Pink Tutu Prague: Where Fairy Tales and Fashion Collide! (Blog Post #1447)

Wednesday 1st March 2023

Darling readers,

Grab your pinkest tutu, a sprinkle of magic, and hop aboard the Pink Tutu Express! We're off to the heart of Europe, to the magical city of Prague, where cobbled streets whisper stories of emperors and princesses, and gothic spires pierce the sky like a thousand dancing ballerinas.

As you know, dear readers, a girl in a pink tutu never truly leaves home without her favourite mode of transport. Yes, that's right! We started this enchanting journey from my little Derbyshire village aboard the Pink Tutu Express - a charming, rosy pink vintage carriage pulled by none other than two handsome chestnut ponies, their names are Pip and Squeak. Pip and Squeak, (of course, wearing mini pink tutus!) were proudly carrying all my fabulous ballet wardrobe. After all, how could I travel across Europe without the most magnificent tutus to showcase the breathtaking beauty of Prague?

Once we reached Prague's central station, the hustle and bustle of the city wrapped around me like a silk ribbon, pulling me towards the magnificent Prague Castle, which dominated the horizon. And, darling, imagine my delight when I stumbled across a quaint, pastel pink shop overflowing with beautiful vintage lace and tulle. My pink tutu simply had to be accessorised, donā€™t you agree?

I fell in love with the shop, it reminded me so much of my beloved Tutu Emporium in Derbyshire. And, with a quick flick of my pink feather boa and a twinkle in my eye, I waltzed out with enough lace to dress a whole ballet corps and a breathtakingly beautiful, antique pink satin bonnet adorned with hand-painted rosebuds, just perfect for my first evening in Prague.

That evening, I was lucky enough to snag tickets to a production at the legendary National Theatre, the biggest theatre in all of the Czech Republic. Imagine the drama of the chandeliers against a velvet backdrop! Oh, I simply love a touch of drama! This magnificent, beautifully aged theatre is home to all types of productions and it's renowned as the beating heart of Czech arts and culture.

The performance, Don Giovanni, told the story of an infamous libertine - whatā€™s more enchanting than that? There was a mixture of laughter and drama - and it all flowed so elegantly with beautiful dancing that, darling, I had a little cry! (Well, not to worry, my mascara remained flawless!)

Of course, before arriving in Prague, I delved deeply into its rich cultural history, and I discovered that the ballet has always held a special place in Prague's heart. From its early days, the cityā€™s stage has been a vibrant platform for dancers of all styles - the Prague ballet has a legacy of exceptional artistry. It is so much more than just entertainment; itā€™s a story woven with threads of creativity and resilience that shines as brightly today as it did in its glorious past.

Iā€™m not a ballet snob darling, but I will say, there's simply nothing like watching ballet in the birthplace of Mozart and Smetana.

Now, darling, here is where the Pink Tutu Express truly steps out of the ordinary. To delve deeper into the soul of Prague, I ventured beyond the cobblestone paths, and found myself riding through the picturesque landscape onā€¦ drumroll, please a graceful grey pony named 'Luna'! Luna, with her fluffy tail swaying in the wind, galloped through the fields, a perfectly poetic journey. She even sported a beautiful pink satin bridle with matching tassels, just for me.

As the sun began to set, I arrived at the historic Prague Zoo - which I recommend to any Pink Tutu traveller, it's simply lovely.

Of course, my evening wouldnā€™t be complete without a little dancing under the Prague sky, now, would it? I decided to try out a charming ballet school nestled in the heart of Old Town. Imagine, a haven where children and adults learn the graceful movements of ballet set against the historic backdrop of the Prague streets. Oh, my darling, the teacher, a lovely lady in a gorgeous pale pink dress, welcomed me into the ballet family with such open arms! I enjoyed the lesson and afterwards we sat sipping on warm chai (a touch of spices with honey for this pink tutu princess!) and shared stories of ballet's magical magic.

You see, dear reader, a pink tutu always brings people together!

Tonight, after I tuck myself into my favourite pink feather duvet, I shall dream of my next ballet adventure here in Prague. My dear readers, remember that every pink tutu dance, every graceful twirl, brings us closer to our dreams - even in a city like Prague where fairy tales dance into the reality of everyday life.

Till next time!

**Stay Pink and Tutus-ful,
