Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet-Filled Bohemian Dream! (Blog Post #1470)
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm whisking you all away to the enchanting city of Prague. Imagine cobblestone streets, stunning architecture, and a city steeped in history, all adorned with a vibrant pink tutu flair, of course!
As you know, I love exploring new places, especially when I can weave in my passion for ballet. Prague has proven to be a haven for dance lovers, with beautiful theaters, historic dance halls, and an incredible ballet scene. It's the perfect place to feel inspired by the beauty of ballet in all its forms.
From Derbyshire to Prague: A Tutu-ful JourneyI arrived in Prague via a delightful train journey, a real European adventure. I’m such a fan of train travel, especially on this side of the world with the beautiful views and quaint stations. (Don't even get me started on those charming European train cars! They're almost like a dance studio on wheels). My train ticket was paid for from my last performance as the Sugar Plum Fairy – those tights always do wonders for my pocket!
Prague was just as dreamy as I'd hoped, a true fairy tale setting. The first thing I noticed was how the cobbled streets almost whispered a rhythmic beat to my feet. It felt like the whole city was a grand ballet stage, waiting for its next enchanting performance.
Finding my Feet: The Prague Dance SceneFirst on the agenda was a visit to the National Theatre, a grand structure with a history dating back to the 1880s. I almost gasped when I saw the building – such grandeur! You can just imagine the history that the walls are holding! I imagined all the dancers and choreographers that had stepped through these doors. Just picture this, dear reader, my pale pink tulle swirling under the velvet chandeliers... it’s what dreams are made of!
My dream trip continued with a peek at the Prague State Opera. Now, the inside of this one! It’s what all your fairy tales should be based upon! The architecture is incredible! I found myself wanting to do a pirouette in each grand room just to soak it all up! You have to go inside. My tutu and I both insisted!
Of course, the highlight of my trip was a glorious evening spent at the National Theatre watching a performance of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". The performance was breathtaking - each pirouette was so perfect, every graceful movement brought the classic tale to life before my very eyes! The set design was so theatrical, you couldn't help but get swept away by the magic! Afterwards, the applause went on for minutes.
Tutu-ifying PragueAfter an exciting day, I retreated to a quaint little cafe in Old Town Square. Sipping a cup of Czech tea (deliciously fragrant, you must try it!), I felt inspired to unleash my inner creative spirit.
That’s how “Tutu-ifying Prague” was born – my plan to find the most stylish outfits and accessories to give the city my personal pink twist! My plan is simple – to help every shop and street stall look like they’ve just stepped off a dance stage! Prague’s got charm in spades already – but I know I can give it some pink shimmer and sparkle too!
Of course, my first stop had to be the charming boutiques along Parizska Street. It’s all designer shops and fashion-forward names. You wouldn't believe the amazing shops that are just a little skip from the Old Town Square. If it's the newest trends in fashion, you will find it in Prague, trust me. They have all the most luxurious stores from all the big brands. A ballerina must stay trendy!
I also found myself lost in the labyrinthine stalls at the Municipal House – a real visual treat. Think beautifully crafted antiques, art, and souvenirs galore, it really made me feel like I was stepping back in time. And of course, each shop got a bit of a Pink Tutu touch – whether it was a ballet-inspired brooch, or some pink ballet shoes for display.
Fashion Finds and Ballerina ChicNow, as a seasoned dancer, you know I can’t resist a good dance supply store, and I stumbled across a little hidden gem nestled in a side street: the "Dance & Movement" store. They had all the most wonderful ballet shoes (pointe shoes for sure!), leotards, tutus and tights! This shop was literally a ballerina’s dream! My Pink Tutu dreams came true! It’s full of inspiring items – just begging to be styled in creative and fun ways!
So, you can imagine my glee when I spotted a brand-new shop just steps away from the Old Town Square. Imagine this – a whole shop dedicated to tutus – called Tutu-tique! Every kind of tutu – a fairy, a ballet, a tutu you could never dream of. The kindest, friendliest shop keeper showed me the full range. This little shop is all the ballet dreams a ballerina could imagine – they have tutus, shoes, leotards – all in shades of pink! They even helped me find a special Prague-inspired pink tutu made by local artisans. So stylish and modern, but with a charming bohemian flair. It was truly a dream come true, darlings!
Speaking of tutus, you have to see this - Prague Castle! It’s absolutely beautiful with stunning views over the city. You wouldn’t think it, but a trip up to the castle with a fabulous pink tulle creation really took it to another level! All the people I passed loved it. (Some even asked me for photos!) We just wandered through all the stunning streets, like something out of a fairy tale – oh how we danced in the gardens and imagined all the ballets we would perform in this grand setting! You really feel the history here, especially when you’re sporting a dramatic tutu and walking the ramparts!
Prague really is a city that begs you to explore, but be sure to stop at Cafe Imperial, a Parisian-inspired spot with such intricate decoration that it took my breath away. It's worth a visit just to see how it manages to combine such elegance with that quirky Prague feel.
More Ballet Fun to ComeOf course, I can't forget the little touch of magic that every Pink Tutu journey has! During my visit, I caught a glimpse of the Prague Midsummer Nights Festival – a real theatrical feast! They've got an incredible outdoor theatre setup at Letná Park. They call it The House on the Roof – it’s quite the set up, and quite impressive! I think they're using it as a staging space for several outdoor theatre productions – like ballet! A full open-air spectacle set in a stunning location with a touch of the fairytale – yes please! You have to try to visit a show here if you’re coming to Prague, and get your fill of this festival fun!
Embracing the pink and tutusIt seems to me, my dear readers, that the pink is catching on in Prague. Prague loves ballet! Prague loves a tutu. What will they love more, a Pink Tutu? Only time will tell! I think Prague is just itching to have all its people decked out in their very own, perfect pink tulle and lace dresses. Oh how wonderful the thought!
As for me, well, this trip has reminded me once again that there’s magic to be found in every corner of the world, especially if you wear a pink tutu! The charm of Prague really makes it a city that’s impossible not to fall in love with!
Until next week, my dears. Keep your dancing shoes on and your tutus close at hand – and remember, it’s never too late to add a touch of pink and whimsy to your life!
