Prague, My Love! Post #1492 πŸ©°πŸ’–βœ¨

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your pink-tutu-loving ballerina extraordinaire, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be back with another post from my travels! This week, we're whisking ourselves to the enchanting city of Prague – the City of a Hundred Spires, they call it, and you can definitely see why.

Oh, how I adore this city! There's a timeless charm to it, a beautiful blend of history and modernity, that simply sweeps you off your feet. It feels like stepping into a fairy tale, with cobblestone streets winding through a labyrinth of stunning architecture, pastel-coloured buildings that practically sing, and little hidden cafes brimming with laughter and life.

This week's adventure, you ask? Well, it involves ballet of course! And what better place to experience the magic of ballet than in the heart of Europe?

I've just emerged from a glorious day at the Prague National Theatre, and my heart is still overflowing with joy! My eyes are still twinkling with the beauty of the choreography, the colours of the costumes, the talent on stage, and of course, the magic that only a live ballet performance can create.

Now, before we dive into all the details, let's be honest – you came here for the pink, right? So naturally, I wouldn't dare leave Prague without donning my most fabulous pink tutu. It's the perfect shade of blush pink, just like the beautiful cherry blossom trees I saw along the Vltava River today.

The whole day felt like a dream come true. Imagine this: a sunny, crisp morning, strolling through Prague's Old Town Square, my pink tutu swirling around me like a soft cloud. I stopped to marvel at the Astronomical Clock as it chimed, the tiny figures strutting their centuries-old routine with an effortless grace, before exploring the intricate, labyrinthine Charles Bridge. I even indulged in a little bit of shopping – finding a charming little shop brimming with vintage lace and antique beads for a project I have brewing (more on that later!).

Then, I felt an overwhelming urge for a pink-tutu picnic, so I bought myself some pastries and a pot of hot, rich Czech coffee (my favourite) from a small cafΓ©, settled on a bench under a majestic, sprawling tree, and relished the simple pleasures of Prague's quiet beauty.

And then, the ballet! Ah, the ballet. The show tonight was Don Quixote, and let me tell you – it was breathtaking! The story, the music, the choreography... each and every element blended seamlessly to create an utterly captivating experience. The dancers, of course, were incredibly talented – I felt a kinship with them, a kindred spirit soaring on the wings of passion and grace. And I couldn't help but think how much a bit of pink would brighten up the costumes – maybe a blush pink overlay for the Don Quixote role or perhaps a vibrant fuchsia ribbon to highlight the leaps and turns. It was the perfect opportunity for a pink tutu upgrade, wouldn't you say?

After the performance, I felt truly inspired. I mean, isn't ballet simply the most magical form of art? It’s an art form where the dancers speak through movement, telling stories that are as old as time itself – love, passion, heartache, joy, struggle, and triumph – all played out on the stage in a whirlwind of beauty and elegance.

The evening ended with a magical stroll through the Old Town Square, the city bathed in golden hues, the lights of the buildings casting an ethereal glow. Prague, with its history and spirit, truly embodies a sense of magic, of adventure, of possibility.

And I, your Pink Tutu ballerina from Derbyshire, England, found myself reflecting on how wonderful it is to share this incredible adventure with all of you.

What's On in Prague on January 10th?

This Wednesday, the Prague National Theatre is playing Don Quixote. As for the rest of the city, there are a plethora of delightful possibilities to choose from. For a dose of culture, I'd suggest a visit to the Municipal House – it's truly spectacular. If you want to embrace the artistic spirit, the Museum of Decorative Arts offers an enchanting world of visual arts. If you need a bit of fun and indulgence, the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square will have you swooning with their medieval charms and bustling life.
