Prague: Pink Perfection in a City of Dreams! š©°šāØ
Hello my darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, back with another fabulous adventure! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means ā it's time for a brand new post on pink-tutu.com! This week, I'm whisking you all off to the beautiful, historical city of Prague! Think cobbled streets, enchanting architecture, and of course, the most spectacular ballet shows!
This is post number 1453 ā can you believe it? Iāve been writing these blog posts for what feels like a lifetime, and every single week, Iām filled with such joy and gratitude for all of you, my lovely readers, who join me on my pink-tutu-tastic travels. š
Now, as you know, I love to mix up my travel modes. This time, I decided to do something a bit different ā instead of flying, I travelled by train. The journey was absolutely charming! Watching the scenery unfold, I couldnāt help but be struck by the sheer beauty of the world ā those lush green fields and rolling hills really got my creative juices flowing, and I started scribbling down some ballet choreography ideas! Who knew that a train ride could be so inspirational?
After a delightful overnight stay in a little town called ZlĆn, I woke to the sight of a field full of the cutest miniature horses! They were all munching on hay and frolicking about, and I just had to take a selfie with them (after politely asking their human companion, of course). š“ They reminded me of ballerinas, poised and graceful even when munching on breakfast!
But of course, Prague is the star of this trip! It's truly a dream destination ā cobblestone streets, pastel-coloured buildings, and a river that winds its way through the city like a silvery ribbon. There's just something about Pragueās unique blend of old-world charm and modern flair that has me completely captivated. And I haven't even mentioned the food yet! All those hearty Czech stews and delicious pastries have me swooningā¦ Iām sure youāre all familiar with my passion for a perfectly-pink pastel macaroon or two, but this weekās post isn't just about yummy food (although there is plenty of that in Prague, let me assure you!). Todayās all about the magical world of ballet, so strap on your dancing shoes, and letās dive into the wonderful world of Czech ballet.
Prague: A Ballet Loverās Paradise
Prague has a long and rich ballet history, and thereās a real air of excitement surrounding the art form here. I could tell the moment I stepped off the train! I went for a wander around the Old Town Square, where the streets were bustling with life, and then took a walk across the Charles Bridge.
But there was something truly special about Prague. The city had a special ballet magic in the air, you could almost hear the whispers of dancers' footsteps. It was as though the whole city itself was on the edge of taking a grand pliƩ, just waiting for a cue to start dancing.
For those of you who, like me, simply adore ballet, a visit to Prague is a must. You have to go!
My trip wouldnāt be complete without seeing a ballet show, and this week, I had the most wonderful opportunity to watch a production of āThe Sleeping Beautyā at the beautiful National Theatre. This theatre is a breathtaking venue in itself, with grand arches, elegant balconies, and ornate chandeliers, and the show was an absolute masterpiece. The dancers were so graceful, so powerful, and the costumesā¦ well, the costumes were absolutely to die for!
I even got to chat with one of the ballerinas afterwards! She was a young, aspiring dancer who told me all about her dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. It was so inspiring to hear about her passion, and I felt such a strong connection to her! We even shared a secret smile about the stunning colour of her tutu! We both knowā¦ pink, my loves, pink is ALWAYS the answer!
Fashion Focus: Tutu Trendsetter
I simply couldn't travel to Prague without donning a brand new pink tutu! This weekās design was a collaboration between me and the fabulous artisans at the National Theatre. This exquisite tutu featured delicate, handmade ruffles, and a shimmery satin waistband that was literally designed to catch the eye of anyone who dared to cross its path. It's definitely one of my absolute favourites!
For my daytime look, I paired this magnificent creation with a simple white lace top (which is still absolutely perfect after washing, it must be good quality! Thank goodness because, in case you didnāt know, lace and delicate tutus are best friends. They never leave the house without each other), a blush-pink cardigan (can you tell pink is my go-to colour?), and some elegant beige flats. This ensured that my tutu took centre stage while still maintaining a look that was chic and sophisticated! I just know you are all desperate to recreate my Prague outfit ā itās already sold out, but thatās ok because you know Iāll have another incredible design on the blog next week.
