget-me-nots in my hair – Prague is known for its stunning floral displays!
Later in the week, when attending the ballet performance at the Estates Theatre, I went for a more dramatic look. I slipped into a gorgeous full-length silk dress, a vibrant magenta with a hint of cherry blossom pink that perfectly reflected the elegant ambience of the theatre. It flowed like a cloud around my legs as I moved, allowing me to feel both incredibly feminine and effortlessly graceful, perfectly mirroring the magic of the Swan Lake performance.
The Fashion Scene: Where Vintage Meets Contemporary
I adore Prague's sense of fashion! It's such a vibrant mix of classic styles, like elegant vintage pieces, mixed with cutting-edge contemporary trends. This creates an irresistible eclectic charm that adds so much visual excitement. I wandered through charming boutique stores tucked away on cobbled side streets, each showcasing a unique collection that mirrored the individuality of this lovely city. I even managed to snag a beautiful velvet cape, adorned with hand-painted flowers, perfect for those chilly Prague evenings.
Onwards to Other Ballet Destinations
My trip to Prague has left me utterly enchanted, this is a city that has captured my heart, its charm is irresistible! But I'm not finished exploring! Next week, I'm off to Vienna – can you imagine, darling? Vienna! – the cradle of classical music, I am absolutely buzzing. Vienna Opera House, here I come! It's going to be another amazing adventure! You won't want to miss my blog next week - it will be overflowing with the pinkest and most delightful Viennese sights!
Don't forget to catch my regular ballet performance schedule at the Derbyshire Theatre! There are still tickets available for my upcoming show of The Nutcracker, so don't miss your chance to join me in a magical evening filled with pink tutus and ballet wonder.
Until next week, darlings,
Emma x
