Prague: Where Pink Tutues Meet Baroque Charm - Pink Tutu Blog, Post #1462
Hello, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the most magical city in the world...Prague!
The cobbled streets, the golden spires, the whisper of history in every corner...it's absolutely intoxicating. I wouldn't trade my latest adventure for anything. Especially when that adventure involves ... tutus! You already know my weakness: a gorgeous pink tulle cloud swirling around my ankles. So naturally, this trip is all about finding the perfect Prague pink tutu pairing. And, of course, exploring the incredible ballet scene in this city of dreams.
This week, I've decided to embrace my inner Czech ballerina and spend the entire week in the magical city of Prague. As always, I’m documenting everything for you, dear readers! My diary is full of musings, observations, and outfit inspiration, so hold on tight! It’s time to dive headfirst into Prague’s cultural delights, and, most importantly, explore its ballet secrets.
Arriving in Prague by Train (and Pony?!)
As you know, I love the romanticism of train travel. It's such a captivating way to see the countryside, absorb the changing scenery, and really immerse myself in the journey. And for this trip, the train wasn't the only way I journeyed into this city of enchantment. Imagine my delight when I spotted a small, shaggy pony pulling a carriage towards the city gates! It was as if I had stepped into a fairy tale. The pony, as if he knew his star-quality, pranced right past the train station, creating a little fairytale vignette. This little fellow looked quite a gentleman, but I suspect a bit of a naughty boy on a wild ride through Prague could add another dimension to this experience… I might have to explore that for next week's blog. But this is not just about travelling, this week, I'm here to celebrate one thing: Ballet!
This city, so rich with history and architecture, has a deep-rooted love affair with dance. So it's no surprise that I found myself in the heart of this vibrant ballet scene at the Národní Divadlo - the National Theatre. Oh my, what a treasure! It’s a beautiful, historical building, with an ornate interior. But it's the spirit within those walls that truly mesmerizes you. It pulsates with passion, tradition, and sheer, joyful energy. I spent hours wandering through the hallways, envisioning generations of ballerinas dancing under the grand chandelier, taking a ballet class in one of the opulent dance studios… my imagination simply flew away!
I’ve always loved ballet, from my earliest childhood memories of performing a simple pirouette on my living room rug, to devouring historical accounts of ballerinas’ journeys, I simply adore the world of dance. Ballet offers a glimpse into human expression at its most raw and beautiful form, making it the perfect art form for capturing a city’s soul.
A Ballet Bonanza
What could be better than a trip to Prague… unless it was a ballet extravaganza on 14th June! I'd discovered a performance of The Sleeping Beauty that day - a classic tale that never fails to enchant me. It’s like dipping into a beautiful dream. It's a tale of love, magic, and the triumph of good over evil - perfect ingredients for a magical evening, don’t you think?
Of course, I couldn’t go without a little outfit planning for this ballet spectacle! Finding the perfect tutu to match the evening's fairytale ambiance is crucial. After much deliberation (I may have been a little indecisive with my choices - it is such a difficult choice! Which tulle shade best captures the Sleeping Beauty's slumbering magic… or, should I choose the ethereal quality of her awakened brilliance…? So many options….) I chose a ballet-inspired look, with a breathtaking light-pink tulle tutu that swirled around me like a cloud, paired with a luxurious silk blouse that shimmered in the moonlight, it was simply perfect.
I could hardly contain myself. As soon as the orchestra began, the world melted away. And then she appeared: Princess Aurora in her resplendent royal garb - simply exquisite. Every arabesque, every leap, every expressive gesture, every flutter of her hand...simply magical! I completely immersed myself in the beauty and the timeless elegance of the ballet. And when she awakens to her true self after her 100-year slumber - I was weeping tears of pure joy. The show was simply beautiful - I could barely contain myself in my little pink cloud of happiness… it truly was magic, it made me believe that even in my world, miracles are possible.
After the performance, I could barely believe it, I met with the lead ballerina from the show. The ballerina had also come to love my little pink tutu cloud and I even convinced her to model with me - what an absolute honour! I found it incredible that I could connect with her through this mutual love of the dance… and of course, my little pink cloud - my signature piece.
Tutus and Trends in PragueAnd I couldn't let my little trip to Prague slip by without visiting some fabulous shops! Every street was bursting with beautiful boutiques and elegant antique stores… and of course, every shop had something new for my tutu wardrobe.
There's a trend of wearing tulle in different ways; it's a perfect piece to add an extra touch of fairy-tale enchantment to any outfit, it's the most fun to wear when layered with other fabrics to create interesting textures. In fact, I have been seeing tulle everywhere: skirts, tops, scarves, even ballet shoes! My goodness, how wonderful to see that this beautiful fabric is having such a fashion renaissance… You know that I adore fashion history, but what excites me even more, is a future where tulle is part of everyday wear - even outside of a dance performance… it is a fashion trend with incredible lasting power! Perhaps this is why it appears in all shapes and sizes; from short and frothy to grand and graceful - a true icon of fashion and of ballet… and it deserves the recognition, it is indeed, the fabric of my dreams.
Of course, I'm obsessed with tulle's versatility. It’s such a fun way to elevate your outfits! You can even create a whimsical, almost ethereal mood simply by wearing a sparkly tulle top, over a fitted satin dress. It’s easy and you don't have to look for an occasion to do it. I encourage you to look out for that magic touch of tulle, as I think it's the perfect accent to the elegance of Prague's city streets.
