Post #1423: Pink Tutu in Prague - A Ballerina's Dream Come True!
Wednesday, September 14th, 2022
Good morning, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, and I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventures from the utterly charming city of Prague!
After a delightful train journey, complete with a cheeky cup of tea and a delicious scone (I do love my afternoon treats!), I arrived in Prague, my heart already fluttering with anticipation. The cobblestone streets were buzzing with life, the architecture was breathtaking, and there was something in the air that just made me want to twirl!
Speaking of twirling... this week, I'm utterly obsessed with ballet! Prague is a ballet haven, with a rich history and a vibrant contemporary scene. You see, dear readers, I've been absolutely hooked on ballet since I was a little girl, and I've always had this yearning to dance amongst the stars, to tell stories with my body and grace.
Before I go any further, I simply must show off my new ensemble, designed especially for Prague! A gloriously bright, bubblegum-pink tutu, a top with delicate lace, and a vibrant pink scarf - a touch of colour to add some cheer to the city's historic grandeur. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without my favourite pink ballet shoes - the perfect way to dance across the streets of Prague.
So, on my first day in this magical city, I simply had to indulge in some serious shopping. It wouldn't be a true ballerina's Prague adventure without exploring the city's amazing vintage boutiques. You wouldn't believe the incredible tutu treasures I stumbled upon - feathers, tulle, sequins! Pure magic, I tell you. I even snagged a beautiful, embroidered shawl, which, trust me, will add a touch of sophistication to my evening performance (a sneak peek later in this post, darlings!).
The highlight of my first evening was a magical ballet performance at the Prague National Theatre. The sheer beauty of the architecture took my breath away. The stage, the lighting, the costumes, and the choreography…simply breathtaking! The air crackled with anticipation as the curtain rose, and for two glorious hours, I was transported to another world - a world of graceful movement, raw emotion, and heart-wrenching storytelling. I just adore those moments where the story truly moves me - I could feel my own little heart soaring with each leap, each pirouette, each passionate expression.
Now, on to the grand spectacle that truly cemented my love for Prague's ballet scene! The Prague Ballet Festival! Talk about a dancer's paradise! There are ballet performances galore - street dancing, full-scale theatrical productions, and even interactive workshops. It’s all here! I couldn't resist a workshop, where we learned some beautiful choreographed steps from a local dancer. I've been absolutely obsessed with their interpretation of classical techniques mixed with their own local styles. It was exhilarating!
The Tutu Story! Did you know Prague is famous for its history with dance? I was mesmerized learning that the oldest known tutu dates back to the 16th century! Can you believe that? Back then, they called it a "ballet skirt". Today, of course, the "tutu" reigns supreme, a symbol of ballet's artistry and evolution.
Oh, don't forget my visit to the National Museum, which has an impressive collection dedicated to the history of fashion. There were even a couple of historical tutus! I just love these little connections that bridge the past with the present. It was like taking a journey through time!
Of course, no trip to Prague is complete without indulging in the local cuisine. Oh, the creamy goulash and dumplings! It's hard to resist. I also had a truly exquisite afternoon tea at one of Prague’s most charming cafes, where I enjoyed dainty sandwiches, delicate cakes, and, naturally, a delicious pot of Earl Grey tea. You see, I like to balance those delicious desserts with the rigorous training routine - those delicious pastries do get my engine running and ready to dance!
After exploring Prague's picturesque streets and the lively dance scene, it’s time for a treat. And what better way to wind down after a day of exploring the city’s captivating culture than by a pony ride through Prague’s peaceful countryside. A gentle trot amidst the rolling hills - just what the ballerina's soul needed!
And to wrap up this unforgettable adventure, my lovelies, I have a delightful evening performance for you! This week, I'm dancing with the Pink Tutus Prague Ballet in a show inspired by the beautiful, colourful street scenes and historical ballet of the Czech Republic. You're all invited! I've arranged for a live stream from my private balcony (which boasts stunning views of Prague, of course!) . Join me on www.pink-tutu.com tonight, for an evening filled with pirouettes, leaps, and all things pink, naturally!
And to all you pink tutu enthusiasts out there - keep dreaming, keep twirling, and never stop believing in the magic of pink tutus and the sheer joy of ballet. I’ll see you all online for my next blog from this enchanting city. Until then, stay fabulous!