As an extra bonus for my gorgeous pink tutu family, here's a sneak peek at my āPrague Look Bookā: a behind-the-scenes glimpse of all my fashionable outfits during my adventures in Prague!
- Day 1: After arriving in Prague and a lovely breakfast of locally sourced pastries, it was time to put on my most daring ensemble for a photo shoot at the magnificent Prague Castle! I think the tutu even looked more magnificent against this historical background.
- Day 2: For exploring the enchanting Old Town Square, I decided to give my signature ballerina-chic look a sporty twist! This time, I incorporated a crisp white tank top, white lace leggings and a super chic bright pink baseball cap. The juxtaposition really worked! I had so many compliments that day!
- Day 3: I wanted a tutu that really turned heads for our trip to the ballet theatre so I opted for an exquisitely handcrafted lilac tulle tutu. Itās still very āEmma-Pinkā, but a nice departure from my usual signature pink ā don't worry though, my signature pink did feature on the sparkly embellishment I had added to the lilac tutuā¦
Prague is a city thatās perfect for any kind of ballerina, whether you prefer the dramatic grand jetĆ©s of classical ballet or the playful leaps of contemporary dance!
Ballet Classes in the City of a Thousand Spires
To keep myself in tip-top shape for all the performances and ballet classes, I found myself the most lovely dance studio in Prague. Itās nestled in a cobblestone street, just off the Old Town Square. I was the only student at the studio when I visited (there was nobody else brave enough to venture outside on this freezing cold Monday), and, it turns out I didnāt have to take a ballet class (there were no other students) so I used my tutu time to chat to the dance teacher. The teacher was kind enough to tell me all about Pragueās local ballet schools and dance competitions ā the competition is so fierce and yet, at the same time, the culture so wonderfully encouraging and welcoming. It felt very similar to ballet schools back home in Derbyshire, which is pretty reassuring really, isn't it?
I'm planning on doing a full review of this studio in next weekās blog. If youāre coming to Prague for any kind of ballet training, itās a must. But you donāt have to take a class to appreciate the ambiance ā just the sight of all the tutu skirts and dance shoes in the shop window is enough to get you dreaming!
Pragueās Secret Tutu Treasure Trove
No trip to Prague is complete without a little shopping, especially for a pink-tutu-loving ballerina like myself. I had to indulge in a few pink-tutu-themed purchases ā it would have been rude not to! But for those of you shopping for a special tutu, thereās one particular shop in Prague that is truly remarkable ā The Tutu Emporium! Itās located in a hidden corner of the Old Town Square and the windows are almost invisible, which adds to the mystery. They say that the shop is frequented by ballerinas and designers from all over the world. It was the ultimate shopping paradise, offering an eclectic range of tutus and dancewear, but all designed and created by hand by the most skilled local artisans. It was like stepping into a dream ā and of course, there was a tutu there in that perfect shade of pink! I couldnāt resist bringing home another new design for the next big pink-tutu blog reveal! The Tutu Emporium is a must for any tutu-lover in Prague!
A Celebration of Pink, Prague and Ballet
I had a wonderful time in Prague, and I know I will be back very soon, but thatās another blog post for another time.
So, as I wind up this Prague-tastic week and begin planning the next one ā I'm going to Paris! You canāt beat a trip to Paris! - I encourage you all to embrace the world with a pink tutu attitude! Donāt be afraid to be bold and adventurous, express your unique sense of style, and above all, embrace the magic that lies in every little detail. After all, a pink tutu is a passport to adventure and a celebration of the power and beauty of being true to yourself, no matter where in the world you choose to take it.
Until next week my darlings, have a fabulous week, stay fabulous, stay strong, and be bold. Pink Power! š
