Prague in Pink: Ballet Dreams & Fashion Finds! (Post #1444)

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from the magical streets of Prague, with my heart full of ballet, and my wardrobe brimming with pretty pink treasures!

This week, we're going full fairytale as I take you on a whirl through Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires, all decked out in my favourite pink tutu, of course! (You wouldn't catch me anywhere without it!)

As you all know, Wednesday's are reserved for my Prague Blog. This city's magic and vibrant atmosphere simply had to have a spot on my website! It's like a little ballet of its own. Think of the majestic Charles Bridge as the stage, the colourful houses as a painted backdrop, and the charming cafes? Well, they are the perfectly pink-hued refreshments to keep us going on our dancing journey.

It all began on the train, as always. A journey through the countryside, admiring rolling fields that seem to go on forever, each with its own charm and story. You simply can't beat a train journey, can you? It's like a ballet on wheels! My window seat gave me the perfect view, especially for a quick spot of ballerina stretches before the big arrival!

Once in Prague, it was straight to my cosy little guesthouse. Think warm colours, floral wallpaper and lace doilies. I just adore these kinds of places! My room even had a little vanity table so I could indulge in a full glam session. After all, even a ballet star has to look the part!

Prague, like any ballerina, has many beautiful faces. My first stop had to be the iconic Old Town Square, an incredible sight, bathed in the warm glow of afternoon sunlight. The stunning architecture took my breath away, a magnificent display of grace and history. Think Gothic spires reaching for the sky, like a graceful ballerina doing a grand jeté. Each window and corner whispered tales of bygone eras, tempting me to explore its intricate stories. And I don't think I’ve seen so many stunning gothic tutus! If the streets of Prague were a stage, it would be one full of drama!

But of course, a visit to Prague wouldn't be complete without indulging in its world-famous fashion scene! Prague's charming boutiques are crammed with an incredible array of unique vintage treasures and chic designer pieces. This time around, I simply couldn't resist a fluffy pink shawl, a delicate chain adorned with little ballerina charms, and a whimsical straw hat topped with a pink satin bow. All perfect additions to my tutu-inspired wardrobe!

Prague's soul pulsates with artistic energy, so after all the shopping, it was time for a little cultural treat. On February 8th, we're going to see “La Bohème” at the National Theatre. Can you believe? The perfect blend of passionate ballet and timeless beauty! The graceful choreography is certain to mesmerize us, just as Prague’s charming ambiance had done. You can almost feel the whispers of the stories unfold on stage, full of dreams, hope, and maybe a hint of a tragic ending (but of course, the happy endings always get me weeping!

This ballet was not my only treat though. This week is also jam packed with exciting events that bring the beauty of the city to life.

For instance, I heard they have a special* “Prague Light Festival”* going on this week! That’s definitely got to go on my to-do list. With their interactive light installations, vibrant colours, and modern artistry, I can't wait to witness the city's transformative light show! Imagine, all that dancing light, illuminating the beautiful, historic buildings... I think this might inspire a few ballet moves!

As my journey winds down, I know that a visit to Prague is never complete without the sweetest treats. Prague is famed for its “Trdelnik" - delicious cinnamon pastries that are always a must-try! These fluffy pastries look like little ballerina tutus, dipped in sugar! That’s what I call a treat!

A city this beautiful has such vibrant energy that it's hard to say goodbye. As I boarded my train homeward, a touch of melancholy touched me as I glanced back at the enchanting Prague skyline. Yet, it was a sweet sadness, tinged with the promise of returning to this place. A city of graceful charm and a ballet-loving heart.

This week I found myself falling a little bit more in love with pink (as if that was even possible) - Pink skies over Prague, pink tutus in vintage shops, even pink sugared dough! And what more could a tutu-wearing ballerina girl possibly need? Stay tuned for my next blog next Wednesday from my little corner of Derbyshire - hopefully I can get you all dancing along!
