Prague, My Dearest, in a Pink Tutu, of Course! (Blog Post #1486)
Hello my darling tutus! It's Wednesday again, and that can only mean one thing – time for a new post from yours truly, Emma, the pink-loving, tutu-adoring ballerina extraordinaire, straight from the magical streets of Prague! This week has been a whirlwind of cobbled streets, grand architecture, and of course, some absolutely smashing ballet!
I arrived in Prague last weekend, feeling like a character stepping out of a fairytale. This city is practically begging to be explored, its every corner offering a new enchanting surprise. The vibrant colours, the playful architecture, the quaint cafes – it's a feast for the eyes and a joy to experience! But you know what else they have here? That’s right, more pink than you can shake a tutu at! It’s almost as though Prague knows I’m coming to town and says “let’s give this girl a colour scheme she’ll enjoy”! I don't even know where to begin describing the shops I've found, the pink cashmere scarves, the flamingo pink pottery… well, let's just say my suitcase is beginning to resemble a pastel dream!
But you all know me, darling readers! This trip isn’t just about the pink, although it's a fabulous bonus, it’s about the dance! Now, I’m not going to tell you about all the dance shows and workshops that have blown my mind here (though let’s just say I’ve experienced more ballet than you could shake a pink tutu at… well, maybe I already said that?). Let's keep things exciting and let those adventures remain for next week’s blog post! But let me tell you – my heart has never danced so happily!
I travelled by train, which felt like being transported back to my childhood, where my mum would often pack a picnic and whisk me away to a wonderful destination. It felt as though I was travelling in a film - like one of those romantic European adventures. We crossed meadows with wildflowers and passing ponies. My trusty pony, Star, would love it here – there are fields perfect for his trot, and enough lovely flowers for him to graze on for a month! But unfortunately, he’s enjoying the fresh air of the Derbyshire Dales back home with Mum.
Now, about today. It’s the 29th of November, and after an exciting day filled with coffee, cake, and lots of ballet chat with a fellow pink tutu aficionado from Germany (imagine that!), I am about to see a performance of “The Nutcracker”! The Grand Opera House here in Prague is a sight to behold - all gleaming golden and boasting history that stretches back centuries! Can you even imagine? So, you bet your bottom dollar, my lovely tutus, I will be dazzling this venue in a perfectly pink tutu. Let me give you a sneak peek, I’m going for a beautiful ballet pink this time, with little black polka dots! I know, right, totally on trend, a classic twist with a bit of vintage thrown in!
As the last rays of golden sunlight fall upon Prague, painting the city in a breathtaking, orange glow, I’m off to witness a ballet classic! I can almost feel the magical enchantment of “The Nutcracker” seep through the city, the gentle melody of the orchestra whispering stories of winter wonderland and a world where magic and dreams are always alive!
And who knows? Maybe I'll be sharing a sneak peek of my adventures tomorrow right here! Stay tuned, my darling tutus, stay tuned!
Love,
Emma

And here's a bit more about my adventures, in case you’re feeling nosy! It's 20 minutes later now… I’ve finished the performance!
"The Nutcracker", at the Grand Opera House!
"The Nutcracker" was nothing short of magical, an experience that left me feeling like I’d been transported to a land of sugared almonds and swirling snowflakes. The costumes, the sets, the dancing – it was all absolutely stunning! You have to admit, there is a charm to seeing "The Nutcracker", no matter where you are. It really is the ultimate ballet for all seasons, no matter your age or whether you know anything about ballet. It really was quite an experience seeing it at the Prague Opera House. I can’t believe it took me so long to get here to this iconic venue. It really did take me back in time, feeling like the stories of this magnificent house danced with the ballet on stage.
Of course, my lovely tutus, my best outfit had to be on display for this momentous occasion! I opted for my stunning baby pink, swirling, sparkly, tulle tutu, which is always a hit (especially amongst the dancers in the cast!), paired with a beautiful silk camisole, in a slightly deeper pink tone, that just made the pink in the tutu pop. The outfit was finished with a delightful little beaded purse – and my favourite pair of delicate pink satin shoes! And my jewellery? Pink, naturally.
Time to get inspired
Afterwards, I indulged in a traditional Bohemian supper (stuffed cabbage with lots of cream!) which, paired with a glass of the local rose wine (which, surprise, surprise, is a delightful pink colour!) really hit the spot. All in all, a perfect end to an utterly magnificent day! Now, as I sit in the enchanting warmth of my Prague hotel room, listening to the soft pitter-patter of raindrops against my window, I can't help but be swept away by the day's events. The magic of ballet, the charming allure of Prague, and my unwavering passion for pink - all wrapped up in a delightful package.
Outfit ideas
Now, you know how much I love to indulge in some fashion fun – I would hate to let you all leave this post without some outfit inspo! For the festive season, imagine this look for the Christmas theatre, or even your local community hall, if you're joining in a ballet show, pantomime or even just a musical:
For your next theatre trip!
*A full-length tulle tutu, in a pink hue, of course. * (You can't go wrong with the classics.)
A chic, and warm, top – A long-sleeved, fine knit, is an absolute must!
A chic cardigan. Why not opt for a cashmere one, in your favourite colour, whether pink or navy, beige or a contrasting bright tone. You’ll be cosy and fabulous.
Elegant heeled boots. Or some Mary Jane heels, perfect for making a chic statement whilst remaining comfortable on the commute to the theatre.
Statement jewellery. For me, that's some beautiful pink earrings, that sparkle with every move, maybe a chain, or a lovely pair of ballet shoes that could add a pop of pink to a festive outfit, or even just a little pink charm necklace!
Finally, don’t forget, a small bag. For your ballet tickets, phone, make-up, a few essentials and to add a bit of bling!
I know some of you may think "That's not exactly typical theatre-going attire!" but why should you wear what everyone else is wearing? Be your own princess, be confident, stand out and be proud of your love of the dance! Now, don’t just stick with my inspo – let your inner-fashionista loose. Don’t forget to have fun!
And as I pen this, I already know – my next blog will be full of tips on choosing the perfect tutu for your personality. What’s my personal top tip? *Pink of course! *
Have a fantastic week,
Emma
