#PinkTutuPrague Ballet in Prague 2023-12-13

Hello my darlings, and welcome to another edition of Pink Tutu Prague! This week I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventure in the City of a Hundred Spires - a trip that was pure magic, filled with ballet brilliance and breathtaking scenery. As always, pink was my constant companion, because what better colour to wear whilst exploring a city so full of charm and history?

This week, I’m feeling so unbelievably happy – my travels this time have taken me by pony and by train, which has to be one of the most romantic ways to get around! I feel like a little girl from one of the fairy tales I loved to read as a child - and if I'm honest, the dream lives on, I love feeling like I'm part of some incredible adventure.

And let me tell you, Prague is nothing short of an adventure waiting to happen! This beautiful city is simply bursting with things to see, explore, and adore - the cobbled streets, the magical castle, the history, the gorgeous architecture... oh, how I’ve enjoyed getting lost in its fairy-tale atmosphere! And it has to be the perfect setting for any tutu lover, wouldn't you agree?

But before we get to my sartorial exploits (and oh my, did I have fun putting together my Prague outfits!), let's delve into the heart of my adventure – the reason I truly fell in love with Prague: the incredible world of ballet.

I’ve always had a passion for the elegant beauty of ballet. My heart beats a little faster whenever I hear the delicate sound of tutus swishing across a stage, and seeing the dancers glide across the stage in perfect synchronicity with their delicate tutus? Well, there’s no feeling quite like it! I feel like the ultimate ballerina dreamer. I can never have enough ballet shows, and as I'm constantly touring the world, I make sure I visit all the top ballet companies. So when I heard that the Czech National Ballet were hosting a special performance, you know I was first in line to snag the best seat in the house! I chose a theatre seat in the centre – what else?! – for a perfect view of the show. I was beyond thrilled when they announced their programme included a performance of the iconic ‘Swan Lake’!

As the curtain rose and the enchanting music started, I was whisked away to a world of magic, romance, and grace. I was spellbound by the dancers' strength and fluidity, each pirouette and grand jeté perfectly executed. And then, of course, there were the tutus! They shimmered with a magic that words simply cannot describe. I found myself transported to a world of imagination and beauty, and I confess I shed a happy tear or two during the performance - it was truly sublime. I’d happily spend the rest of my life at ballet performances!

The highlight of the performance had to be the majestic swan lake scene, a symphony of swirling white tutus. The stage was alive with white, each movement fluid and elegant - simply breathtaking. The feeling of awe was palpable throughout the whole auditorium, everyone was enraptured. The show truly was one of those that makes you gasp at the pure talent on display.

And just wait until I show you the little pink detailing on the swan tutus! You’ll never believe the exquisite craftsmanship. I made a note to myself, in a new ballet tutu – must be pink!

I really did love it, seeing so many tutus up close on stage – just perfect! I even went backstage after the show to say hello to the dancers (who were incredibly nice!) I picked up a copy of the Czech National Ballet’s tour program too! It looks as if they are heading to Moscow and Saint Petersburg later this year, and Paris in the new year. Now, let’s move on to my pink adventures through the beautiful streets of Prague. It was here I finally gave my lovely pink tutu an outing! The old cobblestone streets have never looked so elegant! The setting sun was glowing through the windows of the old town square buildings - a truly magical and elegant moment. I spent a few glorious hours soaking up the atmosphere, browsing the beautiful shops, and indulging in the delectable local cuisine (pink cake, anyone?! Oh my goodness, you’ll never guess, I was introduced to something even more heavenly than pink cakes here!).

As you may know, I’m absolutely bonkers for anything pink - so I did what I do best – found myself browsing the most amazing boutiques, searching for unique pieces to add to my wardrobe. And let me tell you, Prague's shops are an absolute treasure trove for vintage finds, antique delights, and charming trinkets. Of course, I had to snaffle a few gorgeous pink-hued accessories to add to my collection (you know I just love pink!). There was a tiny antique shop filled with delicate pink china, some beautiful embroidered pieces – think pink lace, bows and ribbon – which were perfect for a touch of dainty charm to my new outfits.

And while I was at it, I managed to track down the perfect location for my latest photoshoot. If you’re in the know about your tutu etiquette, you know that I'm quite particular about the setting, I really have to be able to work a pose, and be inspired by the surrounding area. You won't believe my luck, but just a short distance from the heart of the city lies an extraordinary little castle – full of flowers, lush greenery, a perfect backdrop to my latest tutu outfit.

It’s absolutely the best spot for taking that perfect pink Tutu-fied picture! The walls are a warm colour of brick, that just makes my tutu pop. This castle was made for me, oh darling.

I was truly surprised how much the locals adored the Tutu, so many smiles as I posed. A lot of little girls looked quite surprised by the large amount of frills, and then asked if they could have a twirl in the pink tutu! Of course, I was happy to share, twirling along with them and explaining a little bit about ballet and the history of the tutu!

My dear mother always says “Everyone should get into tutus at some point in their lives!” Now I truly believe that, it truly is a magic little dress! The way the light falls over the tiers and catches on the material – you really do feel like a little ballerina fairy! And it brings a smile to everyone’s face! That makes me feel really happy! And seeing little girls and women feeling confident and comfortable – I truly feel my aim in life is being accomplished – all my readers and fellow pink lovers – I'm almost convinced to get everyone into a pink tutu, that’s my ambition, but for now we can just dream.

Well, darlings, my time in Prague has sadly come to an end for this time around, but I am already dreaming of my next adventure in this charming city. I’ll leave you with this thought – whether you’re a seasoned tutu aficionado or just starting your pink journey, never let go of the little girl who dreamt of pirouettes, ballet shows, and fairy tale endings! Remember, a tutu isn’t just a garment – it’s a symbol of creativity, self-expression, and a little bit of magic.
