Pink Tutu Prague: Where Dreams Take Flight - Post #1465

Wednesday, 5th July, 2023

Bonjour mes chéries! Emma here, your trusty Pink Tutu guide, ready to take you on a whimsical journey through the enchanting city of Prague, where fairytale charm meets modern day magic.

As you know, Prague has been calling to me for a while. There’s a special sort of romance in its cobbled streets, ancient architecture, and whispers of bygone eras - perfect for a ballet enthusiast like myself! I arrived in style, naturally - the train journey from Dresden was quite magical with those breathtaking Czech landscapes flashing past the window.

Once I checked into my quaint little hotel (all pink, of course, with the most delightful chandelier) it was time for the first taste of this captivating city! A gentle walk through the heart of Old Town, stopping for an ice-cream topped with a delicate meringue (pink, obviously!) while I soak up the sights - the Prague Castle looming like a fairy tale, the iconic Charles Bridge bathed in the afternoon sun. It was a scene right out of a classic ballet story, complete with charming street musicians and even a cheeky little pony who stopped for a photo op (pink ribbon around its mane - what a dream!).

Prague, it seems, was made for tutus! The cobblestone streets, the graceful bridges, the stunning architecture – all feel perfectly in sync with a delicate swirl of pink tulle.

* Ballet Dreams in the City of a Thousand Spires*

Prague holds a very special place in ballet history, you know. This is the city where legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova debuted her enchanting "Dying Swan" - a piece that changed the face of ballet. How could I resist the temptation to retrace her steps, even for a little while?

On Friday, the grand Czech National Theatre plays host to a production I've been waiting ages to see - "Giselle", a tale of passion, betrayal, and the supernatural. It’s all I've been talking about for weeks, from the ethereal choreography to the captivating storyline - the perfect excuse for a new pink tutu! It has to be pink, after all!

Speaking of pink, this city just brims with charm and chic, the kind of timeless elegance that whispers of ballerina elegance. My wardrobe has already grown by at least three lovely pieces from vintage shops dotted around the Old Town square. It was like a ballet of sequins and frills! Just what I need to bring some extra flair to my theatre debut in the Bohemian capital.

* A Glimpse Into the Past*

You can't come to Prague without dipping into its history, can you? The ballet of times gone by echoes here! Prague Castle is not only a stunning monument to architectural wonder but also an intriguing glimpse into centuries past.

There is the ancient Royal Palace, which houses the historic St. Vitus Cathedral, a cathedral that’s been in my "Must-see" list since childhood, due to the story of its completion. It seems construction began way back in the 14th Century, and it wasn’t finished until 1929, taking centuries! That's quite a ballet performance in its own right!

Prague's astronomical clock, ticking away its centuries old tale, feels like it should be part of a grand stage production, telling the story of a timeless waltz against the backdrop of the majestic clock tower!

Oh, and the Old Town Square? It’s an absolute dream come true, and that magnificent building with the gargoyles is truly one of those fairytale locations you simply cannot miss.

Finding My Perfect Fit

Prague is definitely a haven for tutu lovers. Whether you’re looking for vintage pieces, statement-making creations for special occasions, or just a little somethin’ somethin’ to make every day a bit more special – there's something for every pink tutu aficionado in this charming city. I, for one, am already making plans for a custom-made piece by one of the talented designers in the heart of the city – it has to be perfect for my ballet debut at the National Theatre!

My Prague adventure continues, my loves! It’s not just about ballet for me though – it's about fashion, history, and creating memorable moments that linger long after the curtain call.

Catch up next week when I take you on another pink-tinted journey in this captivating city.

Lots of love,

Emma

Where To Find Emma In Prague

Emma loves getting her daily dose of Vitamin D at Old Town Square.

For the ultimate "pink tutu" moment, she’s heading to National Theatre this Friday, but she always tries to make a detour to Charles Bridge – that Charles Bridge sunset is seriously dreamy and makes her feel like she's stepped straight out of a fairytale!

She’s also a regular at the Kafka Museum, as her obsession with Kafka isn’t quite as outlandish as some may suggest!
